Of course adults were allowed to wear costumes to the MNSSHP...it was encouraged as long as they didnt offend or were frightening to small children, especially on HALLOWEEN NIGHT!!!....reread your memo. On the "OFFICIAL" website of Disney it stated as such when you went to purchase your MNSSHP tickets for 10/31/03...otherwise we would not of gone through the trouble of dressing up.
Also, there were MANY who wore costumes throughout EPCOT that day who were either passing through it or who had entered through the front entrance of the park...during the ENTIRE DAY of Halloween. So, you see, YOUR WRONG....but thanks for your input.....
We obviously were allowed to go through...and lookie here...we didnt "distract from the show?"....whatever that meant! What show he is refering to....I DONT KNOW....LOL I didnt think a adult in hula skirt could "distract from a show" at EPCOT....if so, perhaps I can open up my own little kiosk and sell some tickets! Who needs a job!!!

PS....95% of the adults at MK were dressed up! That is what Halloween at Disney is all about!!! I guess not every cast member had a stick shoved up a body part that day and allowed all the ADULTS entrance to the part without being turned away.

You know, I'm not weighing in on this subject and jumping into the middle of a debate about who's right and who's wrong. However, it seems like you've been yelling and going on the attack in every single one of your posts lately. From your stories, it sounds like you do the same thing in person too.

Would it really be that hard to just calm down, explain your position in a reasonable manner, and enjoy the boards? When someone opens a post and reads "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT... AGAIN" on the first line, it doesn't make a very good impression for you.

Regardless of if you are right or wrong, you will lose every battle you fight with an attitude like that. When you're unfriendly and confrontational, no one is going to go out of their way to help you (not even Disney cast members).

Please, for your own sake, try to be more courteous here in the discussions. You're getting feedback from a lot of people, many of which are paying members and have been here for a LONG time. Instead of assuming that you're right in everything you say and that the world owes you something (no pun intended), try biting your tongue once and a while as the rest of us do.

My encounter with a rude cast member was this past trip in October 2003. Entering Epcto via the International Gateway on Halloween with my daughter on our way to MNSSHP via the monorail....we were told we could NOT be allowed into the part in costume!!!! What the.......!!

I said what? She said we are not allowing anyone with costumes in. I said, what about the children...she said they are allowed. Now mind you we were NOT in a full out costume. We had on grass skirts (shorts underneath) and a tee shirt- hardly a costume by any means....she said we needed to use other forms of transportation like the bus. I told her, listen...I am paying blah, blah, blah per night at the Beach Club, I AM going through EPCOT to get to the MK via the monorail whether she likes it or not, I told her to get her supervisor on the phone, cause ____*t was gonna hit the fan....she got on the phone and 2 minutes later...we were allowed through. What the heck was up with that!!! I could see if we were in some all out costume with masks etc...or even offensive costumes....but heck all I really needed to do was take off the skirt and I wasnt in costume anymore....so really it was a dumb move on her part to agrivate a PAYING GUEST with stupidity!! I wonder where they get these people sometimes-or maybe she just left her brains along with her Disney attitude at home that day.

I did get her name and I did report the incident at Guest Services...cause I was ed. Now mind you..on the other hand when something nice happens via a cast member I report that as well.....

Cool, I used to work as a park greeter at international gateway. Who was it that didnt let you in, while wearing a costume? THey were probobly a friend of mine. You should have said "hi" for me.

Now, i know it isnt very likely that you will ever read this, but just for the record, they did what they were trained to do, so reporting the incident to GR would only get them a pat on the back. Park greeters are trained to not allow adults wearing costumes into the parks, with the exception of special events where it is allowed.

But it was a special event where Costumes ARE allowed, there was no reason for this CM`s rudeness. So if it was a friend of yours, give the person a slap upside the head for me!

Darrel,

until you've worked for Disney and know how they work, a million things could have happened which would have put the CM in the right. A big thing is Disney's failure to notify all CM's on time and cutbacks in training. It could simply be that the CM did not know that costumes were allowed for this.

Are you telling me that communication in Disney is that bad? I mean heck they had flyers out saying that Costumes were allowed. Geeze, Now I really think Eisner needs to go!

Darrell, I believe that another poster mentioned that costumes were allowed at MK for the party. The incident occured at the Epcot entrance. Quite frankly, if I'm staying at an Epcot resort, I take the bus as it's always faster than walking through Epcot, getting on the monorail, switching to another monorail, then walking to the front entrance.

The costumes were allowed, and even encouraged, for MNSSHP... a special after hours, separate admission event. However, that didn't negate the rules against them at other parks. Apparently, some CMs let it slide, while others enforced the rules.

HMmm Disney definately needs to fix their communication problem! I mean the Cm`s are gunna need information to do their job correctly, and if MK allows costumes, the transportation people need to know this .

yes I am Darrel...

to give an example, 3 times I was scheduled shifts at WDW... 3 times I showed up for them... 3 times the shift had been cancelled without notifying me.

Another time, I needed a day off so another CM took my shift... 2 WEEKS IN ADVANCE. The day of the shift, 2 hours into it, I get a call asking me why I wasn't at work.

And another one... this one is old.. from when I worked attractions. We had allegations of guests groping others in Alien Encounter. So we installed Cameras and CM's with Nightvision in each chamber, as well as another CM monitoring the show. Well.. needless to say, our training consisted of a paper we needed to sign, and no one had any clue what to do.

It wasn't transportation people. It was an operations CM working at the International Gateway entry to Epcot.

Not to mention that it might have been a Ranger that was working at that time. Rangers usually get trained in multiple roles, not always spending their entire time at the same work location or line of work.

"Geeze" Maybe you need to go.

Normally I wouldn't post at a time like this, but I just read 12 pages of posts to have it end with you screaming at the rest of us about something that might or might not have been your fault.

Point being...LET IT GO.

Back off and cool it. There are children on these pages, and even adults do not want to hear your inappropriate comments.

I will now get off of my soapbox

Exactly! The poster wanted to walk THROUGH Epcot, and then get on the monorail. Costumes are not allowed in Epcot, although they were being allowed ONLY for the party in MK. The poster SHOULD have gone directly to MK, or SHOULD have put on her costume at MK. She counted on being able to do what SHE wanted to do, and never stopped to think that adults wearing costumes were not allowed into the parks except for a specific event at a specific park. As I mentioned, some CMs had apparently NOT been enforcing the rule, which led her to believe that the rule no longer applied. She was wrong.

Now you've got me involved......:brick:

to add to what The Mom stated, Darrel also stated that all you had to do was remove the grass skirt and you would have normal clothes on. Then why didnt you? Just because your in Disney, the world does not revolve around you. I deal with the general public every day where I work and trust me, The customer is not always right, they are only right when it is convienent to them. The same holds true in disney. It really annoys me to see people getting pleasure out of torturing CM's for no reason at all. They are human too. Put yourself in their shoes. Thats all I ask.

Tonight was our first time ever dealing with a rude Cast Member.

We were waiting for the Tree Lighting ceremony at Epcot, and instead of d__________g under the ropes to enter the area (much like you would for a parade, no big deal), I moved the rail that holds the rope slightly, since my wife is 8 1/2 months pregnant and can't duck or jump over any rope.

This CM doing crowd control, runs over and grabs my wife's arm, and says nastily, "you can't do that, walk around". So we did and once in the exact spot we just were I called to her attention that 5 or 6 people have just went over the rope, it's not a big deal, but why did she make a big stink and put her hands on my wife? She got all y and such when another Cast Member had to step in, cause at this point my wife was livid and jarring with this idiot. So far all she did was encite 2 members of the crowd she was trying to control.

The incredibly nice CM, NIKKI calmed the situation down and said she would report the incident to her manager. After the show, NIKKI came over to us to make sure everything was okay and if there wasn't anything they could do to make it right (I thought of the Seinfeld episode at the car dealership where George wants an apology & the guy fired for eating his Twix). I told her no, she made the situation better and I appreciated the way she handled it. She made sure there was nothing else she could do, but I assured her it was okay.

We then proceeded to Guest Relations, filed a COMPLAINT against the moron & COMPLIMENT for NIKKI

Ok, ok, ok.

The lady that had the problem with not getting into Epcot is gone, banned, and probally won't be reading this.

the CM should not have made any physical contact with your wife. Not only is that is against rules, that is against the law. As much as I tend to view these as nothing more than a misunderstanding, that CM deserves a serious discussion.

And I praise Nikki.

]!

I don't need to be hearing about slapping cm's upside the heads regardless of weather it was a joke or not.

Don't worry, i'm done with this thread, I don't need to be getting so worked up about something so juvenile.

mkt,

What happened to A MAN LIVING IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER?

Anyways, I'm thankful.

Yeah, that lady had a real problem, she was some old crow anyways, she knew better than to put her meaty paws on me. I wish I had known initially that she put her hands on my wife, I didn't find out til a few minutes later when my wife was jarring with her.

We should close this thread anyways, it's too negative of a discussion. It was just waaaaay too convenient after what happened tonight, I see it sitting there at top of the message list

We encountered a rude CM on the Animal Kingdom train. Her exact words were "keep it movin' people". I'm no CM but I think she should be nicer. She just didn't seem too happy. Other wise then that the CM were pleasant.
