I have never done this while down at Disney - is it worth it?
If yes, Is it very crowded? How early do you need to get there before the park actually opens and can you take Disney transportation to get there?

Thanks!

Oh it so much fun, so worth it!!! Only ever been to the MK and AK ones, AK not really worth it but MK is. I went in June when I went to the MK one and took the boat across about half an hour before the opening. It can be crowded but you can still see everything you need to see, will not spoil it for you by telling you what happens though!!

I think everyone should do it at least once. One time we got there early enough to be first at the entrance. We chatted with a nice CM for a while and she gave my youngest a handful of confetti to throw at the countdown. It does get crowded. There is a cute little "good morning" show at the train station, then the countdown to open.

You will likely be among the first if not THE first riders of your first attraction of the day which is cool.

I would recommend getting to the main entrance at least a half hour early. I do not know how the timing works with the busses.

I love MK's rope drop, I can't wait to see it again when I go in 20 days! I'm excited. I love the music too, I bought the cd with the park music and I admit people probably stare at me in my car blaring that music and singing along!

What is Epcot & HS rope drop?

Epcot's used to involve characters with a Test Track car. It might have changed because it has been a few years since I watched it.

DHS is this little thing with the Streetmosphere characters say they are filming a movie and everyone entering is an extra.

I am not a morning person, but I make an exception when I'm at WDW. Going to rope drop at all of the parks - and especially MK - is the best way to do the most rides with the least amout of crowds. The shows are a bonus.

I have experienced it at all four parks and I would recommend that you do it at least once. It isn't an earth shattering event, but it is a very novel and whimsical event. (MK is best)

The buses can get you there in plenty of time but make sure you allow extra (because of having to wait for the right one to arrive). I recommend avoiding the EMH park because most people from the resorts will be heading there

The MK and DHS shows are worth the lost sleep.

The Epcot and DAK shows are descent, but nothing spectacular.

Of course, the MK has the best one.

Haven't done a rope drop in many years (although we were already in MK last December for a Crystal Palace breakfast), but I vividly remember sprinting to Space Mountain at rope drop as a teenager. :)

I think it is very worth it and it has become sort of a tradition for us. We always do the morning show at least once per trip. It is just so magical to me to watch the characters come rolling in on the train and Mickey opening the park. From there we go to AL and wait for the rope to drop and do our mad dash to Splash. The trip just wouldn't be complete without it! (We have only done the MK & DHS opening.) DHS is nothing special but we were there to make sure we got on Toy Story Mania and got Fastpasses.

Same here!! My friend sent me it because I had a shift while we were CPs that I was at the cart on the other side of the train station at opening.

What is Epcot & HS rope drop?

EPCOTs has the test track car that drives by and the original characters (mickey, goofy, pluto, etc.). DHS one wasn't anything. My friend always does the park opens and told me it was like the show is starting but when we went in October it wasn't that.

We get it at 11 Christmas night and I think I'll have to get up and go to the MK open before our breakfast at Wilderness Lodge!! At MK I don't go sprinting to the rides I go roam my MSE shops!!

In october we stayed at Pop and we made sure we were at the bus an hour before open. Each time we had a decent amount of time to take pictures and hula hoop.

I'm not a morning person either but for some reason I still can't get up even at WDW...:( Once I am sleeping I want to stay sleeping...
