RnRC New Theme Discussion

As long as the Tower is left intact, fine with me. Although there is perhaps this problem: anyone can enjoy RocknRoller Coaster whether you're an Aerosmith fan or not, because rock is rock and almost everybody loves some type of it. But what if you've never seen Guardians of the Galaxy (I haven't and don't care to)? Could a non-fan enjoy such a Guardians retrofit?

And of course there's also this: why doesn't TDO just build a *GASP* BRAND NEW RIDE INSTEAD????
They could always retain a cameo of Steven Tyler with one last song during the ride.
After all.. Guardians of the Galaxy has a very big song portfolio.

Thankfully right now there is a real worry about DHS capacity now and in the near future.

Regarding RnRc, what year is Guardians set in again? The 1930s?
What year is Aerosmith set and how does their music fit any better than a soundtrack of 70's/80's songs? Oh, yeah right, Aerosmith doesn't fit any better. It's 70's/80's too. Even some 90's.

When was the last time RnRC had any significant track/car work? In December, the ride was rough and significantly degraded from last summer. Wondering if it needs to go down sooner rather than later for track work, which would trigger a new overlay?

I agree that GoTG would be the best fit into RnRC of existing IPs, however, I'm in the camp that I don't see a need to change the Aerosmith overlay right now. Aerosmith music has turned out to be more resilient to aging than I originally expected.

It doesn't. G-Force records, its backstory and its connection to the hotel does.
Yes, but G-Force records could easily still be part of the theming. The ride has a soundtrack, no need to get rid of G-Force.

Point is, Aerosmith doesn't fit the 1930's theme so GotG is truly no different. And what you are describing is the loosest form of a backstory. I've never known until you just said it that G-Force Records is supposed to be connected to 1930's Hollywood somehow.

Feel free to Google it. It exists.

I'm just watching King Kong.
If you have to Google it, it ain't a story.

To play devil's advocate, it's not 1930s Hollywood. The Hollywood Tower Hotel was from the 1930s, but time has passed and it's since been abandoned.

Hey! I didn't write it!

Something along the lines of recording artists would stay at the hotel. Bands at the Tip Top Club would record there. The hotel closed, work dried up, so they diversified into different musical genres.

Hence the Art Deco courtyard and facade. It's era is of the 30s. I agree - for what its worth - GotG music wouldn't harm the theme. But GotG itself could. Another reason to do it right - unlike Frozen - and build a proper attraction for the IP.

The problem is don't they only have Theme park usage of GotG until 2019 when the next Avengers comes out? They wouldn't even finish building it by then.

I'm afraid I'm not up to speed with the Marvel fan universe and who's in which one. Apart from Agents of Steel and liking the first Iron Man. And that Battle of Chicago thingy.

I tend to agree with this. I had no idea that G-force Records had any connections to ToT and, honestly, RnR always seemed like a very out of place addition to Sunset Blvd. Perhaps there's some convoluted backstory to make it "fit", but even if so -- no reason you couldn't make just as reasonable a backstory for GotG there.

Regardless, the better option is just making RnR a different "land"; it's not particularly integrated with Sunset Blvd anyway.

don't exaggerate....2018 and 2020.

If Star Wars is indeed going into SoA/LMA as seems to be the growing consensus, one benefit is that it will likely open sooner and close to the late 2018 timeframe of DL's version of the land. I'd guess by the second half of 2019 at the latest, maybe even for the summer there.
