Ridiculous: Everyone is forced to stand now in the Wishes fastpass area.

The light towers do not lower.

Reminds me of "Cover the field with lights!"

Ive been guilty of stepping on people that I didn't see. Learned a few new words in Portuguese that way.

I see both sides of the equation here and frankly... if there's no one in there? Fine, sit, spread out. If its an insane night? Nope. It should be a "use your common sense" approach to the situation, rather than a hard and fast policy, IMO.

Any rules on tripods?

This tripod?

Wellllllllllllll. No being a tripod in front of the kiddies. In front of Ms. Spears different story;)

Honestly standing is no big deal. For me personally I wear light colors when in Disney and I really don't feel like sitting on the ground and getting my clothes messed up. Seriously have you looked at what people do walking around? That being said, the hub is really a standing room only theater, mainly for Wishes, which on my last viewing was mediocre at best. I feel a distance for viewing is better, as someone else said, at the Poly. Or even the TTC ferry dock.

:eek:We did use a fastpass for Wishes, or rather my wife did. Not worth a fastpass, even in the rose garden.:banghead:

Say what you will but it is what she wanted to do, so..............

I've seen wishes from just about everywhere. All three monorail resorts. TTC dock. All MK lands. In front of the castle. Behind the castle. The Hub. The Rose Garden. (pour one out) BTMRR. 429. Halfway on the shoulder of 429. Florida's Turnpike. Halfway on the shoulder of Florida's Turnpike.

And there's not really a bad spot to see it. No need to cram the hub. No need to surround yourself with several thousand people.

Behind the castle, across from Belle and next to Snowcoaster might be my new fav spot. Nice and open.

The problem is that guests at WDW labor under the misconception that they can sit down most anywhere. I'm always amused by the number of guests that sit down in the middle of the floor in the preshow at Ellen's Energy Adventure. As Ellen is battling Stupid Judy in Jeopardy, more guests are entering the preshow area having just come from the bright sunlight outside. Their eyes have not yet adjusted to the dim theater and as they walk, inevitably they either bump into siting guests or step on their fingers. And the people sitting on the floor act as if they've been victimized! Sitting on a bench or chair is one thing but sitting on the floor is not too bright. Sitting on the curb on MS USA watching the parade is another example.

Oh and to add to the cockroach theme. I was always told never too crush a roach with your shoe, in case its pregnant the eggs can get stuck in the grooves of your shoes and then hatch in your home.

I bet some would sit on benches if they could find them.

As much as I love to watch Wishes. It is not smart to do so while sitting on the ground in the dark with a few thousand of your Earthly companions. It is a major safety Issue. I cannot tell you how many times I have almost been trampled by guests not paying attention while standing in the hub with a stroller and someone has their face in a smartphone or think they deserve to walk right through your party. Some guests are just very rude I have found out. This is not your living room or backyard. Just because there is fake grass does not imply that Disney wants you to sit in your own personal garden and watch some fireworks.

I agree! I like to scout out new areas in the various MK Lands to view and take pic of the fireworks from.

Reading the original post that started this I get an image of relaxed people lounging all around the hub watching the fireworks while a ton of ticked off and sweaty people are crammed like a Japanese subway train into a tiny fenced area. But thank goodness they used a FP+ option for this experience.

OK, the REAL reason that you are asked to stand is really quite simple...and goes unmentioned. Gas. That's right; when you sit and pass gas, it gets trapped in the fake grass thus causing either a potential meltdown of the grass (depending on recent intake) or, at the very least a large release at the end of the show when 'all rise'.
Now, if you stand and 'release' - the cloud is dispersed and there's no risk of 'fake grass gas passed' melting. Thanks in advance for your cooperation in matters of our mutual concern.

Don't even ask about Fastpass gas passed melting the fake grass.
