And now for something completely different

Dan - glad to be of service. A great show that will be missed. I have a Festival of the Lion King ready to upload soon too.

And now for something completely different - a puzzle. Years ago I stumbled upon a great puzzle maker for the PC called BrainsBreaker. What I liked was I could make a puzzle out of any picture. Well, the latest version allows you to make guest puzzles. So - I did. The guest mode limits you to 50 pieces max, the regular version is limitless I think.

So, there is a new directory in RU//Puzzles with my first one. A picture of Snow White dancing, Dumbo is there too. The picture is from 1972.

Please let me know what you think of it. If you like the puzzles, I will do more. I just realized this probably isn't the correct thread for this, so future notices will be in a different thread. The one thing that does belong is that I plan on taking frame captures from rides and making them into puzzles.

Let me know if you want to see more.

Ok, after weeks of shooting/editing/compressing and 44 straight grueling hours of uploading to popkid's irc server, i present to you the culmination of my work...........

	Great Movie Ride (DivX, VCD, WMV)
!dizvideos -> Attraction Videos -> Animal Kingdom
	Festival Of The Lion King (DivX, VCD, WMV)

Check out the screencaps and details of each video here http://mywebpages.comcast.net/prd3000/New Video Screencaps - Bamboo7.pdf

check them out, give me your feedback!
note - each video is available as a DivX, VCD, and WMV file.
The divxs are the super-high quality, High Resolution ones. The VCDs are about the same size (file size) as the DivXs, but worse compression and much lower resolution. Only use those if you require VCD for your dvd player. The final format, the WMV files, are for those users on dial up. The quality is very low, as is the resolution and frame rate, but the file sizes are much smaller.

enjoy!

Dan - sharp looking captures. I dloaded TTA and GMR. Can the people in front of you on TTA look any more bored. :lol:

One question - I was getting a lot of pops/static in the playback. Is anyone else? I tested some other clips and it was only these 2 that I got the pops.

Jedi - Great - I missed it and wanted to see it.

pops and clicks? i don't have that when i play them back. one side not - with the DivX versions, they are at a pretty high res, and you can have playback issues at fullscreen and even at 100% if you don't have a powerfull processor. You can either set the zoom to 50%, or just look at the vcd versions if you experience this problem.

I have a 2.6 processor running with 512K DDRam. I should have the power needed. I will experiment some and see what I can find. I would be interested if anyone else is having problems with the Divx version.

Note - I have no video loss, they look great, the audio is what I am having problems with.

As expected my Pentium III 667 with 768MB PC133 ram cannot handle the playback of Dan's DIVX vids.. not even at 50% size. Bummer. I hate to give up the quality and resolution of the DIVX, but I might have to in order for any DIVX version to play on my systems. I'll try it on my wife's computer (amd XP1800+).

I think i already know what you are gonna say :)

XBOX => mod chip
PS2 => Qcast Tuner
Dreamcast => divx (reduce quality/resolution substantially). mono audio and burn to cdr

I have a PS2 and Dreamcast. The dreamcast quality for divx just doesn't do it for me on my 57" hdtv. my friend has Qcast for his PS2. He said it is great. it requires a home network which shouldn't be a problem. Also broadband adapters are more readily available finally. I may have to get Qcast.

But believe me.. I have looked at all the options. The thing is I have a dedicated home theater PC built from a Duron 600Mhz, hollywood+ card (for mpeg2), generic coax-digital soundcard and Audio Authority transcoder (to go from VGA=>components for my HDTV). yes.. the HTPC is underpowered, but it can play almost anything I throw at it with the exception of divx with resolutions higher than 512X384 or very high bitrate (otherwise it stutters real bad). My main PC (the PIII) can't hack much bigger either. MPEG2 is never a problem.. the Hollywood+ card takes care of that. I'd get an Xcard for the HTPC to playt divx, but the problem with it is that it doesn't handle the older DIVX3.11a codec, which like 95% of the divx AVIs I have use. I think it is time to save some money and buy a faster processor for at least the HTPC and a new mobo/cpu for my main PC. It'll be a long while before I can handle that though. The few frames I have seen of Dan's TTA video look superb. I'll probably re-encode it at 512X384 because it will still be better quality than the VCD and windos media versions. Though I may just get lazy and grab his VCD versions since I've been very busy encoding other things lately like Rescue Rangers episodes. :lol: The VCDs should play fine on either pC or my standalone DVD players.

I got a question about irc? How fast can files be transferred? My connections usually run 20K/sec when i get files? is that the average speed or can it be faster.

just wondering :)

That's a little slow, I hit in the mid 30's most of the time. Maybe try a couple of the other servers.

I would be interested if anyone in what everyone else is getting.
