wow, i just noticed the 'digital media' section... nice touch :) how long has that been there?

here's the first part of Project Florida. the quality of this isn't so hot, mainly because the VHS copy I have of it seems to have been recorded from a filmstrip. it contains some footage from the Epcot 1966 video - but also some great behind the scenes stuff. anyone have a better copy of this?

<a href="ftp://wdwmagic:media@12.33.77.254/video/projectflorida001.wmv">Project Florida - Part 1 of 4</a>
length: 5:23
size: 8.73MB
format: .wmv

Hey popkid...Are we getting the rest of these. I don't care about the bad quality, I want to see the next 3 parts.

Just keep trying. I had to keep right-clicking on the file for about four or five times before it stopped giving me the error message.

Guys... don't miss this deal if you want to go into digital editing.
From TechBargains.com ...

WesternDigital 80GB 7200 RPM drive pricematch, Mar 6
SOME local (not online) Circuit City's have the drive for $149.99 with a $40 gift card. Best Buy has it for $199 w/$75 rebate. Buy it from a local Bestbuy and have them pricematch Circuit city. Final cost $149.99 - $75 rebate = $74.99. (Thanks Andy) With any pricematch, your mileage will vary

I just did this with a little work. I went to Circuit City and purchased the drive for $149. Then I went to Best Buy and showed them the receipt from Circuit City when I purchased the drive there and they reluctantly they price-matched. They even provided the rebate form which is extremely atypical for my local Best Buy. Like the post says.. your mileage will vary, but you cannot beat a 80GB fast spin (7200rpm) harddrive for only $75+tax after rebate.

I hope all your Disney Digital Editing wizards can get on this deal also. :)

I'm assuming you don't actually have to buy the drive at Circuit City, right? Just somehow prove that circuit city has it at this price? How does that work?

The only reason I had to actually buy the drive at Circuit City was because my Best Buy was being a pain in the butt and refused to pricematch unless they say physical proof that it was $149 at Circuit City, so I got them proof. I am returing the drive to Circuit City in a day or so.

This thread at FatWallet.com should help explain the deal and give tips on how to do this. There are links to things you can print to show your Best Buy. Mine looked at them and laughed basically, but good luck to you.

Not bad..especially for a Western Digital...I just got a 120 not too long ago for like 210 (not a bad deal considering i got a 15 gig 2 years ago for 290)....HardDrives and ram are cheap now kids..get em while you can ;)

Just wait until you cannot make any digital movies on hard drives. I read somewhere the future harddrive will have some sort of protection mechanism built in to control the digital things you put on them. That's going to be bad for digital movie making... unless home videos and Disney attractions don't count. :)

I can't wait to get my new 80GB drive going, but I am waiting for a RAID IDE card adapter I ordered (which won't probably come until next week). I can't decide if I will use RAID or not. As it stands I have:

Two Seagate 27GB 7200rpm drives (about full of 'stuff')
One Western Digital 80GB 7200rpm drive
Dual boot Win98/2K

Will have RAID card that says existing HD not-on-the-RAID card required to have Win2000 on it in order for RAID to work in win2K. That sorta hampers the config.. unless I can figure out a slick way of dropping a ghost image of my current dual boot config on a virtual drive (combined seagate drives). any ideas?

I don't know anything about RAID.. I wouldn't worry about the copyright protections, they never stick and they never will.

That project florida video is really cool, that must be ancient!

Instead of separate parts, I'm gonna try to put the whole Epcot Souvenir video into 1 avi using DIVX 5 (just released). We'll see how it goes..

If you guys have trouble getting large files just use ReGet, it's killer.

Hmm...I dont see that catching on..especially since there are about a thousand or so people in Florida alone just like me who make our living from doing freelance out of our houses...which involves a lot of digital movies....

There is never a sure fire way to "lock people" out...there will always be a way around it...
