Does anyone else think that Pixie Hollow should be Wonderland or Neverland, or something, instead of a whole area devoted to Tinkerbell and her direct to dvd movies that most people don't care about.

Correction: most people DO care about Tink's direct-to-video movies!

End of story.

Hm... I wonder when we will be getting some more info on the FYL expansion same with Star Tours. I'm thinking the next time we will get info is when all the holidays end. I'm thinking around early 2010 or so.

Is anyone else having a hard time actually picturing this? When I close my eyes, all I can see is the current FYL.

That being said, I'm extremely excited about the expansion.. I just can't 'see' it yet.

Are you,like, 12?

No, like, I'm not!

But I do know that it's a growing franchise that has amazing opportunities, and it's a storyline that teaches great morals and lessons to kids. It's empowering for girls to be able to think that "tinkering" (engineering and thinking) is cool, and it's one of the ONLY Disney movies that I have seen where the heroine and hero are just best friends and don't have to fall in love at the end! So there's more to it than direct-to-DVD movies that "no one cares about" because there's no reason NOT to care about them. Tink finally has a backstory and isn't portrayed as a pouty little brat anymore. Disney is creating immersive experiences for Guests online in a virtual world, and having that area of the park could be a great opportunity to bring it to life.

That number also includes Star Tours II and I believe some of the other projects at the other Disney parks (Anahiem, Hong Kong). If it really is close to $1 billion for just Fantasyland then either Disney overpaid or theres some really eleborate stuff they haven't unvieled yet.

Correct.

Also, keep in mind Disney accounts for their projects differently than outside sources (and differently from Universal). When they quote these prices they are never specific about what it includes. The do not say if this is hard costs only or does it include soft costs. Does it include executive salaries (for those executives spending a considerable amount of time overseeing the projects). Does it include cost of facilities that are used for multiple projects (WDI Glendale) or a percentage of the costs associated with the facilities? Does it include the salaries of the support staff? There is just no way to make any kind of judgement without knowing what these costs include.

I don't think we have anything to worry about here in terms of TDO cutting the FL expansion project. Look how much money they just saved by cutting LoW! Should be enough to cover any expense......

I can't believe people are still pounding the anti-TDO drum. They have lost all authority on the big decisions so you wasting bandwidth acting like they make those decisions.

Plus they have a new boss.

I think they wanted to send the message the FL and MK expansion are still a go after the management changes.

And nothing has or will be cut.

It's art....we don't know that yet.

However, I'm not worried, despite the numerics that we have. These things always get the boot.

Um... we have every right to continue to bang the anti-TDO drum - maybe not on Fantasyland, but there has been a desire to maintain the status quo for too long. The see no need for seasonal overlays when they prove to be mind bogglingly successful in Disneyland. They have cut the scope of the recent refurbishments, and most importantly - they seemingly don't strive for excellence.

Why wouldn't we continue to lambaste TDO?

Well said. There's nothing wrong with holding people accountable and to a certain standard.
