Review of Summer Nightastic

Hello all. I was at MK last night to view the old-new parade and the fireworks. I watched the parade from liberty square and the fireworks from crystal palace.

Parade - I honestly disliked it. I wanted it to end only a minute after it started. I know the music is a classic to some, but it honestly was painful for me to listen to. It felt like tomorrowland on steroids. The parade seemed like an out of date attraction that was brought back for a few days for all of the die hards. The floats had some changing lights, but it was often that you wouldnt seem them change in the stretch of viewing space that you had. All of the performers seemed tired. Overall, you never expect to go backwards in technology from the previous show when at Disney. August 14th can not come soon enough.

Fireworks - AMAZING! At first I was upset because I could see all of the fireworks. They were not centered over the castle, more off to the left. But then as the show goes on, it turns into a 180 degree show, which was such a change. A lot of the fireworks were new shapes and colors, which was cool. I think the best part of the blending of Peter Pan and Pirates together. I never had expected them to play Pirates. They also had a fireworks battle on and around the castle, which was really cool. Overall, I would be extremely excited if they got rid of Wishes and kept this.

Those are my 2 cents. I am sure that I will take a lot of heat for this.

Wishes can leave ASAP as far as I'm concerned. The little girl voice singing "wishes" is so terrible to me. It messes up the truly magical moments when sound bytes from the classic Disney films are being played.

Where were you standing? The fireworks are launched from the usual Wishes launch location (plus the additional perimeters), so you shouldn't have ahd a problem, unless you were not standing straight-on.

I never cared for MSEP either. The music does not phase me and the floats have an old appeal to them.

There`s no way M3 will replace Wishes. 68 nights is one thing, and I`m amazed the budget was passed for this, but it is too expensive to do all the time.

I was standing in front of Crystal Palace. If I stood any closer, I would not have been able to see the whole show. There was a lot going on over in the Adventureland directions, which seemed to be way too far to the left for it to just be me standing slightly off center. It was definitely more of a full park fireworks show, rather than just the castle.

While I prefer spectro over MSEP, I'm actually making plans to watch MSEP one night during my trip, something I haven't done for spectro in years. It may not be my personal fav parade, but I'm sure it will be good.

I'm super excited about seeing MSEP again, but I'm also really looking forward to seeing the new fireworks show. Wishes has run well past its course (of course I think Reflections of Earth is even more past its prime) and I'm excited about seeing something new. Hopefully Wishes will get a permanent replacement soon.

I was watching from the back of the hub and they were most definatly not off to the left. Everything was lined up perfectly and there was no wind at all to effect the flight of the fireworks. The pyro itself was more impressive but Wishes is a better overall show in my opinion.

I would love Wishes if they got rid of the song

I am looking forward to the new fireworks show but definitely not MSEP. What you've stated is what I was afraid of. MSEP has been around far too long. It's going to be outdated, technology-wise, and since it's a DL fav, not a WDW fav, it's not going to be performed with as much gusto. that's just my opinion. I am still going to see it, though. I have the music in my vehicle. Personally, although it's not horrible music, I couldn't see it being a finale for the day.

wishes and spectro

I watched the videos that were posted, I really like the new fireworks, but I feel that wishes is a more quality show. I do not get all the hatred to the song though ... someone please enlighten me why it sounds bad, i think it sounds magical.

Also, I really like Spectro but find it magical to have MSEP here for the summer (or two). I was thinking about making a trip down to see it.

Overall, I really enjoy the nighttime entertainment offered at WDW and wouldn't want to see any of it change. Maybe in 2-5 years I'll change my mind, but every show creates the perfect mood, and feeling for that specific park and atmosphere.

"Wishes, dream a dream, Wishes, set it free, Wishes trust your heart, just believe. Just beeliiive, JUST BELIEVE!!!" Like a bolt out of the blue............."

ok, its more annoying to read then hear. I like the full soundtrack of the show, and think it fits perfectly.

But after seeing DL's "magical", wishes is kinda :snore:

In other words, you hate kids.

Shame on you, you adult bully! You've got lots more growing up and maturing to do!

Saw the parade twice on the 5th once on the 6th and the fireworks on both nights. I loved the parade. Whether MSEP is better or worse than Spectro is a matter of opinion but I for one am simply happy to see something different. I can not remember the last time I was excited to see a Disney parade. I have not seen MSEP in over a decade and my kids have never see it.

The fireworks were incredible. IMHO 3M is simply the best fireworks show ever done at MK but yet again I was simply glad to see something different.

I hope this is a sign of things to come. WDW has what is in essence 3 seasonal overlays right now. If they are successful logic would dictate that we might see more.

We watched MSEP on the 6th and it was nice to see again. However Spectromagic is definitely better, I actually think the music though has something to do with it as Spectro's music seems more high energy.

It was also great to see the fireworks when it was not poring rain because we went to the P&P Party twice and both times it rained almost the whole night :(

Well, I've only seen them via the "magic" of Youtube, but I love them both! :D

I don't know if it's the "something different" thing Master Yoda mentioned or not, but I will say, I thought the characters in the parade did a WONDERFUL job! If they don't like the new parade, you'd never know it! And I am totally going to dig up my parent's old VHS copy of Pete's Dragon now. I really loved the dancing under the light canopies.

I also loved the fireworks. Those expanded parameters (is that the right word?) must be amazing in person - make you feel like you are surrounded by fireworks. And fireworks off the castle? Amazing! I also liked all the shapes - hearts, skull, etc.

I will say, that I didn't start to tear up with the new fireworks until the end of the Sleeping Beauty medley. With Wishes, I start to cry as soon as that first "star" shoots across the sky.....when you wish upon a star.... :ROFLOL:
