There is music but it's barely noticeable.
I do like the "Starry-O-Phonic" sound (or whatever it's called). It makes it sound effects seem more dimensional, as they aren't just blasting it right in your ears. The last helix where it goes "Woo, woo, woo, WOOO" is my favorite part!

And off topic, but why haven't you submitted your thing for Theme Park Apprentice yet?! It's just me and Karly and they were due last night...

Mummy has been fairly unimpressive since it first opened. It's a fun ride, don't get me wrong, but it's nothing on the level of Spider-Man, Harry Potter or Kongfrontation for its time. If Transformers is similar to Spidey, it will easily trump Mummy in Universal Studios. When the effects are working, they're not really that impressive. It just feels like they ran out of money when making it, so you end up with awkward guard statues in the treasure room and the coaster portion with funhouse theming. Oh and I've heard the arguments that the treasure room mummies are accurate to the movie by not moving, but it still feels wrong. I could swear there was a press release for this ride that spoke of effects that never made it into the ride. This is a monster show building that previously contained massive impressive sets. Now, it's like mostly a dark warehouse building. It sort of feels like a watered-down Indy Adventure.

I feel like all dark-ride/roller coaster hybrids suffer the same problem of not having a lot to look at during the coaster portion of the ride. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster suffers a similar fate, where you just have cardboard cut-outs of palm trees and highway signs to look at.

I believe Revenge of the Mummy makes up for it with the fantastic queue and dark-ride portion of the ride. The guard statues being static always did bother me, but coupled with the Imhotep projection in front of you, fire effects, the gold of the treasure room and the dramatic music, they don't seem too bad. Their initial pop-up is also very impressive, and a little frightening!

I know there is sound effects, but I've never noticed music.
Same score that plays at unload. A techno beat version of the Anaheim / Hong Kong theme. Giacchino didn't record it and that alone sent shock waves.

While I like the pop up Mummies, the ones in Hollywood that drop down towards the vehicle are way cooler!

I wish our Imhotep animatronics would get an upgrade too!

Oh my gosh yes....my first ride Starting out in the MK refurbed Space Mountain, hearing the similar theme to SM Disneyland got me excited...but then it turned into a crappy techno-music-here-and-there experience and just completely disappointed me.

The soundtrack in Disneyland is awesome!

Hollywood has all the cool effects that come at ya from the ceiling. Like the first encounter with the T-Rex on their Jurassic Park Ride.

True, but Space Mountain is the exception, with the planetarium-esque starfield on the ceiling. Something as relatively simple as that seriously elevates that experience and makes it the definitive indoor coaster. I would have preferred more sets within Mummy. Truthfully, I judge it against Kong, which was all sets. I just can't believe they demolished all that stuff. I had hoped they might keep the New York sets inside to a degree and begin it in a New York antiquities museum and then the Mummy gets loose in the city. You know, sort of like in the second movie when they're in London. Could have been a lot cooler than a dark warehouse.

Hopefully Mummy get's a good refurb prior to Phase II opening so that Mummy doesn't look like walmart when compared to Gringotts...
Didn't Mummy just get a new entrance, upgraded projections and upgraded lighting effects?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it needs a refurb.

It did, but i'm talking about taking out "Where's my coffee!",Upgrading AA's, and new effects. That was more of a prefurb IMO

Sincere question to the folks saying Gringotts will be "totally immersive" - what's that being based off of? Would these people say that FJ - the ride itself, not the queue - is immersive? (I would not, for what it's worth)

Prefurb? I wouldn't expect them to do anything else with Mummy in the foreseeable future. Certain major changes would be welcomed, but I doubt they'll ever be made.

FJ has soooo many empty black areas. Something management are well aware of and won't replicate. FJ has a cool ride system but can be visual-lite. Gringotts is meant to address that.
