If I'm not mistaken the amount of points given (or taken away) depends on a few things... the length of membership, the state of their rep and possibly a few other things as well.

so like, if you give me a good rep point, it counts more than someone who joined last week giving me a good point?

Thats the way it works. The longer you are here, the more rep you earn the more you give or take away. I'm sure Steve has a cap on it, but I don't know what it is.

I understand most of this. Except why do some people have bright green rep boxes mixed with some dark green ones? (i.e., Tigsmom) and the same with Woody's red ones. Some are bright red and some are dark.

what i understand is that bright green happends after 5 boxes.. meaning dark green has 100 points in them... bright green has 200 points in them..... or thats what it is like at pther forums....

Each box represents 100 points, it just seems that after 5 they go to the lighter color.

are you sure... cause i know after a point they do not excede.... like remember how many red woody had.... he had tons.. as he got postive.. his bright red slowly became darkred untill they are where he is now... still in the red but not as bad as before...

so you do not have 900 reps... only 700??

I've found that the people who tend to give bad rep needlessly don't usually have enough power to really make a difference. They either come out gray or only knock off one point.
