I know there are lots of work going on at downtown disney and pleasure island at the moment, with replacing the club scene but does anyone know whats replacing virgin megastores,I understand its a bit early yet. Thanks guys!
(As a HUGE music fan im gutted!)
I'm really think there is a market for a store that sells rare and imported LP's and CD's however. People love to browse the bins for that rare gem.
I strip mall in Kissimmee but not at DTD they wouldnt make the cash to make rent.
Whatever takes its place needs to be something a bit more special than a record shop but its a big place to fill. Knowing Disney they will just stick a toys r us in their.
I thinkk I have said it before but I want to see that American Girl store appear after seeing all the kids with them in NYC. It seems popular and I saw Jon & Kate plus 8 go to the store on TV and seems to fit in with family entertainment and they also had some dining in the place which would go down well in DTD. I have to say I do find the dolls freaky as hell. Maybe also a small build a bear on the ground floor too?
ANYTHING is better than the wanna be gang banger clubs that was there.
During the weekends, it was a thug hangout and 90% locals...and not good locals...if you know what i mean. That IS a major reason for the whole change to P.I. Hopefully, it will become just an expansion of shopping and eating.
But regardless, good riddance to the old P.I. It was 100% the opposite of what Disney is. It wasnt a good image at all.
According to stats..only 15% or so of vacationers even used P.I. It was pretty much a local club scene.

Oh, that's so much BULL SHUT. The clientele was controlled by Disney. The local's presence was a direct effect of managements decisions controlling the gate.
And as far as your comment on it hopefully becoming an "expansion of shopping and eating", good luck getting vendors in there now. (Like we really need more shops selling the same merchandise that every other shop carries. Or another mediocre restaurant selling the same overpriced DDP fare that you can get elsewhere.) Between the economy and the fact that it's now a wasteland, it's not a very attractive property for outside vendors. Never kill something before you have a definitive plan for it's replacement
That's the definition of bad management in my book.

Seriously!I'm so glad you responded to that post before I saw it. Because it was 100% not true.
I totally disagree. The AC was perfectly Disney. Who says Disney can't have nightclubs or adult-oriented venues? Please.alecshawn said:But regardless, good riddance to the old P.I. It was 100% the opposite of what Disney is. It wasnt a good image at all.
Source? And relevancy?alecshawn said:According to stats..only 15% or so of vacationers even used P.I.
No the clientele WASNT controlled very well  And YES, that was a HUGE reason for P.I.'s demise....But in anycase, it isnt there anymore, thank goodness! and YES, shopping and food is whats in all probability going to be there.Oh, that's so much BULL SHUT. Odd. I was there a couple times a month, on average, and never saw a bad element. Certainly not at AC. Can't vouch for the dance clubs. And no, it wasn't the main reason for the closure. Not at all, I assure you.No the clientele WASNT controlled very well  And YES, that was a HUGE reason for P.I.'s demise....
Which is exactly what is wrong. PI should be there, should all be open, and I should be there. At least AC...But in anycase, it isnt there anymore, thank goodness! and YES, shopping and food is whats in all probability going to be there.
Its all a moot point. P.I. is gone. It aint coming back. The A.C. isnt either.
A.C. actually wasnt too bad, it was the ONLY nice thing there, but the rest brought it down also.
Disney did the right thing by closing P.I.
Clearly, it didnt fit the image and a good decision was made to end it.
