Two points I want to make:
1. It's a classic, don't get rid of it.
2. Never forget point 1.

I couldn't agree more. The Speedway takes up too much real estate on some of the most valuable land Disney owns. Fantasyland adjacent land cannot be wasted. The Speedway is a perfect style attraction for Hollywood Studios. Give it a Cars theme and true scenery and it will be a solid C ticket for a park that needs something other than E's.The speedway has to go.
Big plot of land.
Lame ride. Kids want to drive on it and it is very tame. Problem is they aren't big enough to reach the pedals. I know by the time my kids could drive the speedway cars they had been on go karts. They were disappointed when they finally could drive the cars.
Something else needs to go into that plot of land possible multiple attractions. If you did small children rides like the Tea Cups or something like that you could put 10 -15 attractions in there. It would spread out the crowd.
Except I can't go to every gas station in the world and smell Horizons. You need to blow your nose
The Speedway smell is as synonymous with the area as oranges were to Horizons.
No, I'm not forcing anyone to think the way I think. What I would like people to do is stop forgetting that there are other people in the world besides themselves and that it does matter to kids and their memories and not everything should be leaning toward the wants of grownups.
It's not that great. Far too much was wasted on the roof canopy.I obviously haven't seen the coaster in person, but am I the only one who wasn't that impressed by it? It's "cool" and all but no thanks.
This is a classic. I repeat. This is a classic.
If the Tomorrowland Speedway is a classic (And therefore untouchable) then we are significantly expanding the definition of classic. I fully understand the need to have an attraction like this that allows kids to drive a car. What I steadfastly disagree with is the current version of the attraction. It's simply a horrible use of space. I'd be content with it staying in the Magic Kingdom if the entire track is redone and it's a multi use area where additional attractions can be incorporated in and around the Speedway track. Alternatively, move it to DHS and give it a Cars theme. Two points I want to make:

Have I mentioned that I think it's a small world should also be relocated to Epcot for similar reasons?

No, and you shouldn't have mentioned it.... please don't.
I guess I'm not able to make myself understood on this. My opinion is that it shouldn't be taken out, modified maybe, but not eliminated and replaced by something that omits children from the mix. The opinions that are unimportant is whatever side we fall on in the discussion. To me the opinion that it is alright to just say... get rid of it because I don't like it and I don't care if children do or not, is a little heavier and harder to balance. So if all we were doing is expressing yes, bulldoze it or no keep it with no reasoning for that opinion then that would indeed be the end of it.It's simply an opinion that it should be replaced. Yours is that it shouldn't. We've all got 'em. Aren't you technically arguing against what you kinda do? You really don't need to get so worked up over it. It's not like we're making the decisions here, LOL. I do think you make quite a few valid points but sometimes it does get a bit bogged down and comes across as telling others how to think.

What about monkeys and typewriters? Now I eagerly await the next post involving a blind squirrel and/or a broken clock.

However, I just don't understand how people can deprive a sections of guest that finds the attraction important to them can be so callously dismissed as unimportant and not worthy of consideration. And for what... WDW does not need the space it takes up... they still have massive amounts of land that they can use if they so chose. New additions are not hinging on it being there or not being there. What part of that do people not understand?
That said, since there doesn't seem to be any real solid plan in place yet to replace it we have all had our say and I guess we need to just drop the discussion. I'm in favor of that. When it is established that something is going to change that... then assuming the discussion will have some meaning.
I don't disagree and I have stated more then once that they could indeed update it, get rid of the gas driven cars, use technology to maintain the feel of the attraction and let it continue to be a child's tomorrow. That has been the total extent of what I have been saying.Well, Martin has all but implied something will be happening with the speedway between now and four years or so, so I do think it merits some discussion.
I know you weren't directing a lot, or any of this, towards me, but I personally think they could and should update it, but it's clear they aren't, at least right now, so it's prime real estate. I'd like to see some form of being able to drive your own vehicle stay, I completely understand that there's an audience for it.
Again though, I don't get why someone saying they want it to go bothers anyone? It's just their opinion, so who cares? It's not going away yet and they aren't making the decisions in regards to it.
Anyway ... I do get what you're trying to say but you just seemed so bothered at the thought, yet it's just someone expressing their opinion, it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things what you or I think about it. They will do what they want to do, and two castle parks have ripped up or will rip up their Speedways. And Disneyland has even had plans in the past to do away with it. It's really not long for this world. It is kind of a shame to lose it, but life would go on (and I know you know all of this ....)
That works too. I'd even allow Wreck-it Ralph to stay in the MK if the land can be better utilized. Perhaps make the area joint use with part of an indoor portion as the Wreck-it Ralph theme with the Tron Coaster going overhead and separated from it.I'm right here with you. We really need to get Small World moved
I get it with the CARS theme but I'd prefer Wreck-it-Ralph.

It's a numbers game though. It uses enough real estate for 3-4 Haunted Mansion sized attractions and has horrible capacity. If the Speedway's capacity was 1200 guests per hour, I'd be surprised. The attraction is a poor use of space, and it's an attraction that has an aged based shelf life. The number of people over the age of 16 that ride it without a child is minimal. It IS a classic, and when you move it, redesign it, etc., it looses it's classic status. You are also making it out to be an annoyance, instead of a fun little experience. Disney has a bad history when it comes to replacing classics, remember that.
I am available to make these types of decisions. I feel that a handful of people on these boards could better setup the parks for the short term and long term.I've had so many similar ideas as you ... why aren't we running these parks?

If Walt and Roy were still in charge the speedway would likely have been removed sometime in the 80's.This is a classic slave to purely numbers mentality, that left unchecked, will ultimately end up destroying Walt and Roy's incredible vision.
