I don't hate Autopia in Disneyland. They care about it and refresh it. The Tomorrowland Speedway is dated. I don't want to see the 'drive your own car' go away so to speak but if they aren't going to care for it, it's a large patch of land that something else could go on. I really don't know why they don't update it to Sugar Rush Speedway and bridge the two lands that way.

Well the insiders on here are dismissing this, I'll point people to other things that Jim had first that was denied by other insiders on here:
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train replacing the Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella attractions in New Fantasyland
  • C3PO piloting the Starspeeder in Star Tours 2.0
  • Frozen replacing Maelstrom
  • Third theater for Soarin'
Those are some pretty big "scoops" for a guy that many on these forums think is credible.

Now I eagerly await the next post involving a blind squirrel and/or a broken clock.

He gets knocked a bit unfairly on here, for sure. Rumors are are just that. Rumors. Things shift. Change. Don't happen. It doesn't necessarily mean someone was wrong at the time. People act like he deliberately spreads false information just because. I don't think that's the case. Even the Spirit's been wrong. It happens. It's really not the end of the world and in no way should discredit anyone. At least he's not Clickbait Corless who treats rumors as actual facts and then backtracks.

Good post. People forget our Insiders have been wrong many a time here too--the main difference is, Jim isn't around to defend himself

The way I approach rumors on my site is by tiering them, with the main ones being Blue Sky, In Development and Confirmed. I even spell it out with the following explanations:
  • Dead: A rumor is classified as "Dead" when multiple sources have indicated that the rumored plans are not being currently pursued. It is important to note, however, that ideas are never really "dead" at Disney and it's entirely possible that any “dead” rumor could be revitalized at some point in the future.
  • Blue Sky: A rumor is classified as “Blue Sky” when it is supported only by a single public source, or multiple sources that are providing conflicting information. While rumors frequently contain misinformation, “Blue Sky” rumors typically refer to projects that Disney is seriously considering for development in some form, at some undefined point in the future.
  • In Development: Rumors classified as "In Development" have moved beyond the "Blue Sky" classification. These rumors have typically not been publicly confirmed by the company, but are supported by multiple public sources or a source that appears to have direct knowledge of the project. "In Development" rumors often have timelines and details that are less concrete than "Confirmed" rumors.
  • Confirmed: Rumors classified as "Confirmed" have been publicly confirmed by Disney or are supported by other objective evidence such as permit filings or other public records. There have been instances of Disney confirming a rumor and the project still not happening, but those situations are rare.
  • Completed: A rumor is classified as “Completed” when all aspects of the rumor have been completed.

I've read for years, post rarely. I pray that this actually happens. Tron: Legacy is one of my favorite movies. Great visuals, great soundtrack, action packed, blah storyline. Still has the makings of a great theme park ride as seen in Shanghai.

But, I thought they canned the idea of a sequel to Tron: Legacy after John Carter tanked? Why they thought John Carter was relative is beyond me. Why would Disney invest in something that they cancelled a sequel to especially with all this Guardians of the Galaxy talk?

Regardless, I hope it happens. If you haven't watched the videos of the Tron ride in Shanghai please go watch..

The speedway has to go.

Big plot of land.

Lame ride. Kids want to drive on it and it is very tame. Problem is they aren't big enough to reach the pedals. I know by the time my kids could drive the speedway cars they had been on go karts. They were disappointed when they finally could drive the cars.

Something else needs to go into that plot of land possible multiple attractions. If you did small children rides like the Tea Cups or something like that you could put 10 -15 attractions in there. It would spread out the crowd.
You must have some very short kids. Mine were 6 years old and reached the peddles just fine. And seriously, would you let a 6 year old drive a go cart? I wouldn't, nor would very many parents.

The speedway does not need to go to make a bunch of adults get something that appeals to them. It appeals to small kids. Driving to them is their tomorrow. Can we stop being so damn self centered and realize that even though a Disney park is not just for kids, kids should be included in the scenario. Up until they have the opportunity to drive the speedway their only other option are those spinner cars that go around in circles for about 5 rotations. Let them have something they enjoy. If WDW wants to add Tron they have plenty of room to do so.

I would like to see an updating of the vehicles used on the speedway, perhaps to electric with electronic engine sounds, but, other then that it should still be available to my great, great, great grandchildren. And please no more talk about the awful smell. I have been going there for 35 years and have never once noticed any smell. Pollution, sure, that's why I suggested going to electric, but, none of us that got to WDW in a car, bus, train or airplane has any right to complain about pollution. We have contributed to it on a much grander scale so let's not be hypocritical.

But I like the smell of gas.

You need to blow your nose :D

The Speedway smell is as synonymous with the area as oranges were to Horizons.
Sorry, but, I never have (I have been able to smell the oranges easily). Maybe it is because things like that are never a focus for me. If it is strong enough to cause harm, I will notice. If not I have more important things to do then fret over a minor odor. It is synonymous but, not unanimous! Perhaps the odor from unwashed armpits is overriding that minor problem. It may be there, but, to me it is much more of an exaggeration then a problem.
