Since Disney own The Simpsons, they could have built this restaurant at Epcot:

WDI's desire to link the Muppets with American history dates back to at least 1994 for Disney's American Celebration (a variation of Disney's America). I'm not sure why there's been a decades long interest in mixing the two, but it obviously still has its supporters within Imagineering.

Nice that those supporters are focusing on dedicating real estate to a defunct IP instead of, oh I don't know, fixing the damn Yeti...

Love Sam. This is going to be great.

But I’m also one of those crazy people who think the mission of Epcot Center is to entertain and educate- thus would totally support Muppets taking over the America Adventure. My kids love the muppets. Disney+ is bringing them back - just by making existing movies readily available.

The American Adventure is already educational and entertaining without (gasp!) hand puppets. :p

But EPCOT isn't about education anymore. It's about Princesses in a make believe land in World Showcase, a rat in France, and soon somebody who can fly with an umbrella in the UK. Hand Puppets will do just fine. And truth be told. I'm okay with it. So bring on the Muppets. Give me another dwarfs ride in Germany, and let's do the "dia de los muertos" up in Mexico. We're here now. Why fight it? Let's just get rid of the drunks. (Not the alcohol...just the drunks....big difference)

How educational was Liberty Inn? What did we learn about colonial hamburgers?

Actually that brings up an interesting point.... Liberty Inn had several, now-controversial flags hanging on the wall. By removing actual history from world showcase, and replacing it with fictional Disney history, it makes the park much more “2020” friendly. Same could be said for universe of energy, living seas, etc.

The Muppets aren't defunct - they have a show coming to Disney Plus. Disney just doesn't quite know what to do with them, between Muppets Most Wanted bombing not simply because it was about the Muppets but because it was a crappy movie and the ABC series getting cancelled because people wouldn't stop protesting the more adult nature of the show...

But yeah, why haven't they fixed that yeti?

I thought it was cute 😂

I completely agree. I just wish they'd have stopped at having him in the logo like a cute and for those who know the Mupplets, obvious easter egg that probably would have flown over the heads of everyone else.* I'm not convinced this BBQ restaurant needed a wonky backstory.

I mean, if the annual cook-off that'll apparently be going on 365 is intended as a meta-joke for insiders who are always discussing how Disney is slowly turning this park into a single 365 festival with slight seasonal changes, I suppose I can get behind it but something tells me that's probably not the bullseye they were aiming for. :/

*see what I did there?! did ya see?! Did ya?! ;)
