WDI's desire to link the Muppets with American history dates back to at least 1994 for Disney's American Celebration (a variation of Disney's America). I'm not sure why there's been a decades long interest in mixing the two, but it obviously still has its supporters within Imagineering.

I think since they have involved Sam Eagle they should add a "Statler and Waldorf Burger" to the menu.
It would be made with old dry bread, tough beef jerky, old goat cheese, and topped off with sauerkraut.
Tums would be available for an additional charge.

It is easy jokes to play with as Sam is a fun "straight man" character to bounce off of with his pride and prudance. Even before Disney it was common to see him for the Bicentennial in media.

I would rather have seen this go into Liberty Tree Tavern (along with keeping Great Moments) and have Epcot's BBQ themed to an actual historical figure like Jim Bowie.

Wonder who in the company is such a big fan of Muppets. There seems to be an odd effort to revitalize the franchise throughout all segments and mediums. I don’t really know or care for the Muppets, but the execution in the parks has been fitting thus far. Hopefully this continues that.

The Regal Eagle name is still undoubtedly this restaurant’s biggest issue.
