WDI's desire to link the Muppets with American history dates back to at least 1994 for Disney's American Celebration (a variation of Disney's America). I'm not sure why there's been a decades long interest in mixing the two, but it obviously still has its supporters within Imagineering.

It is easy jokes to play with as Sam is a fun "straight man" character to bounce off of with his pride and prudance. Even before Disney it was common to see him for the Bicentennial in media.

There is no way I will be able to call this the Regal Eagle. No matter how hard I try, I will end up saying Regal Beagle. I think I am also one of the few that finds it very funny.

Yep, same here.
We watched that show every week during its original run.

Does Disney own “Peanuts” yet...?

Wonder who in the company is such a big fan of Muppets. There seems to be an odd effort to revitalize the franchise throughout all segments and mediums. I don’t really know or care for the Muppets, but the execution in the parks has been fitting thus far. Hopefully this continues that.

The Regal Eagle name is still undoubtedly this restaurant’s biggest issue.
