Never say never. Rivers Of Light was reviewed poorly not just by most of us, but by most of the general public, and that thing got tossed into the annals of history lightning quick.

I’m … not entirely sure the rings from Contact would’ve been all that much more appealing than the Stargate. Unless Jodie Foster got catapulted through them for each show or something.

I was thinking just that the other day watching a video of the return of Happily Ever After. Unless this show is truly spectacular, it is so similar to HEA in terms of clips of Disney animated films with fireworks and HEA is so well-liked that there is a decent risk people just see it as a worse version of the MK show. Maybe that doesn't matter so long as guest satisfaction is reasonably high, but also not ideal for what they're trying to do with re-launching Epcot.
I'm also kind of surprised at the images they have released so far, to be honest. I get the impression they really don't want to reveal what IP is in the show and how it's used yet, so this may limit what they can actually share. Still, so far it all just looks... fine. Almost like the barges are big enough that they're an eye sore during the day, but not big enough that they are particularly awe-inspiring when viewed during the show from the edges of the lagoon. Also agree with others that the fountains just look kind of weird and messy in these photos.
I guess we'll see soon enough if these are just bad representations and/or whether it's one of those things that doesn't translate well into photos.
I think it's more likely that it's the same IP we've all seen before and they know this.

The little we've seen suggests this, so I'm not entirely sure why they are being secretive unless it is to avoid the online criticism. It's not like revealing there's a Mulan or Aladdin segment is going to cause waves of pandemonium, for example. Who knows, maybe it largely focuses on A Goofy Movie.

Their not releasing any other clips of the music either for some reason. For past shows they released a behind the scenes video of the soundtrack recording.

All the more odd because we've had an in-depth series of PR posts on the flooring, windows, and ceiling of... a gift shop.
Light Magic has that beat.
There’s a desire to keep the full shows content and themes quiet until opening. Maybe they want a surprise. Maybe they’re aware of the IP backlash. Maybe both.

Do we actually anticipate thematic backlash from the general public? I imagined they were keeping it quiet because a fair amount of the content is similar to Happily Ever After and therefore only seems to make sense in the context of Enchantment debuting.
No. But casual fans make up a lot of the target demographic and even I’ve been surprised at the reactions.

Both. They’re keeping the music secret for a reason. But more the former than the latter.
Casual fans almost never complain about IP. They go to Disney with their children and are happy to see the tykes point and yell "Moana!" every time she appears, even if it's in the Hall of Presidents.

Indeed. That's what I'd expect among the rank and file watching any show at Epcot. Yes, they'll be some park fans that will gripe about IP in an Epcot show, but most will be like "cool, they used Mulan music to highlight China" and feel it all fits.
The stuff in the lagoon out in daylight though, that's noticeable and not visually pleasing even to casual guests. I do wonder if they get enough negative response if they would revisit bringing the barges in and out every day. I know that would be tough and time consuming, but my impression is that they were designed for that to be possible even if it would be a tight squeeze.

Unfortunately, I don't think the casual guest will care enough to take 30 minutes or more out of their ($insert big number here) trip to raise issue at Guest Services about the look on the lake. I however, YES, but I am not casual guest. EPCOT is "my park". If I see trash on the ground, I gracefully bend down, pick it up, while saying "not in my park". Too bad I can't pick up those Five pieces of trash out on the lake.

Yes, but the novelty of that will fade away and lose its magic with this beeing so repetitive, since that kid will see Moana do the same things at HEA the day before and then again at EPCOT. I got to say, as a kid who grew up in Brazil, it was much more magical to see Christ the Redeemer and the Sugarloaf Mountain, along with many other cultures, than to see Jose Carioca.
When i was a kid, EPCOT used to be as magical, as Magic Kingdom, but a different kind of magic, one that used to stay with me even long after every trip, that's why i am so grateful to have seen at least the end of EPCOT, even if it wasn't at its prime.
