They’ve had land to use for the last 38 years and some change that didn’t require waiting for a maintenance and staging area to clear and they haven’t used it.

Yep, but they kind of had excuses before. Having no globe and the barges permanently anchored does give them more flexibility. Not that I'm expecting expansion anytime soon. But Epic Universe might provide some incentive. 🐌

Rust on both.

More like water stains.. look, the stains are all below the cutout holes in the beams. If it were surface rust, the rust would not just be 'running down the side' when the water doesn't stay there anymore than anywhere else on the surface.

Those are stains from the drains. Any rusting would be up above on the deck level with the stains coming from minerals in the drain water accumulating there on the sides.

Given the discolorization, this looks more like muck stains to me.

Painting underway on the first of EPCOT Harmonious show platform barges

Normally Disney would go to efforts to hide this kind of work, like, you know, behind scrims or something or after hours. The fact that nobody sees a point in that (it hasn't even been mentioned on here by anyone - even people who can be over the top) shows just how crappy this whole thing is.

Pressure washing and painting these ugly things out in the open during the middle of the day doesn't really make the view any worse than what was there after they moved them out so I guess there is no point in worrying about show at all anymore, right?

“The human species is always improving but never perfect, so we spent 8 years researching how to make sure our barges are mostly-clean but a bit rusty. I can’t wait to share more imperfections we are adding to Epcot in a 9-part Instagram series.”

Don't forget the special coming soon on Disney+!

“Safety; Courtesy; Diversity; Efficiency” No room to care about “show” anymore. That’s an antiquated ideal some dead guy wanted.

I really don't mind TikTok but when companies use it, it's painful. But then again 99% of companies really can't social media well at all. It always comes across ugly and overly pushy.
I don't either if people use it strictly for fun.

Someone actually said yesterday that they knew for a fact that people being pushy about wearing masks outnumber people losing their minds over being asked to mask up because of videos on Tic Tok. 🤦‍♀️

Bob Chapek: You know, I have one simple request. And that is to have sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads! Now, evidently, my imagineers inform me that that can't be done. Now, can you remind me what I pay you people for, honestly? Throw me a bone here! What do we have?
