Powder coated steel works great except for the spots that aren't coated, and the rainwater will find ALL of those. Half the time it's nuts/bolts that aren't stainless or titanium and corrode over time. That might explain the uniform distance and pattern.

Hmmmmm so in simple language the structure and what's holding it together are steadily dissolving and will eventually be consumed by the waters of the lagoon.

I can't say for sure what's rusting, but that's certainly in the realm of possibility with no maintenance. To be fair though, bridges are often made of steel and require maintenance to avoid similar situations.

There will be no shortage of water splashing around that thing though, plus rain and regular old humidity.

Instagramineer extraordinaire Zach Ridley has just posted that rust and faded paint are magically immersive experiences which bring transformative changes to individual journeys of self reflective growth….or some other nonsense crap for suckers on social media to suck up like dry sponges.
Not to mention that it’s more Disney, more family, more timeless, and more relevant.

Note, the rust is coming from drain holes. Paint all you want, it coming back. If you put a good coat of paint on the vertical surfaces, at least you can pressure wash it.
You really think Disney is going to pressure wash these things every few months????

They can't keep the Globe clean.
They can't keep the Monorail beam clean. That was embarrassing.
They can't keep the pyramid's of Imagination clean...

Yeah right...

So yeah, only half joking about the expansion pad.

Now that the nightly show will not be moved backstage nightly, there will be less need for using that area for maintenance or staging etc.

So then, much easier to use that land for a new country. If they choose to. Someday.

Or a more permanent event space so they can remove the "temporary" odd millennium celebration tent (it's 2021!) and expand the U.K. pavilion as it should be done ☔🎠🎶

They’ve had land to use for the last 38 years and some change that didn’t require waiting for a maintenance and staging area to clear and they haven’t used it.
