Not on topic but just responding.

Agreed......can't just come onto a forum and spout off. My immediate family will not be going back. I canceled Disney+ yesterday. I know......we are just a drop in the bucket.......they won't miss us. Probably true. But I do have to think that families like ours are not ones they would like to see go. We have been passholders for 7 years (minus the last 2 years), 4 Disney cruises, numerous hotel stays , not big merch buyers though. Trust me, my 2 brothers and their families are not happy at all nor my parents........all HUGE Disney supporters that spend just as much as I do. I suspect my parents and one brother may not cut the chord completely but will severely curtail their visits. My other brother who is the biggest fan of us all probably will not alter his future plans as Disney means so much to his 3 children. The point is is that it adds up.

I really do hope Disney wises up and becomes Switzerland in the culture wars. I really do want to take that Alaska cruise ;)

Control of the bureaucracy and less chance for stalls or detours. Complete control of who is in the room for the covered topics. Basically it is just a way to keep people out of your hair.

But I'm sure at least one time Disney has probably ran the numbers and said "eliminating RCID and switching to public services would reduce our OpEx and CapEx spend..."

I doubt RCID is the cheaper path for Disney in the near term - it's all about control and a great way to borrow money cheap for projects you can put in RCID's bucket instead of your own.
We don’t get to see project site plans for Disney projects the way we see them for Epic Universe. The water management drawings get published but we’ve already seen Disney start to adapt by using more general areas for permitting instead of specifics.
Guess they didn’t invite you to them…🤷🏻‍♂️
Then do please provide a link to the meeting minutes.

But the reality is, the global home of the theme park development industry is Orlando, with most all of the major players in ride systems, lighting, construction, show elements, and the list goes on, all based, or with major presence here. All of the vendors a company like Disney would work with are here.

That's a fair point. Similar to why even foreign automakers have research and development done in Michigan.

That makes sense. Next time I’m not sure what’s right or wrong I’ll call a “company like Disney” and ask them what to do.

The elimination of RCID ultimately would make Disney a large entertainment company that is just like all the other entertainment companies. No special privileges. Current management has been working diligently to bring down Disney to be an average money-grubbing organization, well congratulations not only getting to that low goal but probably exceed it.

Did you ever stop to think that maybe just maybe if a company like Disney would risk it’s reputation for something like this, that maybe you’re on the wrong side. Maybe you’ve been misinformed.
It’s almost like the millions of people who visit Disney every year are ok with the company’s position on treating all people equally and with respect

The gullible legislators far flung idea of eliminating Reedy Creek will only get them a guarantee, to not get reelected. Passing the tax burden to the locals will not sit well at all.

Exactly. And that is truly the companies position on this legislation. Nobody is against parents rights and nobody is supportive of inappropriate discussions with children. Legislation could be written if it was needed that accomplished those goals while still treating all people equally and with respect.

There it is! Not the company but a segment of the company with the bald talking head vocalizing it has shifted away from the "treat all people equally and with respect" to treat some people more equally than others. Let's see what impact this has on visitation to the parks and the real important statistic The Bottom Line.

@wdwmagic I have been a member here for almost twenty years. This was always a safe space for me. Until now. The amount of hate and ignorance from some members is getting out of control. This is not a matter of politics or agree to disagree. This is hate for a group/groups of people who want nothing more than to be normal. I would love to see the day when there is no special mention made of me because I am no longer special, I am normal. I’m really disappointed with what is happening here and I don’t want to have to leave, but it is getting to the point where I no longer feel welcomed here.

I really hate to reopen this can of worms but Florida just announced they will consider ”termination” of the Reedy Creek Improvement District at a special session this week.

EDIT: Updated the wording to be more accurate.

They're discussing eliminating all districts created prior to 1968, which includes public libraries, water management, fire management, etc
