While going through "security" the No Bag security guard said, "No camera bags, purses, or seaworld panchos."

It made a few, myself included laugh.

Hmm, i don't know if you are serious or if that was the worst case of sarcasm.. LoL.. No hard feelings... We all have our opinions and forsure are entitled to them... Makes no one right or wrong... That is what is so great about having forums like these.. We all can express our opinions.. Actually, I am planning on going to Universal next time I visit Orlando, just to see if I have been missing something there... because, honestly, I cannot see how anyone likes that park... Again, not a slap to anyone who works there or enjoys it.. I just cannot find anything there to enjoy... I must be missing something...

I think the "who goes to bed at 7?" a low blow. Disney parks, even in the off season never closes before 7....and even by chance they do, there's a TON more things to do! I hate universal for these commercials alone (not to mention the clientele that attends that park....makes it like my local Six Flags Great Adventure)

hey nothings wrong with great adventure. i would much rather go there than universal. great adventure has the same + better rides. i mean come on, nothing can beat the spongebob 3d show. lol but seriously, kingda ka and nitro are so much better than the hulk and dueling dragons. all universal has going for them is just two roller coasters and a few minor thrill rides. I like IOA it is a good park, however, the regualr universal studios is terrible. Still nothing can top disney. ppl get attracted because they got super heros' names added to them. Universal should point out the good things in their park instead of making up false things about the competitor, who has much much more attendance. Thats why i like sea world. they never attack either disney or universal. they advertise good things like kraken and atlantis. they dont ask if your tired of pixie dust or are you tired of big green ogres.

The interesting thing is that while most of us think that the commercials aren't very productive (myself included)...here we are talking about them....

The key there is we are sitting on the computer discussing the commercials.. Not getting in our cars or jumping on a plane to visit Universal Orlando... When we see a Disney commercial, it makes us want to visit the parks. When we see a Universal commercial, it makes us want to visit the bathroom... :hurl:

I was just looking at the link that was posted comparing Universal and Disney.. Let me add my opinions and thoughts:

Kids are free.. Gimmick by Universal to TRY to get people to the park.. truth is, KIDS SHOULD BE FREE since paying 60 somthing bucks to get into the park where they do, what, 3 things isn't worth the money... Ok, that right there starts the comparision off as a joke...

Free, unlimited park to park access?? Walking 5 feet over to IOA or vice versa? Dsney does not offer this?? Excuse me but what is a park hopper pass???

Free, all night access to clubs on City Walk.. OK this one I give to Universal... But, as I don't do clubs anyway, I truly don't care...

Free Express Ride Access... Again, does it matter?? Fastpass or free express ride access, same thing, different terms...

Free, non-expiring option... OK, don't know about DIsney having an option like this, but I understand Disney passes do not expire unless you buy an annual or length of stay... If you by a 7 day park hopper and onluy use 5, i understand the other 2 days do not expire.. I could be wrong.. If someone else knows please inform me... This one I will not give to anyone since I do not know if Disney's park hppers NON LENGTH OF STAY expire

Continuing:

Pet friendly rooms... OK MAKES ME WANT TO STAY AT UNIVERSAL BECAUSE I CAN BRING MY PET!!! YAH!!!!!!!!!!! Sarcasm there.. Not a perk I need, sorry Universal.. does not make you stand out...

TODAYS HOTTEST ENTERTAINMENT??? Are you joking Universal?? Come on... Spider-Man cartoons are not as popular as they once were, HOWEVER, the current movie franchise is a money maker... And the Spider-Man ride, granted, is the best ride between Disney and Universal.. THE HULK??? Movie stunk.. ruined a franchise... And the ride?? Yea it is a coaster... Let me see, what coasters are in Six FLags?? BAT MAN AND SUPER MAN!!!!! yea... same level of entertaoinment... NOT ONE OF TODAYS HOTTEST ENTERTAINMENT FRAMCHISES. Sorry Universal, struck out there... THE X-MEN.. Ok, great movies, don't know how popular the cartoon series is anymore... and, well, nothing really too exciting with the X-Men in the park.. JOKE, remove it.. FALSE ADVERTISING!!!! SHREK.. Hmmm, tough one... popular, YES... staying power? I don;t know.. Talk to me in 20 years to see if Shrek is still as popular... My guess, Nope... But, as for today?? Sure I'll give Universal ths one... JIMMY NEUTRON: Don;t hear kids talk about this one anymore... So, hot still?? NOPE.... FEAR FACTOR: Wasn't this cancelled never to return to TV??? Ratings dropped???? TODAYS HOTTEST ENTERTAINMENT?? Nope... THE MUMMY: Major disappointment of a ride, movie does not have staying power... Weakest link, GOOD BYE... So out of these, I say SHERK and SPIDER MAN are the only ones that can be considered TODAYS HOTTEST ENTERTAINMENT, maybe X-MEN too... Now, on to DISNEY'S YESTERDAYS CLASSICS... Key there, CLASSICS!!! Universal has nothing that will ever be considered a classic... SNOW WHITE: Staying power... still popular today, what 60-70 years later??? Hmmmmmmm Yesterday's classic??? NOPE... Strictly CLASSIC that will never die... PETER PAN: Umm, comfused... Didn't Universal actually do a movie on Peter Pan not to long ago??? if Peter Pan was so YESTERDAY, why did they make a movie?? Curious indeed... CINDERELLA: Classic that willl never die.. How many millions do the princess make for the Disney company?? YESTERDAY? Nope.. TODAYS HOTTEST ENTERTAINMENT.. TOY STORY.. had to think about this... I hear more boys talk about Woody and Buzz than Jimmy Neutron... Toy Story: TODAYS HOTTEST ENTERTAINMENT... Jimmy Neutron?? WASHED UP HASBEEN.. MONSTERS INC: Yea so yesterday... Came out in 2001... Shrek in 2001... Dreamworks rushes a sequal, PIXAR does not dilute their brands with rushed Sequals... Hmmm, Yesterdays classic? If Shrek is hot today, monsters inc is as well.. Universal, you failed here too...

Still more:

Thrilling Attractions: Hmmm, this one may be tough... Spider Man is the best ride, hands down.. That one I give them.. However, Shrek is a thrill attraction?? Ok, then MuppetVision 3D, Its Tough to Be A Bug, HISTA, and PhilharMagic are thrills as well.. Universal choked on that one since all four of Disney 3D movies are better.... Doctor Doom's Free Fall.. ahh, went on it, was OK... not as thrilling as say TOWER OF TERROR!!!! Disney wins that one.. MIB... Thrills??? I don't see it as a thrill ride... In that sense, Buzz shold be listed on the Disney side... it isn't... Same ride, different themes.. Sorry Universal, not a thriller.... TWISTER?? Someone in Unversal has a sense of humor because TWISTER is by far the worst attraction EVER!!!!!! Even worse than SGE and that is BAD!!!!!! Another choke by Universal.. Back to the Future.. I can say I did enjoy this and would for sure classify this as a thrill ride... Also, it hurts the neck because it tosses you around so violently... But, I will grant this one to Universal.. Never been on Jimmy Neutron. Is it a thrill ride?? Seriosuly??? Or another joke on Universal's part???

DISNEY'S SIDE: MS, TT, Soarin, TOT, Star Tours... Universal did their homework... No everest mention anywhere YET (I)... Disney wins hands down....

Roller Coasters: Let's not even go there... Disney's coasters are so much better... Theme is better, rides are better.... If I want unthemed steel coasters, I would drive down to our local Six Flags... Sorry Universal, you don't compare...

WATER RIDES: Jurassic Park - BORING.... Dudley Do-Rights reminds me a bit of SPlash Mountain, just get wetter... And Popeye, never been on it, so I won't comment... DISNEY'S: Hmm, Splash Mountain beats anythign universal lists on there side and Kali is good, you get wet, but it is short... Hmm, tough one to call here... but, because of SM, I give it to DISNEY!!!!

DINING AND ENTERTAINMENT: Hmm, never eaten at Universal.. so, I will not comment....

Well, after all that, Universal's comparison is one huge DIsney ad showing how Disney is so much better... Marketing isn't Universal's strong poit, obviously...

But, go enjoy U.S. is you want to... No one is saying you are right or wrong.. I just prefer Disney... :)

Here we go again :brick:

to get into the park where they do, what, 3 things isn't worth the money
How many damn times does anyone have to explain this to you? :brick:

Free, unlimited park to park access?? Walking 5 feet over to IOA or vice versa? Dsney does not offer this?? Excuse me but what is a park hopper pass???

There is no "free, unlimited park-to-park access" --- you have to buy a 2-park pass for that.

You have to pay EXTRA for that at WDW.

Pet friendly rooms... OK MAKES ME WANT TO STAY AT UNIVERSAL BECAUSE I CAN BRING MY PET!!! YAH!!!!!!!!!!! Sarcasm there.. Not a perk I need, sorry Universal.. does not make you stand out...
Sure, you may not need it, but it sure as hell is a help to those who do.

Come on... Spider-Man cartoons are not as popular as they once were, HOWEVER, the current movie franchise is a money maker...

Spider-Man is one of the biggest (if not THE biggest right now) superheros out there. The movies are HUGE and he's extremely popular with young boys (certainly more than a Disney character I'd say).

THE HULK??? Movie stunk.. ruined a franchise...
What the hell does the movie have to do with anything? Will people not ride the thing because the movie wasn't that well recieved? He's a freakin' MARVEL SUPERHERO and people know him through the comics --- the ride has nothing to do with the movie (and neither does the entire land for that matter).

Don't know what planet you're on, but any superhero is HUGE right now. Taken a look at box office, DVD, and merchandise figures lately?

Sorry Universal, struck out there... THE X-MEN.. Ok, great movies, don't know how popular the cartoon series is anymore... and, well, nothing really too exciting with the X-Men in the park.. JOKE, remove it.. FALSE ADVERTISING!!!!
So you want to talk about false advertising, eh? How about many of the things that were hyped up for M:S that never happened....

Don't tell me there's nothing exciting with the X-Men in the park either --- the big characters of the group are out in the park and there IS a ride themed around Storm.

SHREK.. Hmmm, tough one... popular, YES... staying power? I don;t know.. Talk to me in 20 years to see if Shrek is still as popular... My guess, Nope... But, as for today?? Sure I'll give Universal ths one...
Oh, it's only just a movie that has a $441m sequel, which is also the 3rd biggest film of all time domestically, and its main character is HUGE right now....

JIMMY NEUTRON: Don;t hear kids talk about this one anymore... So, hot still?? NOPE....
Sure, Jimmy Neutron may not be so popular anymore, but the ride includes Nicktoons like Spongebob Squarepants which is VERY popular.

FEAR FACTOR: Wasn't this cancelled never to return to TV??? Ratings dropped???? TODAYS HOTTEST ENTERTAINMENT?? Nope...
Again, I don't know what planet you're on, but it certainly still plays on television.

THE MUMMY: Major disappointment of a ride, movie does not have staying power... Weakest link, GOOD BYE...
#1. You have never even been on the ride.
#2. Both movies are still popular today and WILL be around for a while (a 3rd film is even in development stages).

SNOW WHITE: Staying power... still popular today, what 60-70 years later??? Hmmmmmmm Yesterday's classic??? NOPE... Strictly CLASSIC that will never die...
It sure is popular with young girls today.

PETER PAN: Umm, comfused... Didn't Universal actually do a movie on Peter Pan not to long ago??? if Peter Pan was so YESTERDAY, why did they make a movie?? Curious indeed...
Disney IS NOT the only person that holds the rights to anything and everything Peter Pan. The STORY is a classic.

CINDERELLA: Classic that willl never die.. How many millions do the princess make for the Disney company?? YESTERDAY? Nope..
Again, only with young girls.

TOY STORY.. had to think about this... I hear more boys talk about Woody and Buzz than Jimmy Neutron...
Possibly the only statement I can agree with.

- Time between Toy Story and Toy Story 2? 4 years.
- Time between Shrek and Shrek 2? 3 years.

Oh man, a HUGE difference....

Universal choked on that one since all four of Disney 3D movies are better....
To you.

Have you even seen Shrek 4-D? Your arguments are useless if you haven't even experienced have the stuff that is being talked about.

MIB... Thrills??? I don't see it as a thrill ride... In that sense, Buzz shold be listed on the Disney side
Um, MIB is considered as a "thrill" attraction because of the spinning part....pregnant women and people with heart/back problems are advised not to ride too, just as with any thrill attraction.

TWISTER?? Someone in Unversal has a sense of humor because TWISTER is by far the worst attraction EVER!!!!!! Even worse than SGE and that is BAD!!!!!!
Many, many, many, many people will most likely disagree with you on that one. It's not supposed to be some big thrill ride, it's a special effects show and works for what it is designed to be.

Back to the Future.. I can say I did enjoy this and would for sure classify this as a thrill ride... Also, it hurts the neck because it tosses you around so violently..
So no one gets hurt on Dinosaur?

Jimmy Neutron. Is it a thrill ride?? Seriosuly??? Or another joke on Universal's part???
If Star Tours is a thrill ride, Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast sure as hell is one too.

Let's not even go there... Disney's coasters are so much better... Theme is better, rides are better.... If I want unthemed steel coasters, I would drive down to our local Six Flags... Sorry Universal, you don't compare...
You're saying that Space Mountain is better than any Universal coaster?

Walking through the Dueling Dragons queue alone is more exciting than riding that to me.

Jurassic Park - BORING....
Could be boring to you, but it is an extremely well-themed attraction.

DINING AND ENTERTAINMENT: Hmm, never eaten at Universal.. so, I will not comment....
Mythos has been rated the #1 theme park restaurant in the world for a few years running now....also, I would say the counter service restaurants are lightyears better than WDW's offerings, as they've got better food and better deals (the All-You-Can-Eat Pass promotion is running very well and it's great for some people).

But, go enjoy U.S. is you want to... No one is saying you are right or wrong.. I just prefer Disney... :)
Ok, you keep going back and forth....first you say you can't even imagine why anyone would like the place, then you say you're going to go just to see if you're missing anything, then you tell us to go enjoy UO if we want to.... :brick:

If you hate the place so much, stay away --- just keeps another person out of the line for a ride I'm going to go on and enjoy.

Mickey doesn't have to sink to THEIR level.

I don't mind competition either. Otherwise, Disney would get lazy and cheap. I just mind how Universal advertises. I mean, "Them's fightin' words!"

Wow, that stinks.. Nemo, I had a huge post ready for you and I suddently got logged out and it didn't post AGH!!!! and I am not typing it out again..... Oh well... Anyway, to answer your last comment: Since a lot of you seem to like the park, why not go and see what I am missing?? Maybe I just don't get it... And one more thing, I did ride the mummy attraction and I did see Shrek.. and I came out yawning from both... So, sorry to disappoint you... See, cause when I post my opinions about soething, I only post things I have done.. That is why I didn't compare Disney's Pleasure Island with City Walk.. I don't do either.. If I don't do it, I don't comment on it.. Same thing with Everest.. Some of you like it, some don't.. I won't comment until I have been on it... And also, what is so special about the queue for DD??? I don't remember what the queue looked like... I only remember it being blue or purple maybe red, dont remember... with no designs.. Unless I missed something here too.. cause honestly, I don't tend to pay attention to the queues, even in Disney....

You guys are not their target market! It's funny reading through all those posts and seeing how many people seem to have taken those commercials personally. I don't watch these commercials and take them as a slight at Disney but rather as Universal setting itself up as an alternative to Disney. If you have kids who have no interest in seeing walk around characters then the best bet for those families is to go to Universal. Those commercials are not meant for anyone on here who would take them as an insult.

I laugh everytime I see the little girl saying "if I have to hug on more princess..." It's funny people, try having a little more sense of humor, it's just a commercial. You can laugh at something that pokes a little bit of fun at Disney and still go there.

I will NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER understand why people get so hurt and teary eyed over any jab at Disney. Sure, I love Disney's parks, and think they are a great company; but lets face it, both Disney and Universal are huge, greedy corperations. There is absolutely no sense in being so damn loyal to your made up image of Disney being something you have a stake it. Mickey has very thick skin by now and doesn't need you guys complaining and fighting for him because Universal has an ad with a preteen girl making fun of hugging princes. Oh the humanity!!!

I agree that a commercial is a commercial... The OP was really just asking if Disney would take a swipe at Universal since Universal took a swipe at them.. I don't see these commercials as Universal targeting their group of fans.. I see them as Universal taking what Disney offers and making it appear no kids like it and that they think walk around characters are childish... That's the way they want to market their park, then so be it.. But do they realize they too have a princess (FIONA), fairy tales (SHREK) and walk around characters (Flintstones, Spongebob, Scooby Doo).. And I am sure it is just a matter of time before Universal tries something with a princess line since it makes a ton of money for Disney...

Look, it is what it is... Universal taking a swipe at the competition that kicks their butt... It isn't going to draw 10 million more people to the park.. And be honest, how many people do you talk to that say I AM GOING TO UNIVERSAL FOR VACATION, MAYBE I'LL DO DISNEY... Chances are they are either going to Disney and not UNiversal or both... face it, Disney draws the people to Orlando.. Put Universal in any other city and sorry to say, it is shut down by now.. it is only still floating because of Disney... Not the other way around... So, let Universal put out all these commercials about pixie dust not being your thing... In the end Disney still beats Universal
