Ratatouille in Epcot

I would say this guy: Georges Melies, his films were used in the beginning of horizons and I would love to see him back in the park. He was a pioneer of the silent film industry and was a real revolutionary, not to mention French.

I was thinking Jules Verne would be a good host for a ride/show since he's fairly familiar to the American audience at Epcot, and then use him to introduce other aspects of French history and culture. Georges Melies, would certainly be someone to include, maybe or ever have Jules Verne and Georges Melies act as co-hosts like Ben Franklin and Mark Twain in the American Adventure... could even do something similar with say Leonardo Di Vinci as host of the Italian Pavilion...

My point though is by simply doing a Google search you can come up with a more appropriate and equally compelling attractions for World Showcase, and even though I have a really hard time believing they would ever spend the money putting a big E-ticket ride like Ratatouille into World Showcase, some C or D ticket attractions wouldn't be a bad idea

Despite everyone wanting Italy to Roman ruins, I would love a Di Vinci attraction more, in my opinion it has more develop-ability than a ruins would. When you think about it each pavilion could have a nice C or D ticket with maybe one or two E tickets (In WS as a whole). I guess our only hope for things to improve lies in the bosom of a great big beautiful tomorrow.

In Itally I would love a "Roman Gladiators" type thrill-ish ride! (Confession time: OK i got the idea inspired from an episdode of TAR)

In France a Jules Verne thing would be cool, but when people think of France, never the less a France in Disney, I don't really think that Jules Verne comes to mind, at least not before Ratatouille

A lot of the original 1970's Tomorrowland attractions ended up being jumping off points for the 1980's EPCOT Center Future World attractions, but I think something like "If You Had Wings" which later became "Dream Flight" would also be good prototypes for World Showcase rides. It was a c/d ticket, with a size and scale and would fit well around the existing WS pavilions, and the basic omnimover/dark ride set up would be great way to give an overview of the country's history/culture, while still being reminiscent of the original EPCOT Center's intent... and then of course stick some thrill rides in. I always thought something like Rockin' Rollercoaster, themed to modern day Tokyo would be happy medium between the never built Mt. Fuji Coaster and Bullet Train rides

yeah but Im afraid the next one is going to be far worse, cough Rasulo cough.

Regardless though, I have this funny feeling, that given the amount money it would take to build and maintain the Ratatouille ride, someone... (most likely the accounting department) will realize there's no upside to sticking a really expensive ride, that primarily appeals to children, in the middle of World Showcase

I think the point is to stick a significant drawing ride that appeals to children/whole family in the middle of the World Showcase. Based on what HTF said, the thought is to get more people into WS earlier in the day (and more distributed around the WS) to increase the food/drink/merch spending. Adding something more family friendly might encourage more different guests to venture to that part of the WS (instead of going just to Mexico/Norway and not walking around the lake).

France is basically directly across the water from Mexico/Norway so it would basically "force" people to walk around at least half, if not all, of the WS to ride all the rides.

Out of sheer boredom I created a concept of how you could retain the Impressions film and add to the pavilion with the Ratatouille attraction. This is done roughly at scale and would fit within the existing pavilion boundaries. I've highlighted in green the existing area used for Impressions, red is areas added to the pavilion for Rat and new entry/exit theater vestibules. WDI could create a theater roughly 50% the size of the existing space, and utilize the rest of the existing building for Ratatouille entry/exit space. To me this would be the best solution, as it pacifies most parties who care about Epcot (the purists and the business interest). The biggest drawback being that it eliminates a shop from the pavilion. However there's still room around the side to expand with additional retail. In fact there nothing to say that the downsized theater couldn't exit into a new retail space.
And just for clarification, in the image below, yellow is the area Rat would take up and brown is the area Impressions would take.

Thankfully Bob Iger's days are numbered
Yeah, then God knows how many years of someone whose worse. Is it selfish that I want Lasseter to become CEO?

Adding the Japanese ride and finishing the River cruise would get them to back the full loop.

Looking at the site another possible design could be this one:

I'm pretty sure that Impressions de France takes up about 75% of that big square building with the rest of it necessary for waiting areas and crowd movement. They could possibly have an entrance through the market area (now the expanded bakery) but that might cause a bottleneck of traffic. Someone suggested an entrance off a promenade along the canal which could work and give them the opportunity to theme that wall of the pavilion better.

Another solution would be to have guests watch Impressions de France in mouse-shaped cars and at the end of the film they all break-off and scurry about the kitchen a bit. ;)
