Ratatouille in Epcot

If you guys think Dr Who is a great example of British ways, culture and life then god help us.

Its a single tv show on a single tv network. Laughed at through the 70s and 80s until a higher budget resurrection in 2005 brought it to a new audience.

Kind of like having Knight Rider instead of the American Adventure (and I loved Knight Rider)
Maybe a ride based on EastEnders instead?

Also, where did you find the picture of the model?

Excellent discussion and pics of early WS concepts here... TO THE SHOWCASE >>>

Edit: I'm happy that Harper Goff got a hold of the WS concept and really made it come to life. One interesting thing to note is how similar Communicore became to the World Showcase buildings.

Now it has a massive fan base in the states and globally.

Awesome site!
What part of "No, Doctor Who doesn't fit nor belong in Epcot no matter what rabid fanbois say" isn't clear?
I have said it does not, my post was just an example of what could be done. Jeesh...

Ok.
I wasn't gonna put this out there, but what the hell...

Two pieces of concept art. One for the Rat ride, the other for an as yet un-built country.
Which one does Epcot need more?
Which one better fits with the mission and purpose of Epcot?

How you answer that will determine whether or not you "get" Epcot.

I also have a feeling opinions may be skewed a bit by age....

(Enjoy the photo. Good chance I'll get told to pull it.)

Brazil, no brainer. That's what WS is all about, educating us on diverse cultures.

Once again, if you look back I have never said that it should go in Epcot, I have argued against it.

Not saying that these should become attractions in themselves but introducing bits of popular culture in the different countries as a "latest trends" could spice things up in WS. Then we could regard Italians drinking Beverly and think "??". Even though we are all spoiled by the internet there's a language barrier to discovering what current world cultures are into.

I would not be surprised to see Christ the Redeemer appear in a fly over in Soarin', It's a pre-requisite of any travel video to Brazil that it be included in the first 30 seconds.

Having said that, I would absolutely not be surprised if Disney would be hesitent to put this in the park for fear of it becoming a target for protests or worse. There is no reason for them to fan the flames.

Not really. WS' (and especially EPCOT's) motive was to educate as it entertains. There's nothing educational about a mouse running around a kitchen. That isn't an opinion. It's fact.

If this were going in DHS, fine. But I'd still argue that there are 100 better things they could use the money for.

I get it...I don't care. Built it...don't build it. They haven't built a new ride since the 1980's in world showcase.
The did enhance the educational garbage ride in Mexico in 2007. Quite possible one of the worst rides ever...in the top 25 of all time. It's educational though.
So you got that going for you.

Dr. Who ride? No thanks.

Sherlock.
Agree!,
Maybe some attraction like a "mystery" mansion a la "clue" , with inspiration in Agatha Christie's poirot and/or exclusively to Sherlock Holmes.

You will all probably think I'm nuts but I want Ellen's Energy Adventure to be changed into a "Green Energy" Pavillion with a WALLE ride...
I'm all ok with this, but dont most of the pavilions in Epcot have to have an sponsor?

Problem is; most modern babyboomer and kids do not give a damn about education... thus even if you make a fun educational ride, it might end doing badly.
Most of them seem more busy with Queen Elsa and "fads"(like online memes) for quick "fun".
I swear the movie idiocracy still rings in my brain.

Sadly, I have to agree that Disney would probably never display this statue in any form. One of the unwritten rules of political correctness is that Christianity is the only major religion that seems to "Offend" people.

It's a moot point anyway since this pavilion will probably never be built.

That's what I have suggested.

Most people wouldn't care but there's always a tiny fraction of a percentage that gets bent out of shape about things like this and they're the ones who tend to make the headlines. Personally, I would love to see Brazil added to WS and since the Christ the Redeemer statue is a major symbol of the country, it should be part of the pavilion............. IF the pavilion gets built.

Yeah, I like some of the Who eps, but nuts to its inclusion in Epcot's Britain. I say Beatles all the way!
