I know several of us have races upcoming. I figured it would be nice to have a place to state your goals and then see how everything went.

I have the Callaway Gardens Half this Sunday. My realistic goal is 2:36 with a stretch goal of 2:30

My next race is the Princess.

My goal is to run the whole thing and still be able to walk the next day, 2:15 would be nice.

NJ Ultra 100 mile in March. It has a 30 hour time limit, but they award speedster buckles to pre- midnight the same day and sub 24 hours besides the regular finisher buckle. I would love to come in sub 24 hours.

Missed both goals :( 2:40.28

Felt good (borderline great) for the first 10 miles and on pace to get the stretch goal. Unfortunately, I ran into some leg issues during mile 11 and pretty much walked the remainder of the run.

My next run is the Princess Half. My goal is to have fun!

After that I have a Shamrock 5K. My goal there is to hit my PR 21 minutes, or under.

Did 27:09 on the 5K, so I am very pleased. We will see on the half.

Well you were close. Hope the leg issues clear up, and I am sure you will get it next time!

Mine have changed with recent injury. The Mercedes Full is now a Half that ill just run to get back in the swing of things on February 13th. Then it is serious time,

Talladega Half April 3rd: I ran it in 1:40:32 last year. I hope to make a new PR there.
Nashville is a Half but Im changing that to a Full on April 30th. I have some unfinished business to take care of.

My next big race will probably be the Capital City Half-Marathon in Columbus. I'm shooting to cut 8 more minutes off my previous fastest half marathon time.

My goal is to find a race that does not get cancelled / postponed because of conditions.

Hangover run Jan 1, 2011 becomes Jan 30, 2011, becomes Feb 27, 2011

Thats a long hangover.

I do have a race on the weekend before Valentines day.

On a less happy note, I am beginning to think that the pain I had in my forefoot after the WDW Marathon, that hurt for 3-4 days, faded, came back with Tae Kwon Do, went away, and now is back after running on Saturday is indeed a stress fracture. That would totaly but a damper on things.

That's a bummer Dave. You might want to get that checked out. If it's not a stress fracture then what might just require a short respite to heal could become something that requires a much longer respite if you don't tend to it. Hope you feel better soon.

Running the Rock n Roll Mardi Gras Marathon on Feb 13. I have run two Disney marathons and both times I competed in the half marathon on the day before.

With no 13 mile run the day before and no Disney characters to take photos with, my goal is to set a personal record with a finish less slow than 5 hours, 18 minutes and 35 seconds.

If I finish ahead of that, I will be most happy. :D

Still a great effort. What did you think about the Calloway? Maybe I'll do that next year instead of the Robins AFB.

Good luck, although I am sorry to hear about your plans getting derailed. I am thinking about Talladega as well. I have gotten way off track between an ankle issue and the flu/respiratory infection that has laid me out for the past two weeks. Consequently, I gave up on running in the Mercedes.

The good news is that the flu/respiratory infection forced me to rest the ankle. Maybe I can get back on track in the next few days.

Good luck to you too. At least you got them at the same time. that is kind of convenient. I am still skeptical that Ill be 100% by next weekend. I just hope that I can run without this thing flaring back up. So frustrating.

If I hadnt already registered for Talladega and Nashville, it wouldnt be a big deal, but that is $150 of my money.

I don't have much to compare Callaway to since I've only run at Disney. It's a very scenic run from a nature point of view. There isn't a whole lot of structure to divert the eyes. So, it can be tough mentally. The other mental battle is the number of runners. There were only a few hundred runners total, half and full. You may be running alone at certain times towards the end. From a physical perspective, it is fairly flat. Your local neighborhood runs are probably more challenging

Take a little time to get back into the groove. If you rush, you risk the possibility of relapse or injury.

Good luck to both of ya
