Provisional dates for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey's Very Merry

We went to MNSSHP party last year and had a good time. They are letting too many people in to these parties, though. The wait times aren't what they should be.

You are right about that. The last few years they have bumped up the cap on attendance to the parties. I went to the Christmas party in 2006 and there was too many people there but we went on a different night last year and it wasn't as crowded and was alot more enjoyable.

This depresses me on two levels: A) They've moved MNSSHP into early September, but we leave on August 31st this year so we'll be gone when they start, and B) They already blocked off corresponding park hours, which means that since they haven't done so in August, there likely won't be P&PP while we're there either. :(

Oh well, I guess we'll just have to enjoy ourselves immensely like we always do!

Exactly. We went went to MVMCP a few years back and it was great. By comparison, MNSSHP was really packed which limited us quite a bit. I felt like the crowd was almost as large as it was during normal hours.

Has anyone been to MNSSHP on Halloween? Should we avoid it? Or are most of the parties that week sold out making the crowds the same?

Can anyone give me an idea of when the MVMCP dates are usually confirmed/made official - we are only there for the first two dates so suspect we'll need to book prett quickly!

Depends on when the dates are. HP usually sells out the weekend before and final date(s) leading up to Halloween.

CP likewise is heavy the last week and usually a little more on weekends, but most don't sell out.

Provisional dates for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

I called Disney to find out if these dates were even close and the CM actually laughed a little and said that "No, the dates you have seen are NOT from us. They may be correct or not but the people that make the decision on those dates haven't even made the final decision yet.". She said that the dates seen on ANY other site OTHER than Disney should be taken as "hopeful dates" and not set in stone.

So please folks, don't make the mistake we made on our first trip to WDW during the MNSSHP. Don't plan your trip start dates according to dates provided by sites other than Disney.com.

There is another site out there that is posting "Actual" dates for the MNSSHP and MVMCP each year about 4 months before Disney even decides to think about coming up with them. Thankfully this year they have added a disclaimer that says "Unofficial Dates" at the top of the dates posted.

I dont want to sound like a (blank) here but Disney sites should take a little bit of responsibility and stop trying to "one up" each other. Some people see these "set dates" from some sites, then plan out their PSings, then after they have done so they find out that the dates they got were wrong. Then when they try to change the PSings they are told that there is nothing available for the day and time they want. All because of dates getting posted before being confirmed by Disney.

This thread started out saying "Provisional dates for ..." and has become people saying that the dates are confirmed.:eek:

You'll notice on the update on http://www.wdwmagic.com/magic.htm (dated 3 March 2008) I used the phrase "These dates are provisional and are not yet officially confirmed, so as always, are subject to change."

I always am responsible about posting news of unconfirmed items.

Oh and the dates I posted are much more than hopeful dates, but as I said, they are provisional and you shouldnt plan you trip around them until confirmed by Disney. :)

You are right about provisional dates, but this isn't rocket science. The parties (P&P, MVMCP & MNSSHP) are typically held on Sunday, Tuesday Thursday & Friday nights. We also know when the begining and end dates of last years parties. Take this info and move it one year ahead and presto! You get the new schedule. Granted the one thing that may change is the addition or removal of some dates, but the trend has been to increase the # of parties.

You should be thankful that these websites like WDWMagic try to help out those who do not know. A piece of advice when talking with a CM is to take the info with a grain or maybe a pound of salt. Poeple on these websites typically know what and when things are going to happen before the CM's do. :animwink:

Thank you for keeping us informed Steve!
