When there was still admission, they had to have an adult to get on the island at all after a certain time (?7PM) and I thought that even then they had to be over 18 - but I might be mistaken. The first time I ever went (2002) there was still an admission charge just to enter the area, and my daughter was finally old enough to go with me - but I might have been able to bring her when she was younger, but didn't realize it. But I probably wouldn't have, and only brought my son when he was under the age of 18 because my daughter and her bf wanted to see the AC, and I knew that he would "get" the humor (thanks to having an older, college aged sister) and the booths had been removed by then.

I know I've been to PI when i was around 5 or 6 :lookaroun and been to adventurers club... We have ticket stubs for us from back then in a scrap book for my sister and I (children admissions) I know i was there for the midnight celebration too. Just cannot remember what year this was though. I turned 18 in 2004...

So taking a wrecking ball to a person's home is the same as taking a wrecking ball to any WDW building:shrug: First off there is no comparison. A nightclub, bar, restaurant or even an attraction may look to be permanent but as logical adults we know that anything can be demolished or closed at any time without notice.

The AC's time was up. Just like Toad, Horizons, and the non PC version of POTC. None of us has to like the changes and I bet money many here do not. But the show goes on.

I would have liked to have seen AC, but I never did. I have no ill will against those that saw it. But, I did other things and never got to AC. Life goes on.

One question...do you like work for Disney? I am pretty sure they don't need you to help them with their "spin" on all decisions that are unpopular....

Here, here Menamechris! It is interesting to see the two groups that have formed for the "Those who never went to the Club". 1. is the "Never been and wish for Disney to reopen it" group and 2. is the "Never been, don't care, get over it" group. Well, to group 2 I say, you can not begin to imagine what you missed. The Adventurers Club was much more than a nightclub or a bar or an attraction, and for those of us who went regularly, it was a second home and was truely a place where everybody knew your name. The Club drew you into the story unlike any show or attraction that Disney, or any company has ever come up with, and everything inside the building worked together to make this happen, from the artifacts on the wall, to the themed seats, all the way to the most important element, the actors. Whether it was your first night in the Club, or you came every night, these amazing people welcomed you as old friends, and if you were very luck, over time they were! So many magical moment occured withing those hallowed rooms, proposals, weddings, reunions, anniversaries, birthdays, etc. that there is little wonder how we came to love the Club and refuse to let it go. And for those who still doubt how special this place we are still trying to save is, if you the mass attendance of closing night doesn't convince you:

While I loved the Adventurers Club, the bolded is actually one of the things I found most off-putting about the Club: the regulars you who showed up (seemingly) every night, annoyingly reciting lines from the show before the performers delivered them (not singling anyone here out, as I have no clue whether some of you were "those guys"). Often, when we were there the performers mocked these individuals, but those guests still didn't seem to "get it."

It was an awesome and special place, but it was a place for entertaining nightlife, not a nightly meeting-place for the NFFC, and I think some people failed to realize that.

Yeah, I remember one of the performers thinking it was strange people would go in there night after night..... She decided the reason for it was that some people have really depressing lives, and she was glad that the club could give them an escape.

I feel that kind of backs up what Figment is saying, but is rather judgemental.

The cast member's thought process is similar to what Gracey is saying.... It gave people a second home where they could interact with other people in need of a second home...

The 7 day annual pass definitely hurt the club experience as most of the time I went there everyone knew everything that was going on...... Perhaps if they made the passes good from only Sunday to Wed the club would have had a better dynamic for first time visitors, while providing a second home Sun-Wed.

I went 3 times, all at different times of the year and truly didn't get what the big deal was about. I enjoyed myself every time and the Kungaloosh is a pretty good drink; made them at home a couple of times even. The performers and performances were good but the AC geeks just made the place intolerable for me. I can't stand when people sing "Wishes" loudly or quote the Ghost Host in the stretching rooms and the AC was full of that type of behavior and it truly turned me off. If it does reopen, I'll be happy for the people that loved it but I'll still take Jellyrolls 10 times out of 10.

All I can say is that I have wonderful memories from AC and I had dreamed of one day sharing the Adventurer's club with my boyfriend. I can never do that now, youtube videos and pictures can never show the club how it was when you were there. The closing of the Adventurer's Club was the last straw for me and that is one of the biggest reasons why I now go to DLR instead of WDW. There is hardly anything left at WDW that I wish to see, hardly anything left that I truly care for. Its become nothing more than a tourist machine at this point and I'm done. So my point is AC was a second home to me, not because of a bad life or being crazy but because it was something truly special, something that could probably never truly be recreated. And unfortunately you'll never be able to understand that and I pity you.

I totally agree! I am in the shot of the club on closing night...unfortunately out of shot but on closing night I was the third person through the door! I believe myself and my then-husband Glen from the UK and a couple from the Netherlands were the furthest travelled for final night.

But no, not at all AC fans were nutjobs (and yes some were quite annoying), for me it was a truely unique entertainment venue and that is why every night of my trip was spent there as there was nowhere like it on the planet. I have amazing memories of the AC; I got proposed to there, spent some of my honeymoon there, made lifelong friends there and attending the only wedding ceremony that was held there of two dear friends, one of whom is no longer with us. I didnt bug the performers, but rather enjoyed the show and laughed so much went it all went off script and mayhem ensued. So please to all of you naysayers out there, do not "bash" the AC if you never went there and even if you did and you "didn't get it" just leave us be.

I think the 7-day-a-week admission for CMs is what really caused the problem, especially when they closed the other clubs to CPs age 18 - 20 (which, coincidentally, lines up with most of the time you were a Club regular, sorry to break key-fabe). Before that the "Rocky Horrorization" and most of the in-jokes were limited to Thursday nights. It became the de facto hang-out for drama club kids raised on Disney musicals. Which is also when the meme that AC fans don't buy drinks got started--most were too young, and all were too poor, to drink there.

I hope this just means they are going to re-do the building and that the AC will eventually end up back there.

Then again, sending it to AK wouldn't be a bad idea either.

I sent a letter to the company just to see what they have to say about it.

They could open a "Pandora Adventurer's Club" there, and then nobody would care if the performers got "a little blue"........sorry...couldn't resist......

Ouch!

To the Pun-alty Box with you!

No, I really hope they don't make a new AC themed after Avatar...that would crush me. I want the 1930's Adventures back, and AK is the PERFECT spot! Kilimanjaro safaris is right there! They could be right in Africa!

Yeah, but AK closes waaaaaay too early to host the AC.
