Property Control

For so long, I have dreamed of going into property control and spending hundreds of dollars on discounted wdw merchandise. I, however, am not a cast member. This summer, one of my friends will be doing the CP...are CMs or CPs allowed to bring "guests" into Property Control? Do they check ID at the door, or just when making purchases (so feasibly, I could go in, give everything I wanted to him, and he could pay?). Or will I just have to settle with him getting me gifts from this wonderful place?

Yes, you can bring in as many guests as are allowed on your main gate. They will check ID at the entrance area. I took my grandparents there and they had a blast. It's the best place to do Christmas shopping. :)

'Property Control' consists of two buildings: Cast Connection, where they offer merchandise no longer being sold on property (usually) at a discount. CM's may bring in guests up to the number of guests on their Main Gate (usually three or more). All items are priced as marked, but CM's with valid ID can save another 10%.

The other building is the 'Trailer', which is filled with damaged merchandise and lost and found, and also will have old t-shirts or other items for a deep discount. You can find merch here that is current, but has been damaged, stained, or otherwise made unsellable. Most clothing and hats have stains on them that can usually be laundered out easily. There are figurines and snowglobes with varying levels of damage, but some can be fixed. I got an $85 Sorcerer Mickey snowglobe there for $20. The Mickey had been broken off the base, but I was able to glue him back on and there is only minimal damage at the back, and also there was a quill pen in a small inkpot on the base; the quill is missing, but you can't tell. I also got a sweet NBC snowglobe that has the tiniest, ittiest piece chipped off at the bottom in the back of the piece. $17. The trailer merch is discounted 75% but ONLY CM are allowed to shop in there. IF no one is checking ID at the gate, you COULD accompany your friend in there, but you cannot purchase anything without cast ID.

You will need to present a company ID at check out, as well. Though the holder does not have to pay.

Edit: oops, was referring to Cast Connection, not the trailer.

Are these actually makeshift type buildings? I always get the impression that they're just, well, trailers, but I've never actually seen pictures. I can't imagine some makeshift building on Disney property, but who knows...anyone have pictures of the exteriors (I know it's an odd request, not like it's the hallmark of a photo album)?

Cast Connection is a large warehouse-type building, not very extravagant by any means. Damages is just a small trailer.

I need a CM friend! I used to be Disney Store CM and I love the July sale! So sad we can not go to property control any more! I would load up!

I never seem to notice any clearance items at any Disney shop.Do they pull any items before it goes clearance to sell at outlet stores to keep up with "good show" since clearance racks always look tacky in a store?

Is this the same as "Company D"
Nope, Company D's are very small Cast-only shops backstage in each of the theme parks. They are the only places where you can purchase cast-exclusive pins and other cast-exclusive merchandise (clothing, lanyards, license plate frames, lithographs, etc.). They also usually carry a small selection of gift shop-type merchandise (cards, candles, ornaments). Like the damages trailer, you must be a CM to shop there.

Cast Connection is a great place to do Christmas shopping (plus the liquidation sale). It usually has some of the same merchandise as the outlet stores, but it also has a bunch not seen at the outlets. They also occasionally have old furnature that Mousesurplus didn't want (mostly backstage office furnature). There are also a bunch of old posters, banners, props and signs up on the walls (sadly, not for sale).

Just the other day I went to Cast Connection/Property Control/The Trailer. Shopping in the trailer requires the same talent and patience that it takes to go to a rummage sale and pick out the gems. Every time I have been in Cast Connection, you could not access the property control stuff. This time was no exception. I walked into the area and was immediately asked to leave. I did however think of you all when I noticed that in Property Control, the round signs that went on lamp posts for the Happiest Celebration on Earth were for sale at about $20 each.

As for the person who said he/she couldn't imagine makeshift building on Disney property...:ROFLOL: :ROFLOL: :ROFLOL:
A good deal of the buildings on the property (off stage) are prefab manafactured aluminum buildings...double wides.

Now you say Cast only. but My father has taken my mother and my brother and sister and myself into the Company D. I remember it very well. I was so happy to see the "special" stuff that wasn't available for everyone.

Hmmm, perhaps the one at Disney University? All the others that I know of are past security checkpoints. I never did find out whether DU was a restricted backstage area or not (I assumed Cast and pre-CM's taking Traditions were only allowed in DU). Come to think of it, I've never been to the Maingate one either, so I'm not sure about their security policy. Sorry! You do have to present a Cast ID to purchase anything, though.

Lately, the ID checks at the entrance have been hit or miss, mostly miss. Out of the times I've been in the last year, we've only been checked once.
