I'm so lost in all of this. There is so much happening in this thread. Just so I know, is Project X the mine coaster idea or something else? Cause I've heard both mentioned and its so confusing to me.

No, no, no, no, no.

Project X, as we will learn tomorrow, is Disney's decision to finally construct Beastly Kindomme in modular pieces that will be assembled over a period of two weeks beginning tomorrow. It will then be airlifted, fully assembled, to the current location of Camp Minnie-Mickie, which will be no more.

How sad is it that the depths of my Disney madness compels me to check this forum every hour until the actual announcement is made, just to watch people go at it in this thread?

In the absence of actual info, it'll have to do . . . . :ROFLOL:

i don't care about the going at it...but we all know who stirs the pot when their is some sort of announcement. i look forward to the announcement to move on from all this crap.

I just want to apologize for partially derailling this thread into the while LotR's thing and what. I truly wasnt trying to do that, I was trying to make the point that we should be excited about what is coming and not disappointed by things that aren't an "answer" to other attractions. My point got wayyyy misunderstood and overblown.

I'll share the derailment responsibility. Though, I'm not sure there's much valid discussion to be had, considering nobody seems to know anything besides Raven and Lee. Wild speculation and nonsense-mongering is all anyone can do until tomorrow.

Yup..and even tomorrow we will only know what we know tomorrow. If tomorrow isn't everything we all want to hear, it doesnt mean there isnt another day..time...place for other announcements.

Some custodians are using the liners as bags, which are very thin and break with ease. But they still have some white bags which are still thinner than the actual black ones, which I think most of them use. But my department uses the heavy duty ones.

There is no need to be racist.

a word to the wise...

I would just like to remind everyone the last time we had a press event, we got the “Magical Memories” campaign. I’m excited to see the new art work, I’m just not going to get my expectations to high, it seems like every time I do that with Disney, I get let down.

Ditto, though no non-disney franchise ride would be announced tomorrow. All we can do is just speculate on what could fit in and might work to bring in more guests.

Does anyone know if this press event is going to be streamed live somewhere? cuz that would be pretty awesome!

Haven't heard anything yet, but watch the Disney Parks blog tomorrow. If there isn't a stream there will probably be coverage of some sort tomorrow night or Wednesday morning.

"Changes at the margins" is a direct quote of Tom Staggs.

Here are some more direct quotes from Tom Staggs and additional exerpts of what he said from the same article you have cited:

“We took a hard look at it amongst a number of us and said, ‘Can we make the appeal broader? Can we make it even better?’

Staggs said much of what was included in the original plans will be incorporated into the final product and that the changes are “improving it on the margin.” He characterized the revisions as part of any creative project’s natural evolution. As an example, Disney cited Hong Kong Disneyland, where early blueprints included an area dubbed “Glacier Peak” that was eventually replaced with a section themed around the company’s Toy Story film franchise

“One of the things that I thought the early design did fantastically was delivered on that princess experience. And that does tend to skew towards girls. … We’ve kept that intact — not exactly, necessarily, the way it was presented, but that appeal is there,” Staggs said. “I think we’ve added some things that aren’t just princess-focused, and that’s a good positive.”

Staggs said planners are also reviewing the Fantasyland expansion with an eye toward blending “aspirational rides” — rides that offer thrills or tension — with attractions designed for guests of all ages. And he said they want to ensure that the additions are flexible and can be updated or adapted over time.

Staggs said the project’s price tag will “not materially” change with the revisions, though a slight increase is likely because of certain additions. He would not provide specific figures

So while you chose to cling to one phrase from the article and use it out of context, the rest of us choose utilize information from the entire article to draw our conclusions. The conclusion which can be drawn from these quotes are as follows, with a few questions:

-Something will be added to the original design which makes it better and broadens the appeal.

-As a part of the revision, a ride will be built that provides family friendly thrills.

-If assuming the "on the margin" additions are not referring to any attraction (although the article directly disproves this notion anyway), then what can be added that is not princess focused and will broaden the appeal significantly enough to warrant a revision and consider the revision to broaden anything? Also, when speaking of the aforementioned revisions "on the margin", an example was given of an entire land being changed for the Hong Kong expansion.

-If the fantasyland expansion at least includes a BatB counter service and elaborate sit down restaurant, the little mermaid ride, circusland with dumbo, and maybe one of the previously mentioned meet and greets, then could one additional attraction be considered "on the margin" relative to the rest of the area?

-Whatever is being added may cost a little more than what is being removed (rumored to be some meet and greets and pixie hollow, which would have to make it relatively big).

-At least one thing that was added still involves a princess but does not nessisarily focus on said princess :animwink:

It also seems that there may be a little more than what we are currently expecting since multiple changes are referenced.

Obviously you fail to grasp the anger at TDO that is simmering out there. That is where you will find all the tin foil. IE "purposely skewing guest surveys" :lookaroun

THREAD DRIFT:
I got caught at a resort yesterday for a survey, and was surprised to see questions that plainly asked whether the food and merchandise were too expensive. Needless to say, I said yes. Plus, one question asked if the resort needed more merch variety. It was like a fanboy's dream come true.

I could not believe how disappointed I was with the merch my last visit. The previous visit lots of things that appealed to me that I had to choose from. My most recent visit I felt like I was settling so I didn't go home empty handed. I found not only the appeal to be lacking but the quality seemed greatly deminished. The pins are nice, but I would like to see more. And not nearly enough attraction centered merchandise. If people go to Disney for the attractions, you would think that Disney would understand people want to take a piece of the attractions home with them (in the form of themed mercahndise of course).

I don't know how much broad appeal this will have, it is princessland, which isn't a bad thing but there needs to be an expansion that swings back.

When a double cheese burger with fries and a drink qsr meal costs more than a quad stacker combo at the travel plaza on the ac expressway, yeh prcies might be slightly too high.

As for merch, it seems like every time they roll out new dated merch, it is the same logo with just a number change.

Supercalifragilistexpialidocious.

I hope they address the future of other parks too. WDW news has been very slow lately, and this press conference should just do the trick.
