James...I'm sorry you see it from that prespective!! Have a more open mind and you will see that everyone that you consider to be in this click are very kind and caring people. Give yourself time to get to know them. I see it more as a family and not a click. Sure we tease and joke around with each other, but that is part of the fun. But if you ever need someone's advice or a shoulder to lean on they are always there!! I am not on the Boards as often as most of the Premium Members, but I always feel confident that they will be there when I do have the chance to visit. There is something about going on this site and seeing the same names that makes it so welcoming.

And Mighty...I'm sorry he ruffled your feathers... that was my first instinct as well. I initially felt insulted, but then realized that he really doesn't know us very well. But James the only site you can't access without being a Contributor is the Premium Members Lounge and mostly all we do is bull**** or provide therapy services to those in need!! I am happy to provide the $5.00 a month fee to Steve to help him keep this site going and if he every needs more, all he has to do is ask. This Board is my home away from home (well, other than the real Disney World). And it's a lot cheaper than the Psychiatrist!!:animwink:

See what I mean? Mightyduck misconstrued what I said!! I didn't use the term "clique" (a narrow exclusive circle or group of persons..) but rather I used the term "click" (to fit together: hit it off ). I specifically used the term "with it" in my previous post to convey the meaning. Once again, I have to use a cautionary note. Some people on this board just don't practice what they preach. Disney is the champion of the underdog! Disney gives hope to the hopeless. You guys seem to like nothing better than to chase off prospective members rather than attempting to welcome them into your group. When I lurked I saw it and after I became a member I saw the same behavior. Do you folks not understand the lessons that Disney animated movies such as "Hercules" or "Mickey's Magical Christmas" try to tell us? I have not (yet) called this group narrow in its viewpoint. What causes me concern is that mightyduck may indeed be right. This may be a clique rather than a click. If it is, too bad, so sad.

After Steve kicked off a member, I think it was Marcia that put up a very good and impassioned post telling prospective members to lurk for several months before their first post in order to get the feel of the board and the members. I followed the instructions to the letter! I learned that marky is a drunk (or so he would like us to think), NowInc has to get busy and find a girl friend, Tramp is a very rich patriotic American and jay-rod is not in the washing machine but rather behind it (and I think he said it's a dryer). Fievel seems to be the lord high executioner (a student that works at Target and is getting ready to marry a woman that does not photograph very well). Maybe I'm not cut out to be a member and don't have what it takes.

P.S. mickeyfan....I lurked for over 6 months and found that some "exmembers" became targets of harassment from members on this board. Not a pretty sight! I didn't want to suffer needlessly. Nor do I want to hurt any feelings.

James we try hard to include as many people as we can in as many of the discussions as we can. We don't try to be a "clique", although it may seem like we tend to come off that way. In my time here (which has been since the beginning....almost), I have only seen a select few people "attacked" at all. We strive to be a self-policing group around here, and tend to go to Steve as a last resort. That's why you'll see us go after to try and correct any little scuffles or fights we see brewing.

Please realize that the closeness we show is the fact that we have become rather close and we know how to push limits and have fun. Whenever anybody new comes along, we tend to be welcoming, but not as open as we are with each other, if only for the simple fact that we don't know where limits and jokes feel right with our newer members.

And just so you know, NO, we don't talk about the regular members in the Premium lounge....our nWo buddy was talked about for a bit, but the text of what he was saying ended up there because that room tends to be a bit more adult.

If we've done this to you, or have attacked you in any way, I hope that it was for a reason. I don't seem to remember us ever going after you.

I, for one, am glad to have you aboard James, as you have just given us a glimpse that we may not have been seeing. You seem to have most of us pegged. I hope you just meant that the photo of my fiancee doesn't look good in that small size, and not that she's ugly. Because if that's what you're saying, you may see the "executioner" come out.

By the way, my executioner status tend to stem from the fact that I really don't care if the jerks that come on here to cause trouble hate me or not. Most of them aren't smart enough, and in most cases, I'm the one to let them know about it.

I was going to stay out of this..but I thikn i have something relevant to say...

other than the fact I cant spell to save my life...

I can see where James is coming from, as up until 2 months ago I myself was not a premium member..HOWEVER...

What you have to know is that I was friends with almost all the premium members waaaaaaaaay before I started paying..and I have very similar "relationships" with non-paying members as well.

The ONLY reason I started paying was to help steve keep the site open...I never had any plans of posting in the premium member board, and until recently I never even got a Private Message so a larger "inbox" was never needed.

Now that I have said that, I hope you all stop feeling so left out...we see everyone as equals unless you antagonize...and we value EVERYONES contributions, weather it is monotary or just posting...

(I saw "we" as an operative we...not as a description of the so called "clique")

James, how many posts of nWo did you actually read? I made several attempts at being nice to the guy even though his first two posts took hostile shots at me. I tried to help him use the forum in a way that would be clearer to other people and he refused to do even that. I even told him way back in the beginning that I hoped he would stick around and share what information he had with people on Universal. That didn’t stop me from being included in his list of nasty people back on his yahoo club.

I’m guessing that you missed some of his posts. Yes, people were being mean to him but that’s because he showed up being confrontational from the start and had been nasty to myself and others with some regularity and no, that’s not about having a different opinion it’s about how you choose to express that opinion. Did you even see his ever so eloquent post about why he hates “gays”?..

Steve actually has a real job and doesn’t have all the time in the world to patrol these forums reading every single post. The truth is that many of us may have a better understanding of what’s going on than he does in regards to some things. The problem with nWo wasn’t with one or two posts. It was with about half of the nearly 140 that went up in his first few days... He had already lost all credibility by making several posts claiming “facts” that were flat out false.

As Mightyduck stated, the real purpose of us paying to be premium members isn’t to get special privileges on this forum. If that’s what we were doing this for wouldn’t it be easier for us to all just start talking somewhere else?.. The truth is that even after we contribute, Steve is still paying for a good hunk of this whole site out of his own pocket and that money is going to keeping the ENTIRE site up and running. There are people who have joined that don’t even really post. They did it because they get useful information off the site and wanted to give something back.

As for noticing a group thing happening between many of the contributing members, you are right. Most of us are close. That’s mostly because we have all been here pretty much since the beginning of this new forum or earlier and have formed friendships as a result. We are also contributing members because we care about this site and want to see it continue to exist. If you have a problem with any of us, that’s fine but understand that if you choose not to join because you don’t like the company in the premium members lounge, you are only hurting this site and ultimately yourself if you enjoy coming here which you must if you lurked in the forums (a very SMALL part of this site overall) for months before posting. The simple fact that you seem to be trying yourself to discourage people from contributing makes you detrimental to this whole sites existence….

It’s got nothing to do with being invited. Five bucks get you in… and is it so wrong if some of us choose to help keep this site running have a little more respect for others that do the same?

No one invited me, it's a decision I made on my own and one that everyone here can as well, see thread at the top "Help WDWMagic by subscribing." That is the very opposite of a clique, and to try and prove it as such is pointless. (And it upsets people.) It's common for a discussion board of any size to have contributors and we will see more of this as time goes on, free web hosting is becoming very hard to find.

but i'm with them on this one...even though i'm not a premium member, and i wouldn't say that i'm exactly as "in" to the group as the premium members are, but i still feel just as accepted with all the premium members as they do with each other...i feel this way even though i find it difficult to find the time to post as often as i should...to be perfectly honest with you, james, this "family" is really the best you'll ever be able to find...they're always there for you when you need them, if you need someone to talk with, complain to, cry with, laugh with, vent with, etc...whatever you need, they'll always be there for you, and to be honest, i do consider myself one of them, so it's the same for me...whatever you need, i'll be around, so will everyone else...

we've already accepted you, you just need to accept us. and if you don't think that we've accepted you, it's pretty hard for someone to accept someone when that person won't accept that someone...

sorry if this was all touchy-feely, guys...but it's true, this board is alot more than just a bunch of blokes talking about wdw, we're a tight-knit group...and if you don't like the way nwo was treated, you've gotta think...what would you say if you were the target of nwo's poor treatment????

Oh we have done our homework haven't we. You did miss out the fact that nwo was a right wing biggot with some disgraceful opinions on ***uality, amongst other things - I don't remember the spirit of that in "Mickey's Magical Christmas".

Perhaps I am wrong here but the lack of anything in your profile leads me to wonder if you don't have something to hide, or perhaps your life is just so empty you have nothing to say, or do.

I find it sad you seem to think you are judged because you are not a premium member, or to put it another way, we are judging you because you aren't.

There are over 1000 members and about 30 or so of us contribute, even a drunk like me and someone as lowly as Feivel, (a mere student with a crappy job). You talk about not being part of a click, something that fits together well, I wonder why that is? I mean to turn round and say that someone you don't know doesn't photograph well is such a widely used statement in polite society isn't it.

Sure we will get together and try to put a stop to anyone who tries to bring this place down, by simply being bloody minded and then claiming they are being victimised (and no, I am not talking about you before you get all upset). But the people on here are good company and good friends. Perhaps nwo couldn't get his head around men being friends on an internet discussion forum, resulting in his barrage of abuse about ***uals, or perhaps there is something deeper to it (has anyone seen American Beauty?)

In the end James, it's your call. Everyone in this "click" has had abuse at some point or another, infact many members who aren't in our "click" had had some abuse / sarcastic comments made about them. The vast majority where big enough to take it.

James, the reason for the Members Lounge is to allow me to provide something *extra* for those kind enough to help me out with the financial running of the site. Without the support of the Contributers, the main site and this forum would be no more - as I cannot afford to pay several hundered $s per month out of my own pocket in hosting costs.
