Possible Frontierland expansion

The only way to keep the riverboat moving would be to only use one half (probably the southern) of TSI for a ride. The riverboat could travel around the other (northern) half with its dock by Big Thunder. In theory. I don't know that the southern portion of TSI is big enough for a big ride, though.
That would be a rather short run if it's only the front half...

Or, I suppose, they could move the docks to the larger rear island? But, it's quite iconic where it is...

Wasn't there also talk about a rapids ride in the general vicinity of TSI back before FLE was announced?
Ain't much room back there unless you hop the berm. Not unthinkable, but unlikely.

My best guess the Belle gets docked and rethemed to a Tiana New Orleans Blue Bayou style restaurant, a bridge gets built from just outside the queue entrance to BTMR over to the rear island, the E Ticket goes on the rear big island to the north, and I don't even have a guess what they'd do with the front Island...maybe even just leave it alone with some minor enhancements? They'd at least have more foot traffic and an excuse to open Polly's more! And, if they brought back the Fink Keelboats in a new iteration so you'd have them and the rafts, that would be neat (though, I believe the old Fink docks are now part of the HM queue...I could be mistaken)

I can't wait for D23 so the spigots can start opening on all this (though I dunno if this will come to be or will even be addressed...)

I also think this is the most likely course, honestly. The South Island is about the same size as Big Thunder but the back island is much larger and likely more suitable for a ride and supporting structures.

The quick/easy way would be to connect the northern island to the mainland, remove the bridge between the islands, keep the rafts as is (going to the lower TSI) and have the Riverboat go around the smaller island only. That would be a much shorter Riverboat ride, though, but would maintain the kinetics closer to the main part of Liberty Sq/Frontierland. Also, the Riverboat would miss out on most (all, i think) of the show scenes along the way since they are around the upper island. Also, you would use access to the canal to lead out of the park (right above BTMRR) but that's a minor factor as they could have a draw bridge around to allow for that.

Alternative, they could connect the lower island to the mainland with bridges, cut the bridge between the islands, and move the Riverboat dock and ferry boat docks more north. This would be a longer and better Riverboat ride around the larger island and keeps the show scenes. Keeps the connection with the canal out of the park too (but you might have to put in a drawbridge anyway depending on the final plans and land use). As mentioned, the lower island is kinda small, not a lot of room for a ride. This probably works best IMHO if they would actually fill in the water around the lower island making it part of the mainland (instead of just putting in bridges).

Only the track portion of Big Thunder. The queue and load/unload is about 1/3 the size, and with all that it's MUCH larger than the front island. Rather, the front island is more akin to the size of double dumbo (not kidding).

I'm afraid so.

To be replaced by what? I really hate to continue trashing Disney, but this is truly idiotic if true. I can hear the conversations now. "Hey, you know what would be awesome?! We take a truly unique attraction and trash it, and then replace it with a full Frozen makeover! We'll call it Anna's Arctic Arendale! We can even 'freeze' the Rivers of America by filling it in with dirt and painting it white and ice blue!"

I sincerely think that the costs associated with what everyone is describing is pretty insane.
Not really. 250 mil e-ticket, infrastructure to reinforce the soil and new paths - 100 mil, 5 mil to enhance the front island and make it ADA compliant, but more interactive and interesting, 250k to update Pollys, 10 mil to dock the boat, permanently mount it, and another 5 mil for restaurant construction, 20 mil to bring back the fink keelboats and reopen a new dock on the wooden pathways south of the Belle's dock.

Under 500 mil would do it.

Now, I dunno if that's gonna happen (not even close), but with the numbers being tossed around, this isn't unthinkable.

You know, there is a functional E-ticket, located on an island, loaded from the mainland, involving no bridges and with a fully functional ROA... in Paris.

Nothing is technically out of the question.
Yep. Depends on how much they want to spend. But we already have a pretty quiet river. What's one less boat, I guess...
