Possible Frontierland expansion

Wanna bet?
I ante up two Dole Whip floats.
The problem with trying to make this sort of bet with JT is that you would have to get him to commit to a time frame, and that will never happen. JT is perhaps the world's last unconquerable optimist. Everything he wants to happen will happen...eventually. If it hasn't happened yet, it will happen during the next refurb. If it doesn't happen during the refurb, then that was "prefurb" and it will happen later. If the ride in question has been razed to the ground, they will rebuild it somewhere else, better than ever. Every story has a happy ending, and if you think otherwise, it's because you stopped reading before the end. I picture JT in a room with a "I want to believe" poster, only instead of a UFO, there's a Photoshop of IASW in World Showcase. (And to be clear, I like JT--he's the sugar in our sweet & sour sauce).

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

I like JT too - that's why I anted up Dole Whips. Even if (when) he loses, he wins. :)

Some people like to play armchair imagineer. I often like to play armchair executive (James Spader/Maggie Gyllenhall movies not withstanding) and in this case, there's no way I could ever see monies allocated from a CapEx budget to move IASW.
Not to continue an OT tangent, but in Tokyo, it serves a specific purpose related to space in the park. MK really has no such issue and no such need. They have space for new rides if they want to build it. Even the TDL management team doesn't move rides because they LOOK better somewhere else.

Exactly. Its been fine where it is since 1971. It doesnt need to move just because a 19 year old who's played too much Rollercoaster Tycoon thinks it fits better elsewhere....

While I don't think It's a Small World needs to move, I can kind of see the mindset of putting it in World Showcase.

I mean, how does it NOT fit in Fantasyland? It's about world peace. If THAT's not a fantasy, then I don't know WHAT IS!

(Seriously, though, I think it fits in Fantasyland. Not every ride in Fantasyland needs to be about princesses)

I usually agree with Dave on here but in this case I only agree with it being unlikely to ever move. I do think there would be great benefit to relocating it though. The first being that even with the recent improvements in that zone of the park it feel cramped back there a lot of the time for no reason. By moving it you could push that area of the park back to both open up the space and give you room for possibly several attractions. Also, you could open a brand new shiny IASW attraction returning it to its glory and hopefully maintaining it better as well as making decisions during design to allow for it to age better. Of course this is a desire of mine that would see EPCOT become more of a World's Fair type environment where you would also see COP move as you make room in its location for an awesome experience to go along with another great replacement going in where the Speedway is and that "ride" going the way of the attraction graveyard if no "WOW factor" update of the ride could be produced. Tomorrowland and Fantasyland would both be much better off. Then you just need to slide a sick updated version of Indy into Adventureland and keep the current plans for Frontierland to have a pretty complete feeling Magic Kingdom with eyes on the Circus for future improvements.

I dont have the time to go through 39 pages on this thread, is there any outline of a satellite image of where this may be placed?

Need we be reminded that there's an ACTUAL, REAL LIFE, MAYBE-TO-HAPPEN EXPANSION PLAN being talked about for Frontierland, as the thread title indicates? How can we possibly be more interested in talking about genuine useless nonsense than real, coming-to-a-park-near-you plans??

I know we don't yet have a lot of info about what could be coming, but that certainly doesn't make it worthwhile to overpower this thread with ones that really, really aren't. Come on, guys.

Agreed, but we are pretty scant on details at the moment. We know a Frontierland expansion is near approval per @whylightbulb
@marni1971 added that it looks like TSI and the Liberty Belle will be spared.
@articos previously hinted that we could "get excited" at possible expansion at MK (it was in the MK 50th thread where someone posted a rumor about Frontierland and Tomorrowland getting new stuff).

Oh, and this project would be seperate than the ~$350M previously approved to go to MK for unknown stuff.

If anyone has another else to add, please do.

There should still be an island and there should still be a boat.

To what capacity remains to be seen.
Is there anything else in that area they're thinking about removing?

Most of Frontierland is pretty solid in it's current lineup. I'd be curious if anything else might go the way of the dodo in favor of something new.
