What even is DHS these days? It just feels like MK 2.0. Sure, there's good rides now and potentially more with SWL and TSL, but what's the unifying thread with everything going on there?

It's like a conglomerate of different films + a hint of old-school Hollywood.
EPCOT is heading toward the MK 2.0 feel too.

Would a MK.2 be that bad a thing? The "studio" aspect of DHS is dead, and so, then, what could be its theme except "ride the movies"? Which would make it, in effect, MK.2.
Shanghai Disneyland is the first of the Magic Kingdoms conceived of as a "Ride the movies" park. Even now, much of the Magic Kingdom is not trying to be Universal Studios.

Nope.

It is one of my favorite Disney attractions anywhere. I believe @WDWFigment would agree ... I think @Buried20KLeague too!
The Sinbad ride is a great attraction and the song is every bit the earwig that "it's a small world" is. For those trying to picture it, the closest comparison I can come up with is Splash Mountain level animatronics (maybe a tad better), and just the show scenes (no drops). It's an animatronic driven attraction that we probably did 5 times in our 3 days at DisneySea last year.

Guest satisfaction scores are largely a joke that are used to justify decisions already made.

It just is like the lunacy that no one liked the original EPCOT attractions ... sure, it was only the second or third most visited park on the planet, but no one liked WoM, Horizons, UoE etc. They like it better as a giant outdoor bar ...

Nothing like trading in 25-minute attractions for 2:50 ones, while Burbank is asking 'Can you cut another 20 seconds off that?'
This "solution" to Epcot has resulted in the attendance peaking in 1997 (or 1987 as @marni1971) has suggested. Epcot 2.0 has failed to evolve that park.

I don't think that really makes something MK 2.0. MK is based on the concept of general themed lands and the attractions within in a land are loosely related by their historical location/time or their ideals. While there have been some smaller environments (sublands) based on single franchises, that's not the overarching structure of the park.

A "ride the movies" concept with lands devoted to single IPs is quite different in my mind. Even if they develop something like a generic Pixar area or are devoted to Disney animation, it would be a different kind of grouping that what you find at MK. That's not really good or bad, but I don't think it's really that similar in execution. "Using IPs" is a type of execution, not a theme.

But, back to the greater point, I don't think there would be a problem with having a "second MK" at WDW. Certainly the demand is there. TDS is basically a variant of the castle park formula and does great as a second park.

Sinbad's Storybook Voyage is a national treasure.

Yep. Someone once hinted on these boards that there could be an isolated mini-land added north of the MK as a new train stop with artificial snow. Just wondering is this was Frozen.

In any case, I support Frozen in WS as such adds are necessary to keep the crowds reasonable in the MK. And it is "thematically correct" enough for most. The only way BATB could fit in DHS is if they created a land dedicated to WDAS. I guess that is possible.

Sorry for the essay.

It's not, at all...... but the argument has been ongoing since 2014 and probably won't ever end. Its their own fault.
