POP refurb?

I searched here and could not find anything.

I just saw on allears that the 70s building was just redone. Are other buildings going down in the near future?

Haven't heard anything but it's probably just painting and basic maintenance. I remember last Sept they were sandblasting and re-painting some of the yo-yo stairways on the 60's buildings.

As far as from what I saw in the pics, there is now a curtain that separates the sink area form the rest of the room and new flat screen TVs. With the TV came a new drawer set.

I don't recall if the paint was new or not but I am pretty sure the comforter is.

I don't remember seeing anything about them doing any type of updates for the resort.

The rooms look great!! Flat screen TVs mounted to a nice chest of drawers---even the Mods don't have this yet (aside from Coronado).

Privacy curtain, a huge plus at any Resort. Nice job.

Oh man, the refurbed rooms look great!!! I think I may need to call up Disney and update my request to specify a refurbed room in the 70's section!! :sohappy:

That curtain woudl definitely come in handy.. when you've got 4 people waiting for the bathroom can be such a hassle.

i don't know about now but it didn't used to be. preferred was the 60s because of the pool/food court/bus relation. I stayed in the 70s in 2008 and it was just the luck of the draw but in my opinion, it has the best location and rooms

I am glad that I am not the only one that was impressed by this. I was pretty shocked to see a flat screen too!

All of the Deluxe Resorts got their refurbs and flat screen TVs, correct?

Pop Century, Coronado, and Pirates Section of Caribbean Beach also got flat screens.


That leaves Fort Wilderness, Caribbean Beach, Riverside, French Quarter, and the AllStars without an updated flat screen, correct? Hopefully the next refurb will come soon, even if only for TV. The update makes the room look so much better.


And the privacy cuertain addition in all Values and Moderates is a huge advantage, and an excellent idea!!

Actually parts of the 60's, 70's, and 50's are preferred. All of those locations also have standard rooms too. :wave:


Love the new look of the resort! If I had known this, I would've booked it instead of Sports.

We were just there in December and felt this refurb was needed. Hopefully it's being done resort wide. The rooms look great. . .they've got 22 months, until we're back, to finish

I'm not sure what rooms have been refurbed and what rooms haven't. However, if it is all of the rooms in the 70's section (building 0 and 6), some of the rooms in those buildings are indeed standard.

I find it funny that there's so much talk about the flat screens. I was there last week at pop (building10) and saw the rehab going on in building 6. I then moved from POP to the POLY for a couple of nights. Nice flat screens showing STRETCHED SD broadcasts. What's the deal? All networks are HD, as well as the "DISNEY OWNED" ESPN network. Why go to such expense and still show SD broadcasts?????

I saw the work being done when we were there in Dec but wasn't sure what all was being done. I'm glad to see it involves the interior of the rooms and not just a fresh exterior paint job! I love the pictures of the refurbished rooms and hope that all the rooms are done by the time we go back in Sept. I really liked the new wall paint and the new bedspreads, but my favorite was the privacty curtain! YEAH!
