Pop Century room fridges?

I am staying in Pop Century in sept. and I am pretty sure that they don't have mini fridges in the rooms but please correct me if I am wrong. However if they don't in fact have them does anyone know if it is possible to rent one for your room?

Under any pretense you want. Walmart gives at least 30 days full refund if you are not completely happy. I had a friend who bought a 50 inch Plasma for a party from Walmart then returned it the next day when he was finished with it. It's not for everyone but it's an idea

That is stealing in my book.

How is it stealing? You pay the money for the TV, or whatever you are buying then deside you don't want it any more, or it's not the right item, you take it back and get your money back. Since you paid the money I don't see how you can say it's stealing.

wow...I am in no way a big fan of Wal-mart, and I rarely EVER shop there. But this is wrong.

You purchase a brand new item, take it out of the box, and use it (even if it's only for one day) then return it. You've reduced the value of the product because it's out of the box/used, and you return it and the store is going to have to take the value loss, which they of course pass on to the rest of us.

You are effectively renting the item for free. And make no mistake, you are costing the company $$, because they making nothing off of you whatsoever on that particular item.

Wow! I guess I would just never try to pull a scam like that with ANY store. We can argue the theft part as you have devalued the item as Walmart can now no-longer sell it as "new" or if you returned it "defective" then they or the vendor incure the expense for the shipping return. You are guilty of fraud as you are purchasing the item with the intent to use it and return it. It is rather extreemly dishonest unless you do return it and tell them you are returning it because you no longer have a use for it. The cost of your scam is most likely anticipated by stores like Walmart and the cost is then spread to the rest of us. I hope to heaven you don't have kids and are teaching them that this is acceptible behavior.

Its not stealing, but its why a lot of companies have gone to charging you restocking fees if you return it opened. They loose a lot of money when they have to try and resale something that someone returned.

Most of those fees I have noticed are only on computers and cameras.

I you cannot afford something, then you have no right buying it and returing it after it has been used. Yeah, it is like stealing because you are in essence renting it for a few days for free. I remember for my friends sleepover party way back her mom went to Walmart and bought 3 pizza pans for us to use and then returned them the next day....so not cool!

oh bless.... :brick:

you should never buy an item that you KNOW you will be returning...

:brick:

but in terms of a fridge... We stayed at ASMusic for a weekend once and brought one of those Coolers that hold like 24 cans for our Milk and Soda. We would just put ice in it before we left for the parks and again before we went to bed. The drinks always stayed cooled. No need for a fridge.

We've even used one of those styrofoam coolers .. Kept every nicely cold (including milk), with no problems. And, being styrofoam, it's cheap and you won't care about leaving it behind.

Hmmm, here is an idea. Buy one of the Coolers you can plug in and keep cool. Keep the box. Fill the Cooler full of non-perishable food stuff and then ship it to yourself at the resort. Unpack, remove food, plug in the cooler and you are good to go! Ship it home when you are done. You save the money on the Fridge rental and save money on the food as well. It should outweigh the shipping costs I would think?

Hey there all, I had a discussion about this very topic not too long ago with someone who's information I trust completely. The answer is that you arent supposed to plug in ANY Appliances in your room that arent supplied by the resort. I can see the point as if they supply the appliance they are responsible. What happens if someone plugs in a cooler and the cord is frayed and causes a fire? I would think it is mostly a safety/insurance issue. Belle

Red Devil, when you get there buy a mini fridge from Walmart and return it when you leave! I got that from this site!

I am NO advocate of Walmart, but, honestly, this has got to be one of the most classless suggestions I have EVER encountered. If you can't afford the vacation, don't take it. It's that simple. Moderates all have a mini fridge, just pay for the upgrade or pay for the fridge at $10 a day. If you can't afford either option, then buy a $5.99 styrofoam cooler and ice it up.

Wow. Just. Wow.

Em

p.s. It's suggestions and people that do stuff such as suggested that makes me NOT go to Walmart. This only reiterates my opinion of some (not all) that shop there and why I am not comfortable around them.

Hi Belle,

I believe the term to key on is "Appliance". This would apply to fridges, microwaves etc but I think that a plug in cooler would be alright. My laptop has a 90W power supply and probably draws more power (and could have the same frayed cord issue) than a portable cooler.

thanks,

Hey Kevin, I was just posting what exactly was stated to me. I certainly wouldnt consider myself an expert on that subject, but I would imagine anything that is outside of what is allowed would be confiscated. That having been said, I bring my own hair dryer with me on all my trips, regardless of if the resort supplies one or not. I just think mine works better. I do plug it in, use it and then unplug it to conserve on vanity space. Is that against the rules? Im not sure but no one has ever said anything to me.:shrug: Belle

Hi Belle,

Not trying to argue, just trying to interject some reasoning.
Hmmm, Does Disney have a list of approved devices? That would be handy. I like to stay between the lines, as it were, when I can. Should we run this by JP or would that be putting him out on a limb?

thanks,

Please keep in mind that it's not just Walmart that people do this at. A friend of mine did it at target and another did it at K-Mart (when it was still around).

Also in regards to my above post, I am not saying that I agree with buying an item then a few days later return it. It's just that in today's world people will do almost anything to save a buck.

Disneykidder, your friend should have NEVER returned those pizza pans. For all she knew, the pizza she cooked could have caused food poisoning or something worse. A TV is one thing but a food product is another.

OK I'm done ranting. Sorry for the long post.

no...they don't have DVD players in the rooms. We always bring our mini portable DVD player and watch that if we want to watch DVDs.
