Pocahontas Show Closing

I love how so many are bagging on an attraction they didn't even take the time to see. Frankly, I always saw this as one of Animal Kingdom's gems. It was a great way to introduce kids to certain animals that might not have been possible to stick in a petting zoo (skunks, porcupines, snakes, etc.). I enjoyed the puppetry and always managed to find time to stop by once each trip. Oh, and I never attended a show that wasn't full.
It was a small show, but it was never trying to be like Festival of the Lion King. Anyone who went into a show called "Pocahontas and Her Forest Friends" and expected a Broadway musical was going to be sorely disappointed no matter what. I, for one, will miss this attraction, and as previously stated, it's going to turn Camp Minnie-Mickey into a one-attraction land. How sad is that?

I remember reading in a guide book that they were thinking of replacing it with a dog show based on Underdog or something. Believe it was a Jim Hill rumor too.

Tarzan they got rid of because of Nemo didn't they? And yeah I agree, some movies like obviously the classics in Fantasyland, and stuff like Lion King, Mermaid etc stick with people a while. But I was surrpised the Hunchback show only recently closed at DHS. But again it depends on the ride/show too. I mean who would have thought Song of the South would still be popular, but Splash Mountain is just so great.

But yeah just because a movie was good doesn't mean the ride will be (surely someone is going to bring up Stitch but I for one liked it). Then again there's been a few sub-par films that have been turned into excellent rides/shows (Dinosaur, Monsters Inc. Comedy Club, etc.) And on the flip-side, yeah the Pirates movies were great but the Haunted Mansion and Country Bears movies were awful lol.

I hope this eventually happens. I think it would make an excellent dark ride somewhere in AK. Where exactly they would put it (beyond Camp Minnie-Mickey, of course) is beyond me. But I'd like to see it happen in any case.

Never got to see this show, mainly because it was outside and just too hot whenever we found ourselves in CMM for FotLK. I did want to see it eventually though. Youtube?

I guess this means I won't be seeing this show at the end of Sept - even though I've never seen it :lookaroun.

I will miss this show and am disappointed that I can't share it with my niece & nephew on this next trip. I just loved the animal interaction, and watching all the little kids' faces. I remember our trip when AK first opened, there was a problem and they couldn't perform the regular show, so just did a demonstration on how the various animals were trained for this performance. I was fascinated and when we did go back at a later time that day to catch the show, it somehow added to the experience to know what was going on "backstage".

Hopefully it won't just sit empty because for families with young children this was a good option. Personally we haven't seen FOTLK in ages either, but some people flock to it every visit. Choices add to your WDW experience. An empty theater won't add to anyones experience.

We spend a lot of our annual visits in AK, and we've never managed to see this show---there has always been something we'd rather do instead.

We've also never made it back to Planet Watch.

I agree completely. Not everything at WDW has to appeal to all age groups to be worthwhile.

Actually the animal training show is scheduled, once per day, while the regular show is scheduled several times a day.

I've never even been to Camp Minnie Mickey, much less Pocahontas's show. It just never appealed to me, so I too am fine with the closing of Pocahontas. Hopefully, something really great will replace it.
