Pocahontas Show Closing

Surely they can come up with something better than a tired old log flume ride. They have one in every park in america. Lets hope for something much better!

As far as Beastly Kingdom goes, Ive asked them before and they had said that they had thought about building it to the side of Harambe Village (between Camp Minnie-Mickey and Africa) but the idea has been thrown around so many times that they cant seem to agree on one general area to build it. The best guess my manager friend had was that they might build it in three to four years from now if they do decide to build it but BK is too uncertain right now.
I think it would be a good addition to Animal Kingdom but I have been back stage (when I was a cast member) and there is not alot of room is some areas to build because of service and cast member buildings are very close to some of the lands esp. close to the Oasis; Camp Minnie-Mickey; and Dinoland.

There is a nice giant plot of land behind Kali and next to everest and you must always remember Camp Minnie Mickey is just a place holder. It doesn't even take up a good chunk of land thats there.

So Splash mountain is old and tired? I like the Idea of a Soarin type ride, perhaps one that follows the trail of the migrating Wildebeest.

I am pretty sure CMM only uses a relatively small portion of the area available in that "land" (expansion pad). You can see it clearly on google earth. I would be shocked if the only thing added is a log flume ride. There was a person who posted here a while ago that seemed to be informed that said he thought they were going to do a North America expansion similar to what is at DCA around grizzly peak. Trails, log flume, animal habitats etc (think Wilderness Lodge type setting). But unfortunately he does not post here anymore.

By the way, I believe AK still has over 70 acres of land left and even more if they ever remove Dinorama.

There seems to be enough room in the trees near the Tusker House for the Lion King show - the problem would be the congestion in the area.

Has relocating the show been something that's actually discussed at Disney, or has it merely been speculation on our parts as the next step to a CMM replacement?

It's all speculation based on the fact that CMM always was temporary and that the area was originally slated for BK. I will be shocked if the show does not relocate to the Africa section of AK or Adventureland. I just realized it could also be located in Fantasyland and fit in very well. Time will tell.

By the way, the fact that the show has a permanent and very well done version in Hong Kong indicates to me Disney realizes it has a classic attraction on it's hands and that is another reason why I think it will get a permanent theater (similar to Hong Kong) somewhere in WDW.

Who knows, maybe they will add it as a longer version (90 minutes or so)at a new theater in DTD and charge a seperate admission???

Skies the limit, I just don't think it will stay where it is.

A log flume is an attraction with endless possibilities. They're so much fun for the entire family and really help to cool you down on hot summer days. In my opinion, the parks really need at least two or three more water rides. You could pop a log flume in almost anywhere in Walt Disney World, add some detailed themeing, animatronics, live animals, etc, and you'd have an excellent, fun experience. Why not go for it?

Yeah, god forbid that we should get another tired attraction like Pirates of the Caribbean or Splash Mountain.

There was an idea that a family friend of mine had (his family would visit the parks every year), he said why not have a jeep ride through the North American section with deer, black bears, alligators, etc. It's an idea that would be worth looking into since quite a few guest are from over seas and probably have not seen the native animals to North America. But its all according to how much land they would have to work with as to what they will do with it next.

I had heard of a ride system Disney was toying with that would combine a typical boat with hydrolics to make less intense versions of the CTX motions on a boat. Perhaps something like this is in the works?

That would be nice. One crafted volcano with two or three show buildings would fit the area nicely. They could have jttcote, fire mountain and ctx boats.

Those are hardly old log flume rides lol.

But in all honesty the ride I most want to see them do is the Geyser one they were talking about to go next to BTMR in FL. It was supposedly gonna be an inverted version of ToT kinda deal

My 6-year-old daughter will probably miss this one a bit, but I have a feeling she would have grown out of it sooner or later anyhow. This was a good show for the little kids... but since my youngest is now 6, I don't think we will lose any sleep over the fact that it is closing.
