PO Riverside thoughts?

I have booked 5 nights here, we leave in 2 weeks. Out of our many trips to WDW this will be the first time to stay on property! So excited!:sohappy:

How is the food court? Is the pool nice? We are driving so transportation isn't really a problem. I have read that the bus system is not the fastest for this resort. Our time there will be so short, I want to make sure we don't miss any of the magic!

Any comments/suggestions?

I've never stayed or visited POR. Have many friends who have. All have loved it. According to The Disney Magazine- POR's pool, Ol' Man Island, is the 2nd best on WDW grounds. Have a great trip!

You will not be disappointed. Our favorite moderate resort - in fact it is my wife's favorite overall! Food court is good, Boatwright's is awesome, Pools are good and we have never had a problem with the bus service there!

LOVE LOVE POR!!! You won't be disapointed!! beautiful grounds.. which we were just there 2 weeks ago and they were putting in new shrubs and such...nice pools...especially the main one (with a great lounge outside,) boatwrights restaurant has great food...yummy bannana stuffed french toast..bob the piano man who plays in the lounge on certain nites is great ..for the whole family too!! Buildings 14, 16 and 18 are nice and close to everything...the buses yeah I'm kinda jumping all over the place I know , but to me this resort for being a moderate , can be right up there with a deluxe..do a search on this site for por lots information you'll find...plus everyone here is very helpful.....we've only stayed at this resort for the past 10 years and have never been disapointed.... we recently joined with the dvc so our new place will be Saratoga Springs..But there is something about POR...oh you'll love it!!! Have a great trip!!!

Wow getting so excited! :sohappy:

I requested a room in Magnolia Terrace just based on a few reviews. Would you suggest another building?

Seems to be pretty even -some ppl prefer the mansions, others the bayou.

POR is Great

I'll be down on the 21st and am looking forward to getting back. Stayed here last year and really liked it. I found the bus service to be good. Check the map it is central to almost everything with Epcot, Studios, and Downtown being the closest. The grounds are beautiful and there is an amazing amount of activities here for a moderate resort.

We were at POFQ for a couple nights in August. Loved the pool! Be sure to try the Beignets in the Mardi Gras inspired Float Factory...as good as in New Orleans! (...well, almost!:lookaroun ) And the Sweet Potato Pancakes at Boatwrights are to die for! I told our waiter how much I liked them...as we were leaving he rushed up to me with a printed card with the recipe for them! :) We stay at DVC resorts usually, but we plan on coming back here sometime!

If you get a chance, whatever you do, check out Bob's Wild (piano) Show at the bar!! Definately one of those not advertised in the brochure little something extras....or as Bob whould say "Nobody has more fun then us!!" I think this time of year, he's usually more weekends though. Check into for sure!

Either part of the resort is just beautiful..we've stayed in both sections, mansions and the bayou section...and jsut out of out preference really enjoyedthe bayou area..but either one is beautiful..yes it is a big resort compared to the others...but you'll enjoy it...oh also, (which the wife would love) see if you can book a carriage ride...they have them at POR and are so nice, great way to see the resort.....

Port Orleans Riverside is my favorite resort you will love it. I have stayed in Partrerre Place (sp?) and several of the bayou buildings before and two weeks ago stayed in Magnolia Terrace. Magnolia Terrace is the best so far. Close the a quiet pool, the main pool, the food court and a bus stop plus it has an elevator if you are on the second and third floor.

The transportation is not all that bad either and really it is part of the experience, I would give it a try. Remember the buses take you right to the gate at MK and not to the TTC.

We would rather stay there than a deluxe because it is that great of a place to stay. The food court is the best out of any of the hotels! There have been complaints about the transportation, but we have not ever had any problems with it after 12+visits to POR. Have a great time! We are shooting to stay there again in February 2007.

I stayed at POR last May for the first time and really enjoyed the resort. In fact, my family and I are staying at POR in November. I absolutely loved the resort grounds and overall feeling of this resort.
