Photo update as of Saturday, October 8. One day after winds from hurricane Matthew. Fabric coverings still in place. Two large planter boxes being constructed on either side of the main entrance.

Have to say, if it weren't for following this thread and seeing all these under construction photos, folks seeing the finished product only will have no clue the material is fabric and not some rigid construction material. It's rather convincing, if it holds up to the weather.

The roof for the outside porch is now in place. Oh look the ladder

The fire escapes have been removed but should be going back in in a new configuration sometime soon. You can see at the bottom of the photo that they are building out a steel stud wall to start to close in the last mega gap in the building facade.

The fabric sheeting is now in place all the way around the observatory but they are far from done fussing with it. Unfortunately we should be seeing some ventilation holes cut into it soon for HVAC, plumbing vents and kitchen ventilation. The final look should be fairly good but it will not be as clean looking as it currently is.

The man lift is up there for the workers securing the final panel on the far side of the building.

These have become a "fad" at food locations across the country. It's not exclusive to Universal. I think they actually started at a place in NYC.

Elaborate milk shakes are a trend right now. Toothsome's has them at around $12, or you can get comparable quality with less garnish at Cowfish for half the price. In our Instagram environment, these types of things get posted on social media all the time. They sell themselves via viral marketing.

For the record Hersheypark too has had these extravagant shakes, since long before toothsome was even announced to my recollection.

For those who worry about the strength and look of this new roof, Sunday I was at DS and a worker was walking across the panels, suspended by a rope. You could barely see an indent where he walked. When complete, you'll be hard pressed to tell that it isn't a metal roof.

Unless you're catching a direct reflection of the sun. I noticed this on Saturday from I4 and it was immediately obvious.

They're not done yet. The covers should help. I do agree however that it's kinda disappointing looking.
Deep down I knew they were coming back, but I was secretly holding out hope I was wrong. Ha ha.

It's just that the new skin makes the building so clean and rhythmic. These vents are different sizes, are in no thoughtful pattern, and just completely kill the overall look. I'm sure most people won't care, but the designer side of me does.
