Epcot needs a few more attractions so they can bypass the tiered FP+ system completely.

Here's where it stands as of this week:

Tier 1
  • Frozen Ever After
  • Test Track
  • Soarin'
  • Illuminations: Reflection of Earth
  • Epcot Character Greeting (I honestly do not understand the recent placement of this one)
Tier 2
  • Mission: Space
  • Spaceship Earth
  • The Seas with Nemo & Friends
  • Living with the Land
  • Pixar Short Film Festival (again, why does this need a FP+?)
  • Journey Into Imagination With Figment
  • Turtle Talk with Crush
No FastPass+ needed
  • Gran Fiesta Tour
  • American Adventure
  • Impressions de France
  • O Canada
  • Reflections of China
Ratatouille and Guardians will be Tier 1 attractions (probably bumping Soarin' and/or Test Track down to Tier 2) and I can imagine Mary Poppins will be a Tier 2 attraction. Coco probably would have been in Tier 2.

The Magic Kingdom is the only park without tiers, and they have 25 attractions that can have FP+ reserved. Epcot currently has 12. If they add at least 3 more attractions to the park, I think they could get rid of the tiers. Coco could have sped up the process.

That's unfortunate. As much as I love The Three Caballeros (it's truly a showcase that let the Disney artists' imaginations run wild), the current attraction is still very much a quick paste-up on the original attraction. Coco has such a wonderful visual style that an attraction that would allow that style to translate into three dimensions would be stunning.

Definitely unfortunate.

I imagine one reason is merchandise. But have they really made much available?

It's "interesting" what they choose to go with and something so natural as this in Mexico is put on ice. I just don't get it.

I also imagine they'd rather not spend the money on the overlay when the Mexico ride as is is "fine". And it is. It shouldn't really be a priority, but this overlay just made so much sense and is one overlay that actually should have happened. But I don't mind the Three Cabs either. I just think Coco would fit beautifully.

It's bizarre they don't agree. I bet it has to do with $$$ anyway you look at it.

I think more Epcot depends on a couple of things...mainly “corporate will”

1. If they can push the attendance to 60 mil annually and have EPCOT become the “feeder” park for the other 3...is that Ok with big shot bob?
It’s not.

Theres huge concern about Epcot’s attendance and satisfaction problems. They don’t want it ending up “good enough” even if that’s where it’s heading.

That all seems logical...but considering the mismanagement of the park dating to 1995...i’ll be in the skeptical section - B103 - until I see it happen in the park.

Here’s to hoping - at least.

Its been over 20 years since the last time the entire park was actually 100% "open" with no vacant areas....longer if you include the Odyssey building as being vacant.

Just out of curiosity has it maybe occurred to them (management) that they have hacked away at the park so much and shuttered so many things and changed too many things not for the better that maybe people miss how it use to be?

There are two battalions of apologists attacking we - the purists - all the time from the flanks for the sake of just guzzling whatever.

Obsession with food and wine - which is 30 years of the same...
Begging for IP and princess breakfasts cause the kids are so bored...

It is a lot of things that divert from the fact they really haven’t maintained Epcot for along time.

Five years of diversion is now being dished out by DAK and soon MGM.

I love how you called it MGM, I still do too.

Animal kingdom will go back to no tiers when the rush falls - unless they add something else big.

The only hole I see in your argument is that Mary poppins doesn’t exist...hard to make a concrete argument using the hypothetical.
