Pixar Pals Parking Structure Specifics/Updates

They really should rename the toy story lot now.

I think it would make it easier for guests to remember where they are parked if each parking area is designated a unique name from eachother.

They have the

Mickey and friends
Pixar Pals

so rename the Toy story lot to

Marvel lot

Except they didn’t include a Toy Story level in the new structure... probably because they don’t intend to change the name of the Toy Story lot.

So it looks like I was right in the ballpark of when this thing will be completed, and with it being completed in phases.

So June/July (likely July now) for Parking Structure opening.
Aug/Sept for Pedestrian Bridge and final project completion.

So do you think their will be has a pedestrian path that runs from Mickey and Friends to the bridge? Or guests will just have to take the escalator down to the plaza and then back up the escalator to level 2 of the Pixar Pals structure?

Both.

Along each of the car connectors between M&F and Pixar Pals (still like Cleo better) is a pedestrian path. So guests can either walk that to the Pixal Pals escalator hub from M&F and down to the bridge or they can go down to the plaza and up the escalator to level 2 and head to the bridge. I think most would choose the latter as its less walking and easier to take escalators.

Glad that their is the option and that will help with the clutter in the loading plaza. Wouldn’t it be the same amount of walking either way?

Distance-wise yes, but actually walking no unless you're one of those people that likes to actually walk down/up a moving escalator.

lol so you think 2 escalators distances less of walking will make people choose one way or the other? Maybe.

I think it’ll have more to do with if one is parked closer to the pedestrian path near the connectors or the escalators. Obviously more people will take escalators anyway, (especially first timers) because that’s what their accustomed to and will follow the herd.

I wish they would have added a nice themed fountain in the plaza area. I'm still ed that every international resort has a nice themed fountain and all we have is the ugly poppy fountain in DTD.

seriously they should build one in this new plaza between the structures and get rid of that ugly fountain in DTD and put a nice Disney themed fountain.

I would even be open to having two nice fountains with the one in DTD moving east to the open area right behind the DTD sign.

Its the same distance either way, no question about that. But when you're talking about actual steps that lead to tired feet, standing on an escalator to travel that distance is way easier than actually walking it.

OK, this is JUST a guess, and not inside info...

Basically reverse the drop off area in the mornings, where the bus goes to the south side to drop off (closest to DCA), then makes a U-turn to pick up the few people who need to head back to their car. So not every bus has to make the U-Turn... Then when the demand for drop-offs is low later in the day, close down the Toy Story Security Check, and the few folks headed to the parks can go through the Main Eastern Gate. At this point, you switch to having the buses drop off at the Northern area, which will allow the stacking of buses for pick-up, and keep the long lines out of the way.

Give each bus a large plastic card, Green on one side, Red on the Other. Show Green if the passengers have been through the security check. Red if the passengers need screening. Not too hard.

Disney saves money in not having to man the Toy Story Lot later in the day, which is an added bonus.

We couldn’t just get a nod to the old Pinocchio lot huh? Looks like my dream of parking on the Stromboli level is over.

I guess it makes sense. Little kids have no idea who Cleo and Gepetto are. 🙄 Then again, I had no clue who Mr. Toad was when I was a kid.

Snotty brats.

I was hoping for the Pinocchio theme as well. My car is named Figaro and I was looking forward to parking on Figaro level!

It’s not a big deal but it would be nice if not EVERYTHING was an exercise in corporate synergy. A little nod to the park/ parking lot history would have been nice. Just something to say “hey we re not all corporate robots in marketing with spreadsheets.”
The original DL lot was all about synergy. They could have just put numbers and letters but they used Disney Characters. I don’t see this as any different. People just have a problem with the Pixar thing.

I personally don’t have a problem with Pixar at the parks. I have a problem with the way most of the Pixar properties are executed at the parks. Probably because most Pixar properties had the unfortune of being brought to life at the parks at a not so great time. The back burner Cheapy stuff and overlays while the real imagineers and $$ are over at Star Wars Land.

Anyway yeah their has always been synergy at Disney parks. But as most this things in life, balance is ideal.

The average person doesn't know the difference between Disney and Pixar and would think those characters, and even characters from DreamWorks films are all Disney.

I'm not sure anyone would confuse parking in Mickey or Donald with The Incredibles or Monsters Inc. The Pixar Pals levels are all named for movies and not characters.

As suggested by @Ismael Flores, the real confusion to be concerned with is people conflating the new Pixar structure with the Toy Story lot. At the end of the day people are tired and, in that haze, be apt to follow directions to a lot named after a Pixar property because they recall that they parked at a Pixar property and reasonably assume they're near each other.
