I'm not too sure...I think the "classics" (especially the ones inspired by Walt) should keep their own stories and characters...especially since the film can always! be viewed when released. Good film! But also, a good ride! :D

Grizz.... you never want ANYTHING changed!

Change scares you...lol ;)

I want the sword fighting pirates from Paris to come to Orlando.

Oh and did anyone else notice this little fo pa....

Back in the 90s it was decided that PofC needed to be 1990s PC, and all the women being chased by pirates had to hold food or booze.

Well in the movie, the pirates chase some women... tisk tisk, not very PC at all is it.... even though we learn later they can't enjoy sins of the flesh, but still
:animwink:

They're PIRATES, for crying out loud! Should they not be using guns and swords and sit around in a circle to discuss how to save the environment?

How is the DL Pirates different than the WDW version?
Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland is quite a bit longer. It is almost double the time though this includes riding the chain back up the hill at the end. There are two drops in the dark with one being more than twice as high as the one at WDW and the second one being a bit higher. The begining of the ride you are floating past the Blue Bayou restaurant ( sort of like El Rio del Tiempo) and through the bayou before descending. The scenes seem abit more spread out at DL and the ending is different.

One thing missing from movie, the auction. Never take it from the ride. I love the line.

"We wants the readhead"

The Auction isnt in the movie, but the Red Head def is!! Remember the scene when they first get to tartouga and the "Red Head" slaps him??? Looks just like the one in the ride:D

I think it's good they are not changing this ride just because of the success of the movie. Adding new technology or updating it in a few years would be fine with me but right now I think the ride it great as it is.

The Pirates of the Caribbean at WDW is a travesty, and was never designed by Walt Disney. It is simply not a classic by Disney standard. Any change to it is welcome. However, the Disneyland version is completely Walt's vision and should not be altered any time soon.

Allow me to explain.

The Disneyland version is about 15 minutes long. The WDW version is about 9. Because of this, the Disneyland version has a coherent storyline you can follow, WDW's version sorely lacks this.
Also, I believe Disneyland's has not gone through the political correction process. (fortunately)

The ONLY advantage the WDW version has is the queue. It is far worse than the Disneyland version in every other way possible. There are few people who have been on DL's version that can dispute this.

Thats what happens when you do a rush job on the ride because the public demand was so high.

But it will do for those of us who are unlikely to ever visit Disneyland. I for one dont want cut n paste attractions making everypark the same.

Amen. So we don't have a fixed storyline. Big deal! The Haunted Mansion doesn't have an official storyline either, and that's what's so great about them, everyone can create their own tale.

Pirates has always been a hit. Back when Walt Disney World opened, guests demanded the attraction be built as there was one in Disneyland.

No, no *defined* story. But as MKCustodial says, that's part of the magic of it. This can be paralleled to such classics as "It's a Small World" and "Journey into Imagination."

However, the Imagineers did create a story. A story based on history, myth, and mirth. It's our job to discover that the bones we see at the beginning are those of the pirates we will 'go back in time' to discover. As we meet up with the mayor in the well, the auction, the pirate in the pigs, the pirate trying to steal goods to his small boat, and the jailed pirates, enchantment reigns. A sensational feeling of nostalgia arises for Walt Disney World and Disneyland fans through the "touch" inspired by Walt Disney, similarly to those of the other attractions he never got to see completed: Country Bear Jamboree, Hall of Presidents, and The Haunted Mansion.

Anyone who rides PotC at Disneyland FIRST, will agree that it is a much better version of the attraction.

That being said, I think the same reaction occurs conversely, with those who have seen Cindy's castle at WDW FIRST and then head west to see Sleeping Beauty castle in all her miniature glory.

;)

All in all, if you haven't experience the Blue Bayou, and the PotC in Disneyland, you absolutely must.

I'm sure I will eventually get to DL and see the original Pirates.

For the mean time, the WDW version remains one of my very favorite rides, and I hope they can keep Hollywood out of there, regardless of the movie's very well-deserved success.

I love Dl's but i still love WDW's. Dye to all those years of ridding it before getting to DL.

Dl's did get updates with a few anamatronics on the lift back, if i remember they were used from a WDW attraction or so i heard, it shows the bones clutching to the gold and such,

I am happy there are no plans to change the ride because of the movie.

One of the BEST ways to artificially antiquate a ride or attraction is to base the ride on a movie that has not proven itself over time... that is, it has not yet become a "classic".

It would become dated in less than a year. Now, were "Pirates" to be considered a Disney "classic" in some years, and THEN elements from the movie were added, this would be a different story, the ride would be paying homage to a loved classic. To make a change now would have the ride "adding hype" to a new release.

This is great news. Thanks for putting those rumours to bed Grizz!

Trendy brings up a good point, Why don't they think of this when they destroy other classic we love?

Don't change the ride! Don't add a new theme to the ride. Simply add a little touch of the movie too it. And don't tell anybody about, make it "hidden-mickey-esque"

Turn one of the pirates into a Jack Sparrow Look alike.

Hang the monkey from somewhere, holding the Aztec Gold.

Paint a ship in the background and write Dauntless on the hull.

No big changes, just subtle tribute to the movie!
