Why should there be consistency?

I’m not sure we’ll be getting anywhere with that question.

My point was there has never been a female pirate in this attraction before. So the consistency argument, while I understand, doesn't hold well here because you're not likely to get a female pirate that speaks the same. Especially a redhead that appears to be modeled after Anne Bonny.

It may be interpreted as a transitional time scene. Leaving relics of a storied past of piracy from the grotto to the glory days in a ransacked city.

Right, I get its placement as a magical time transition. I just didn't get what had 'happened' to the pirate. At first I thought he was trying to get to higher ground than the octopus or something. Trap makes sense.

Might be the only time we ever agree on something though. :)

In all seriousness this change doesn't strike me as that big of a deal. I respect that some fans are super passionate about Pirates and hate when Disney tinkers with it, but for some reason I can't get that worked up about this particular change. It'll likely go unnoticed by those who aren't intimately familiar with the attraction, which is probably the vast majority of riders. The spirit of the show appears to be intact and the new story line is a better fit for an audience of families with kids. In the end I'm happy that the auction scene has moved to Yesterland where it belongs.

Ya everything goes unnoticed by the average peasants. Anyway, like I said for me it’s less about the change and more about how they went about the change. They could have done so much better.

That is not a true characterization of me at all, and I've stated such when brought up previously. While I do give Disney the benefit of the doubt a lot of times, there are changes I don't like. However I typically am not just going to bash something because its a change.

I’m sorry but off the top of my head I can’t think of one thing you’ve criticized. I think most of us here don’t bash for the sake of bashing. We criticize because we re disappointed and know Disney can do better.

I see they've bathed the area around her in green to help her 'red' ness pop some more. I guess they couldn't have just made her dress more of a bright crimson?
