No one’s portraying themselves as “final arbiters.” We are staying our opinions and others are choosing to see that as us seeing ourselves as “final arbiters.”

That maybe true of you. But I've been on plenty of fan boards, including this one, where the stance is the public that enjoys Disney's current offerings just don't know any better. This stance is the basic tenet of having a superior opinion and being the final arbiter of quality.

It’s an opinion. Have any of the other folks you’ve run into stated otherwise, that they were speaking hard facts that it was their way and their way only?

That’s definitely my opinion. General Disneyland “fans” don’t know any better. It’s my opinion though. It’s not superior and it’s not final. It’s just an opinion.

That's the thing though, its all opinion. There is no hard facts when it comes to this. Its not like there is a list somewhere they point to saying "Hey look I'm the final arbiter of all things Disney". But yeah they have the opinion that they know better than the rest of the public. That stance, even though based on only opinion, shows that some in the fandom feel they are the final arbiter of Disney quality. Its a common joke amongst those that look at fandoms from the outside. Just look at the comicbook guy in Simpsons, its a parody on this type of person in fandoms. And all fandoms have them, from Sci-Fi to Fantasy to Disney.

Stop looking at it as folks believing they are “final arbiters” and simply look at it as their opinion and only an opinion and maybe you won’t feel the way you do.

The fanbois are showing up...off to the left of the video. Popcorn Bucket and Lightsaber at the ready. Can you imagine all the socially awkward conversations she's going to have today...she's going to hate her job in a few hours.

Might be the only time we ever agree on something though. :)

In all seriousness this change doesn't strike me as that big of a deal. I respect that some fans are super passionate about Pirates and hate when Disney tinkers with it, but for some reason I can't get that worked up about this particular change. It'll likely go unnoticed by those who aren't intimately familiar with the attraction, which is probably the vast majority of riders. The spirit of the show appears to be intact and the new story line is a better fit for an audience of families with kids. In the end I'm happy that the auction scene has moved to Yesterland where it belongs.
In 6 months...ok, 6 weeks, nobody is going to care about this. The people that complained, much like GOTG, will be riding it and begrudgingly enjoying it.

Oh I think everyone here is just as full of BS like I am. I don't take anything anyone says here seriously. But I do look at the way people speak. Speech, even in written form, tells a lot about a person. So even if you want to call it opinion and only an opinion, some in the fandom do come across as being the final arbiter of all things Disney.

Anyways back to Pirates.

I will be riding through because I love the rest of the attraction but the change to the auction is still a downgrade. And it's been over a year since MB opened and I still say it's a piece of garbage and if I didn't have free park hopers to use I'd never set foot in DCA again because of it.

No offense, but if this is really your view of these boards, then why come on here and have discussions at all? Surely there are better uses of your time and sanity :)

the new Redd AA not good.

She's OK. Her movements are certainly way better than her almost static predecessor. My issue with the new Redd, one that I also have with other fluid AAs, is that some of her gestures are a tad bit too exaggerated, but that's me nit-picking. Kids will love it.
