Pirates refurb dates released

I see they've bathed the area around her in green to help her 'red' ness pop some more. I guess they couldn't have just made her dress more of a bright crimson?

Probably had the costume made and saw that as an easier fix. Definitely wish her dress had more pop in its color. Part of why I love the new grotto pirate is his costume is so perfectly in line with the rest of the attraction.

Right, I get its placement as a magical time transition. I just didn't get what had 'happened' to the pirate. At first I thought he was trying to get to higher ground than the octopus or something. Trap makes sense.
The pirate touched the cursed treasure which killed him. Same as the other pirates in the grotto. As to why he's sitting in a net and has no legs, I don't know. The practical answer is it allowed a line, the rope, to split him in half for the mirror effect. In story answer I can't figure anything out but I'm not going to nitpick this one and just accept it as a nice little addition.

The lighting seems better, as well as the audio. The additions of the face-changing pirate and octopus are quite nice and don’t take away from overall attraction. So happy Davy Jones is gone, and I’m ecstatic to hear the previous audio again.

I hate Redd and her corny chicken gang, but I love the rest.

Great surprise! To lose Davy Jones and gain a new scene with old school WED charm with no IP tie in that fits with the rest of the attraction is great. Caverns for the win!

I’m sorry but off the top of my head I can’t think of one thing you’ve criticized. I think most of us here don’t bash for the sake of bashing. We criticize because we re disappointed and know Disney can do better.

Oh I've named off a whole list of things I criticize Disney about when this question got brought up just what like 2-3 weeks ago. But as I've said before I don't see the point of constantly posting negativity over something that I have no control over, especially when there is already tons of people doing it. I see it as just piling on an already negative mound, doesn't help me and doesn't help the conversation. So instead I try to inject counterpoints to the negativity. But then I get questioned like this on why I'm not negative like everyone else lol.

Exactly, and this is why I get so frustrated and angry. I know Disney can currently pull out the creativity and quality work. This is proof they can. They just generally refuse to do it, and that’s what es me off.

Lol no the question wasn’t why aren’t you negative. I just said I’ve never heard you criticize something in response to your last post. You just admitted that you don’t criticize anything here so how would I know what’s going on in your head?

Appropriate. Another non Marc Davis octopus in a Marc Davis attraction. Haunted Mansion is next to get an octopus added.
The Haunted Mansion needs a giant octopus.

I say we name it Octopussy.

By golly! That's mighty positive of you!
I'm a positive person. Really, though, the chintzy effect, good costume design, animatronic octopus, and return of the voices makes it easy to look past the one flaw of the pirate's situation not making a lot of sense. He's sitting in a net on a pulley system connected to cannonballs which is lifting him up. But why is he in the net in the first place? Where are his legs? I don't know but look at that cute little octopus.

So if the moon is out, why isn't the captain a skeleton? He is cursed right? Also how is he going send the people on land to Davy Jones?

He does have legs - they are there - but I agree the way he's not quite propped up makes him look like half a person.

Anyways - I agree, and I dig the helpful dollop of wax-museum cheese.

Oh - is the idea that he could have easily hopped out if he had just dropped the treasure?

...but...he could have just picked it back up again after getting out...

err...

whatever.

Because I've posted it all before. I don't even remember what thread it was in recently, maybe the Pixar Pier one. But yeah I'm not going to make every post something I'm critical on. I don't want to be like everyone else, lol :p:cool:

Some things I'm critical of Disney in no particular order

1. Current state of Tomorrowland
2. Current state of parking, should have been dealt with years ago. Finally they are doing something about it.
3. Letting entertainment buildings like Fantasyland theater sit empty for long periods of the day. Should be used for other things.
4. Current state of Hollywood Land, tear it down already. (sorry I know a sticking point for some)
5. Current state of most of Indiana Jones effects, should be fixed.
6. Current state of Adventureland choke points, this is being addressed.
7. Taking so long to put a new large scale attraction into DL proper. Shouldn't have taken 20 years.
8. Taking so long to address the deadend at Critter Country
9. Letting Motorboat area sit for so long without utilizing it.
10. So much wasted space with Autopia and Subs, goes back to point 1.
11. Issues with AAs in Splash Mountain.
12. Pooh should be torn down and either use the Honey Hut version or use the space for something else.
13. Not purchasing Garden Walk any of the times its been up for sale.
14. Not having retractable seating for F! or WoC.

These are just the quick ones off the top of my head. I could probably come up with lots more.

Seems like you're more upset with management not doing enough. But what about what they have done; what changes in the past few years have you really just not enjoyed and saw as lowering of quality?

Are there things I haven't enjoyed, sure. For example, most of the daytime parades I don't enjoy. That is just because I'm not a daytime parade person. But there are sure a heck of a lot of people that enjoy them. So obviously they are of quality to those people, so who am I to say if its lowering of quality.

Too many in the fandom try to portray themselves as being the final arbiter of what is and isn't a quality offering in the parks. Sorry but that is just not the case. Disney and the public are the final arbiters.

So there's nothing that you've enjoyed, they changed, and you no longer enjoyed?
