Pirates of the Caribbean Auctioneer/Redhead Changes NO POLITICS or SOCIAL ISSUES, PLEASE!

While looking up the critic reception on the movie on Wikipedia, I came across the following:

Hacking incident[edit]
In May 2017, the film was allegedly stolen by a group of piracy hackers, who demanded a large sum of money from Disney in order for them not to distribute the unreleased film. The company refused to do so and worked with the FBI in order to get the identity of the group.[141]

Pirates have gone after pirates!!
The movie was nowhere in the same league as the 1st (none of them were), but it is a mile ahead of the 4th, and had Avery good villain. The directing was solid, and the film had a good premise with epic scaled sets.

Parts of it were disapointing because you could really feel they could have done much better, but it was still very entertaining for me at least. Sadly Jack Sparrow was not witty, unpredictable, or he did not have the ability to get out of any situation as per the first film. Instead he just had very good luck. I will say though that Pirate's 5 had stupendous trailers.

It isn't disappointing as it will make a hefty profit, but it did have the lowest take from them all (adjusted for inflation). One of the problems has been the excessive amounts of sequels. Terrible franchises (how on Earth would you pay nearly $10 dollars to see it?) like Transformers are finally slowing down, and even the overrated Despicable Me Franchise is making less and less money with its deteriorating quality. The fresh films are doing great like La La Land, or even story driven franchises like Planet of The Apes.

But I'd recommended seeing Pirates 5 for sure if you are a fan of the series, but it will be hard to win anyone over if they are not a fan already.

I really like the Barbossa AA... nice...

SPOILER ALERT The AA's seem to be moving very nicely (which is always a plus) but the swinging pirate seems a bit more hyper than before. Of course, the new auction scene is what most of us are interested in. My French is very limited so if there are any French majors out there who can translate, maybe we can get more sense out of it. Again, the AA's look great and the Redhead doesn't look as out of place as I had feared but without a proper translation of the dialogue, how do we know if the pirates still want her? Speaking of female pirates, was it my imagination or is one of the dueling pirates also a woman now? The eye patch distracted me a bit but that definitely looked like another female pirate. The new Barbossa looked very impressive and frankly, I would rather see him in this light than as Commodore Barbossa on the Wicked Wench. The new Jack Sparrows seem to be working very nicely as well but again, without a translation, I have no idea of the pirates are looking for him as in the U.S. versions.

Three years of French have pretty much completely failed me, but it seemed like it now has the same Jack storyline as here in the states. It looked really good overall, including the reworked auction scene. Barbosa was also very well done IMO. I shouldn't watch any other version of Pirates, just makes WDW look worse!

Does the ride actually fit into the films in a particular way?
Do the films even follow a particular timeline?
I've only seen the first three and only remember the first one.

Doesn't the first film kinda, sorta seem to take place in the same timeline as the ride?

I'll refrain from much comment on the changing scene other than to say that changing it is stupid but if they are going to change it, make a major change. Don't just put lipstick on a pig where it is obvious that the scene used to be something different. It's like when a motel stops paying franchise fees and changes from a chain to some new brand. You can always immediately tell that it used to be something else.

Yes
So the redhead scene was changed to make the women more empowered yet they are all still silent, while the men all talk!!!!!

I'm offended.

They are trying to minimize the costs involved with just shuffling around figures and props, not replacing the entire set for the vignette. I'm disappointed that they havent added in other characters from the movie like Zoe Saldana's Annamarie, Martin Kebba's Marty or any members of the Brethren Court or their retainers.

There are plenty of Female pirates from history to choose from like:
Anne Bonnie
Sadie the Goat
Teuta of Illyria
Back From the Dead Red
The Lioness Of Brittany

But undoubtedly the most successful pirate male, female (or whatever these days) was Ching Shih who amassed a fleet of 1800 ships and 80,000 crewmen before she successfully retired with a Chinese government pardon in 1810.

Ooooh Barbossa looks good.

I haven't watched anything of the Paris ride pre-Jack Sparrow/auction changes; what else changed? Some of these AAs look pretty recent.

Also kind of noticed that while there isn't much of a story in other original POTC rides, there is the overarching story that no matter what the pirates did on this world, their stories will be forgotten and they'll just be bones. I'm not sensing much of that here.

Blackbeard is Very awkwardly placed. The original Captain of the Wicked Wench is still there, Color me shocked. On the other hand the morality tale that Tony and Chris Tietz intended for the show has been completely ruined by shoving Hector and Jack into the grotto sequence. I was actually going to compliment them on their restraint until the grotto scene.

What's changed
*Blackbeard appears for no good reason
*Medallion Calls underscores bombardment
*Auction Scene
*Jack in barrel Pooped Pirate with map and key
*One of the sword fighting pirates is now a Woman
*The moral of the story completely inverted by shoving Jack and Barbossa into the caves.
Other than that I am surprised how much they didn't change.

I was just shocked to see how much was different from WDW and Disneyland? Like, I was not expecting to see the pirates and dog with keys at the beginning.

Blackbeard feels so out of place. Almost everyone has forgotten Pirates 4, so it makes no sense to shove him in the ride.

Overall I would say they arguably improved the Town Scenes and messed up the grotto. Ironically in the Disneyland version in 2006 they arguably improved the grotto and messed up the town scenes. The 2006 WDW Refurb was a complete mess all around. I just hope they bring back the original captain to all the versions but please no Barbossa in the grottoes. I will say the AA of Barbossa actually looks like Barbossa. Something the ones in the domestic parks never really managed.

All in all I think it is OK...I noticed they added a man into what was the bride auction... turning over his portrait of himself to be auctioned...
I love DLP Pirates.. The refurb looks great in general.. Last time I was there it was looking pretty shoddy...

End of the day, it's a ride in an amusement park. It's not a platform for -- or against -- social injustice.
I've been on plenty of amusement park rides that had AAs (or static mannequins) in poses, doing things that made no sense in the context of the ride... this will be just one more to add to the list.

In discussing the change with my DS, he shared some brilliant insight with me.
He said:
"Why would the pirates hold an auction of the items people are bringing them? Wouldn't they just steal the money from the people that came to the auction AND take the items with them?"
I said:
"You are very smart and a better show writer than those that WDW imagineering are using."
