Photopass

Over the past several months, I've seen several threads and posts about Photopass. I've used it before on previous trips, but I've never purchased an entire disc. I've only taken my card to the photo station and purchased certain pictures.

However, I have read that you can pre-order a disc before you leave for your trip, and then when your trip is over, have all your pictures put on that disc, and then you get the rights to the pictures so that you can print them out whenever you want.

My trip is now 8 weeks away, so I figured it's getting about that time when I need to start thinking about doing this, how to do it, when to do it, etc. Should I go to the site and order this disc now, or can you only do it a few weeks out from your trip, and what is the site that I need to go to? If memory serves me correctly, it's about 100 bucks for the disc, is that right?

we ordered ours after our trip. Once you register your Photopass card, you have 30 calender days to make edits etc before you have to make the decision to purchase the disc or not. If you wait until after your trip, you can have a lot more time to add borders, graphics etc into your pics from the photopass site. It is worth it. We ordered the CD, the photopass movie, and even designed and purchased a scrapbook, they were a lot of money, but VERY well worth it!

So what happens if I purchase the disc before my trip? Do they send me a blank disc that I then must take with me to WDW and have all my photos put on it?

Or do they send me some kind of a receipt that I take with me to WDW, and then when I go to the photostation, I give the receipt along with my photopass card, to the CM, who them puts all my photos on a disc?

I think the pre-order may have been a special offer available for a limited or specific time frame. The photopass site has nothing on it about preordering. BTW, at the end of our trip last year, we went to the photo place in MK, previewed our pictures and then bought the CD to take home with us.

I did not buy the photopass before I left but remember getting a discount email before my trip (I booked everything thru Disney.)I believe the discount was 20%. I did not order it but did end up ordering 6 pics after the trip. I received a discount via the website when I registered my photopass cards.

HAVE A GREAT TIME!!

Here is the link I have for the pre-order discount:

www.disneyphotopass.com/previsitcdplan.aspx

It is not listed on the main site....you have to be "in the know" :lookaroun

PS It is a 20% discount and is still valid.....

Whoa, I was looking for that the other day and couldn't find it anywhere on the PhotoPass site. I've never ordered/preordered the CD before but was interested in it this time around as we have a pretty big trip coming up. I remembered hearing about the preordered discount CD, so I went looking for it. When I didn't find it, I just assumed that it was a special offer that didn't exist anymore. So, it's still valid, hey!?! Why can't we find it on the main site anymore? They don't want people to know about the discount or what!?!

Does anybody know how far in advance you can order the CD? Our trip is not until Sept. but I would pay for it now if I knew I could save a few dollars (even dollar counts at this point)!

Thanks for the link!!!

Its $99.95 if you preorder.

I just did it two days ago.

What you do is you go after your vacation and type in the 'promotion code' that they email you when you preorder.

I also discovered some more info that I was looking for as well. I found the number to book a private photo session at the Grand Floridian! If you preorder the CD the sitting fee is only $24.95. And it states you can book this 30 days in advance. So, thanks again for the link, I found two lots of info that I've been looking for!

Hello Sbkline,
I'm a photopass cast member and I can't tell you what a good idea it is to pre order you CD.
How this works is that you can preorder it for $99.95 and all you will receive at this time is a code. Tthen you go on your vacation, taking as many photopass pictures as you possibly can, and after your vacation you go home and edit all of your photos on the photopass website with any borders, overlays, or character signatures. (Make sure you do this because once you've ordered your CD you wont be able to access the software anymore)! Then you click on order and the site will prompt you for a code (this is where you enter the code you received when you preordered). Photopass will then mail you your CD with the edited photos and the originals, all on one CD.
And that's it! Very easy,
and I believe the CD is refundable for 2 weeks, so that if you're unhappy with the CD as a whole...you're still set.

As a side note: The pre-ordered CD can only be redeemed from home. If you try to get it at one of the viewing centers you will be referred to the website.
Also another great tip in photopass is if you really want a great shot in one particular location (for example Cinderella's Castle) you should have several photographers take your photo ( 2 or 3 down main street) and at different times of the day.

I hope this helps!
If you have any other questions feel free to ask!

Hi, my name is Lord Helmut, and I am a photopass user....

So, we've made about 6 trips in the past couple of years to DL and WDW, each time purchasing the advance CD.

* No, you don't get a CD that you carry around, you have a card obtained in the park from any photopass photographer that you will use for the duration of your trip (or multiple trips)

* After you trip ends, you have the ability to add borders/graphics/neat touches on-line.

* There is (currently to my knowledge) a limit on the number of photos. We've racked up over 600 on a trip (3 CDs worth)

* You can use the photopass on Test Track to get an on-ride photo.

* You can pre-order way in advance, I do not believe that there is a time limit for the pre-order. You must, however, get the photos within 30 something days from the end of your trip. They will not be stored forever.

* It is very important to have the number on the back of your photopass card. You will hear the advice over and over to take a digital picture, save it to your cell phone, or somehow copy the number in a safe place. This will allow you to get your photos even if the card is lost.

* Even at $99.00, I consider it to be an excellent investment. Generally I take the photos on trips, and I was more than slightly disturbed to review a lot of trips, I didn't appear in 95% of the photos....

* Within a couple of weeks... your CD arrives in the mail. Mine from Jan is awaiting loading onto this PC, so this is where this ends....

Thank you to all of you for your responses. I guess I have several weeks yet to decide, but your replies are certainly helpful.

Absolutely, the CDs have a copyright notice on them which says YOU are the copyright holder, so the picture cops at walmart will not trouble you at all....

I looked this thread up on the thread finder thingy, having no idea that someone bumped it up today anyway. :ROFLOL:

Anyway, my question is regarding where all the photopass photographers are. Do they only hang around the parks, or are there any at the Boardwalk and DTD? Is it still the case that there are no photopass photographers at the resort hotels?

Also, I may be wrong, but I was kind of thinking that a photographer took our picture at our character meal at Chef Mickey's last year. Is that something other than photopass because I thought I remembered seeing the picture that very evening at the restaraunt and having the opportunity to purchase it if we wanted to. And are there any other restaraunts where they do this? Can I have that put on my photopass card?
