What i did was just hand the Photopass people my camera to take a picture with as well, that way I don't have to pay a completely unreasonable price for photos, I also hand them a photopass card that way they/I don't feel like I'm scamming the system. I haven't bothered with the photomovie thing, it doesn't seem like it is worth the 40 or so dollars. The disc to get your photos is not worth the $125.

When I went at the beginning of the month you could not put your ride photos on photopass.... which I think is ridiculous. Why not be able to purchase those at home too?

yeah special if your paying that much for the photo pass you should get ride photos also, well any photo that disney takes for you should be able to be placed on that CD in my opinion:confused:

The problem with attraction photos is that most of them are under a different contract than Photopass. All of the on-ride photos (except Test Track) are owned by Kodak and are thus incompatable with Photopass. Test Track is the only on-ride photo that can be put on a Photopass at this time.

As for whether it's a good deal or not...it depends. I worked at the Epcot Camera Center this summer, which is one of the busiest Photopass locations in the parks. I saw Guests with 400+ pictures buying the CD, which becomes a really good deal at that point. $125/400 pictures = 31 cents per picture. All rights for the pictures are released to you, which lets you print out the pictures anywhere you want (a text file is put on each CD with the licensing agreement on it). Some of the Photopass photographers take really, really good pictures. I'd recommend getting pictures taken by the Photopass photographers with the Photopass camera and your camera, then look at the photos and see which ones you like better.

I'm a photopass photographer,
and you can put the test track photo on there...but not any other rides that I'm aware of.

You won't loose your photos...they're good on the wedsite for 30 days. And if you're worried about loosing the card, some suggestions would be to get the same photos on different cards (which is easily done from one of the viewing stations) or write the number down somewhere. If you're reallly reallly worried about it... call home and leave a message. That's full proof.

Oh and if you are going to get the CD...please, order it online before. Like someone said , $25 is a load of difference, andd by knowing you want as many pictures as you can get you are more apt to seek out photographers that way (not that we're not easy to find...we're everywhere)

From what I've heard the Movie and Book are loved by kids.

If you order it online beforehand, can you still do the photo shoot at the Grand Floridian?

This last visit I got the Photobook ... It was definately cheaper than buying 5x7's of each pick I wanted ... It took a while to create but I really liked it!

It was in a nice leather album ... and little smaller than I had assumed but it worked out well for what I wanted!

If we take more pics this time, Its possible I will go with the CD this time around!

Meal Question

Is there a way to get meal photo's on the CD? I noticed on my last trip there were index numbers on the pics (sorry if that is a little vague, but I do not have one with me). That would be great to have the originals since we always seem to get these pics too.

Thanks

I was under the impression that the photopass photographers were only at the entrances to each park....they are other places also?

No, ever since its inception back in 2004 they've nbeen doing icon shots and character shots.

You're thinking of what Kodak used to do. Interestingly enough, Kodak is now out of the theme park photo business, beyond their on-ride fufillment contracts at disney.

Long term (like when the contracts end) you should be able to eventually get all rides on there. (Keep in mind long term means nowhere in the foreseeable future.)

As for Photopass managers.... ive only known two that were worth anything (one of which transfered out quickly) and the other last i heard worked resorts. My main criticisms of them are that the managers didnt have any photography background and hadn't a clue for the most part when it came to photography.

I believe things have changed there somewhat, but back in the beginnings Disney was just wanting merchandice managers to run a photo department. Which makes no sense whatsoever.

My feelings on the whole department is that the quality as a whole just isn't up to par with my expectations. I feel that the Disney name generally means "the best" and the photos that i've recieved from that service dont meet up. Your experience with photographers will vary.

However..... they finally listened to me and threw up a light stand and softbox (very well themed) on the veranda for the Jack Sparrow meet-n-greet photos. The exposure still wasnt right but oh well, theyre trying.

The funniest part is the photopass photographers who try to make it their business to tell entertainment greeters how to do their jobs....

I got my packet in the mail yesterday and had a free photopass...is this the samething you guys are talking about?? I took it to be a free picture at one of the parks. Can someone help clarify this?

I upset them during Piratres and Princess by taking my own pictures (sadly a corrupted card has left me with one shot and Jacks eyes are shut.
However I was on my best behaviour and resisted the temptation to point out that the flash meter would be more accurate if used properly.

At least they are stretching beyond the boring firing squad pose that seems compulsory.

Photopass photographers are actually all over the parks. Just at Epcot, they're at the main entrance, Innoventions fountain and the sculptures by the Seas with Nemo and Friends. Plus, there are roaming photographers throughout World Showcase.

THAT is a free 5x7 picture. But you can also pre-pay for a CD that will have all of the pictures taken by photopass people on it. The first photo person you see can give you a photopass card with a bar code. Everytime you get a pic taken by one of them they scan your barcode and the pic is added to your account (you only use 1 card the whole trip). You then get to choose one free pic out of those and if you wish buy them all on a CD or put up to 100+ on a movie (I did that it's nice) or have them printed in a book for you. The wife and I ended up with 125 photos this year, they add up fats as photopass people are EVERYWHERE.

I bought the movie. It was a bit pricey but I was in a Disney mood and couldn't bear to lose all of my 125 pics (even though I have duplictes on my camera they aren't the same). It's pretty cool because you choose 7 chapters. Each chapter is a them of your choosing such as MK, Epct, pop century, whatever. You arrange the order of the pics and can even download your own or use Disney stock photos from their site. The CD has video from all over the themed area of each chapter, so MK chapter has video from the magic kingdon with characters and animations. You'd want to do it at home to arrange it and choose your pics, of which you'll have too many to fit. You can also add images to the pics such as tinkerbell floating above you or the date at the bottom, etc.
