PHOTO-Fantasy Forest gets more "Forest" Monday, May 7

It seems that Disney is trying to get the exterior of the mountain up as quick as possible, so when they open the rest of Fantasyland, it won't be as much of an eyesore. I don't think they want huge metal beams taking you out of the story of Fantasy Forrest. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole exterior of the mountain is near completion by time the opening happens, leaving the track work, inner theming for the rest of the time slated.

Wow... really? It seems so... far away. Cursed forced perspective!

I honestly thought it was an additional decoration/theming to make it seem like there's more castles.

Is the land really that big?!

No, it's all forced perspective. It's just on top of the restaurant building with the rockwork making it seem as if it's way off in the distance.

My question is how are they going to make you believe that you walked that far to get into the castle. There MUST be some theming inside to get you from Point A which is the village to Point B which is the castle.

Totally creepy-sounding, but I saw you taking that blurry photo. I remember because I know the CM in it and also my first thought was "he's definitely taking photos for some Disney website..."

I don't see anyway that they will have the exterior of the mountain looking anywhere near complete before the rest of the area opens. Steel always goes up quickly and it makes the project look like it's just flying along, but once they get to the exterior detail it will take a while for it to be complete. They started the rock work on the Beasts Castle back in March of 2011 and it's still not complete.

That's pretty funny!! I usually only take pictures for myself (I have hundreds and hundreds of photos), but like to share when I know it's newsworthy. Sometimes I've seen pictures of mine show up on other websites too, and they're usually credited to the site where they found them, so I take that as a compliment-although I wish this particular shot hadn't been blurry, I couldn't really see it on my camera screen. Sadly, I won't be taking any pictures in the near future, as my next trip isn't scheduled til late November/early December of this year. I hope there are others shutterbugs documenting the changes, as construction progress continues throughout the rest of the year!

Seems weird that they didn't put the actual track on before covering where the track is going with structural steal...

BTW - thanks -- awesome shots.

This seems odd to me too, but what do I know

I guess the plywood on the walls is forms for concrete?

I saw on another thread that you will go through the "magic mirror" from the movie to transport you from the village to the castle.

I have a (dumb?) question about the forced perspective of the Beast's Castle. We all saw that the castle was not very high at all when the photos and video were released showing construction workers installing it. The illusion of forced perspective is destroyed when a 'normal' sized object is next to it. So my question is...How do they keep birds from landing on it (or the Eiffel Tower at the France pavillion) and shattering the illusion? (Or are we supposed to just think "Wow, look at that pterodactyl sized bird on the castle!!"?)

LOL! That is hysterical. I guess it's Disney, anything can happen. Even pterodactyl sized birds. :ROFLOL:

I think they're trying to get the exterior steel up so the can get that huge yellow crane out of there as quick as possible

Considering the will probably start putting up the castle lights soon the might as well leave the crane there.

That's in the Belle Meet & Greet storytime attraction, where you enter through the cottage and are "transported" to the castle.

It's unclear how/if there will be any suggestion of transportation when going to the restaurant.
