Phasing out Fantasmic?

I find it extremely oderous that WDW cut this Fantasmic schedule back - what - 6/7 months ago, under fears that the economy/attendance was going to be a major problem.

And in the several months since the original cost-cutting cutbacks, while attendance has not drastically suffered, Fantasmic continues to run part time (unless the mobs get so bad that TDO begrudgingly offers an extra show or 2).

It's a great operating philosophy that carries on the tradition of customer service at the Disney Parks. Namely, cut while you can if you have a potentially good excuse. But if the excuse doesn't pan out, you can always keep the cuts, because after several months, everyone will forget why the cuts were made and accept it as the status quo.

That must be on P.425 of the TDO Manual. Oh, my bad, it's only a 1 page manual. Make that 1 sentence manual. "Efficiency trumps show and customer satisfaction."

Yup. I'm in full agreement with you on this! Attendance has not fallen like they thought it would. I hope that Fant's schedule will come back to a regular showing but I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to keep it to 2 nights a week even once the economy returns.

But where, The Flame whips and walls of fire would scare the animals at AK, unless they could remove Fantasmic and upgrade the amphitheater for it...

Yes the Fantasmic theater seems perfect for WoC. I think once a few WDW folks see the show next year, they are going to want it for DHS.

As for the logistics, the flames, water effects etc, are highly controllable so I don't see that being a problem. The show is scalable and could be designed for the venue.

It's going to make fantasmic look sad by comparison.

Of course, cut in half because they don't want to spend the money on a complete show.

I've heard WoC costs more to run than Fantasmic so that is not the case.

WoC is a game changer in every way. It will make Bellagio look trite by comparison.

Then forget WoC coming to WDW. They don't want to run a "cheaper" Fantasmic due to costs. Do you honestly think they would add a more expensive show? What would they do, run it once a month? Seriously now jt.

Something needs to be done at the Studios.

And that's all I'm going to say.

Usually a show that is being eliminated gets cut first, then goes seasonal etc. So..........

I will be suprised if WDW does not get WoC or something like it at DHS.

No thanks.
I find the idea of World of Color "Lite" extremely unappealing.

At the end of Fantasmic's lifespan, DHS will need (and deserve) a fully original show...but it won't be soon.

Could we even call it the "lite" version?

And why scale it back jt? If WoC is as awesome as it sounds, and if it is going to WOW the WDW people, then why would they want a scaled down version? Oh yea, MONEY. Cheapo's won't spend.

It would be "lite" I would think, but less filling. :lookaroun

Actually I think the DHS arena is almost as large and I think they could recreate 80 to 90% of the WoC, especially if the "island" was removed or modified. I predict when the buzz starts after WoC's debut, every Disney theme park resort will be demanding a WoC or something similar. It will be that good.

I guess you are not up to date on the show. It is MASSIVE. Unlike anything ever done before. As I said it's a game changer. Nothing ever like it before but DHS could have a great scaled version.

TDO will be demanding a WoC show, minus the World and minus the Color. We'd be lucky to get the OF.
