Phasing out Fantasmic?

You're correct. :)
.
Ah, cool. Knew it used a Disney Buzz word.

Yes the Fantasmic theater seems perfect for WoC. I think once a few WDW folks see the show next year, they are going to want it for DHS.

As for the logistics, the flames, water effects etc, are highly controllable so I don't see that being a problem. The show is scalable and could be designed for the venue.

It's going to make fantasmic look sad by comparison.
Agreeing here. However, I really don't see them expanding the theater...Hopefully they would put the tech to good use, though. Rumors are they want to do that for IllumiNations.
I've heard WoC costs more to run than Fantasmic so that is not the case.

WoC is a game changer in every way. It will make Bellagio look trite by comparison.

I guess you are not up to date on the show. It is MASSIVE. Unlike anything ever done before. As I said it's a game changer. Nothing ever like it before but DHS could have a great scaled version.

It's going to revolutionize Nighttime Shows for Disney. :D

A scaled version, though? Eh. I would not want that, UNLESS they scaled it down only to match the venue. And by that, I mean the add more Hollywood things. Not size.

"Scaled" is probably not the best word. Perhaps reconfigured is better. But in any case, it will have people demanding their own version I think. The Fantasmic theater just seems made for such a show. We will know sooner or later.

Ok, that makes sense.

I would think they would have to get rid of the F! Mountain, though....
I cannot see how anyone would be in favor of bringing a scaled down version of a wonderful show. If it is so wonderful, then bring it ALL over.

Exactly. We lost out on Fantasmic...Why should we loose out on this?

Maybe they will. I could be wrong that it would not fit in the Fantasmic theater. It might very well if the island is removed..

At the end of Fantasmic's lifespan, DHS will need (and deserve) a fully original show...but it won't be soon.

Perhaps a fireworks spectacular themed to Hollywood musicals. The finale would feature music from a Disney classic. A giant Malificent AA could conduct the show. Call it, "Sorceress on the Roof".

Just a thought.

We watched Fantasmic on our last trip after not seeing it for several years. I was really surprised how much time of the show was devoted to Pocahontas. My kids have never seen that movie and had no idea who any of the characters were. Let's face it, folks... Pocahontas isn't exactly a Disney classic... but it was a big release right around the time that Fantasmic was created so many years ago.

This show is an example of not updating an attraction for such a long period of time that it becomes difficult to update without a total overall. At this point, it's probably easier to start over with something new.

Can anybody tell me exactly the relevance of the pocahontas sequence? To me it just doesnt fit... but maybe my analysis is off:shrug:

Heck, if removing the island will make them bring over the entire show, sign me up to help demolish the thing.

Sounds too much like Universal 360. There are fireworks in MK and Epcot. DHS should have a different type of nighttime show.

Not sure why Pocahontas is in the show. I don't think it is horrible though. I'd much rather Peter Pan from DL's version though.

No thanks.
I find the idea of World of Color "Lite" extremely unappealing.

^Shining post of truth in an otherwise unruly thread!
:sohappy:

On the topic of Night time entertainment at Animal Kingdom, There's just no show for Discovery River since it's built as a waterway for transportation and sepreation of the "hub" from the rest of the park. Really there's nothing for that.

A nighttime parade would be cool, but I personally would not sacrifice changes in the pathways or landscaping for it.

At the Time Fant! was in planning/came to WDW Pocahontas was the latest successful Disney Movie at the time, so from a marketing point i guess it made sense.

Maybe the plan was to update this section with the newest Disney movie, to keep it modern a relevant, but the money was most likely an issue here.

Plus I'm sure it was cheaper than recreating the peter Pan Ship and fight sequence.

I would really hope there are no plans to get rid of it!! I still haven't had a chance to see it. Every time I go to WDW I always have some sort of reservation or plan at night that I can never make it. Maybe next time I'll plan accordingly!
