Passholder Lines

"Raining on my parade" LOL. No. At the end of the day it's a nice plus that AP's get their own little entrance (for a month or so as a test and when a lot of passes are blocked out) but like a lot of things much ado is being made about nothing really. Why is someone getting so worked up over it? LOL

Very much like this idea. We're heading to the parks this week on Wednesday as it were the day this will "roll out". Looking forward to seeing how it works out for us.

I've personally always wanted this honestly. I don't think it would have been too much to put in place before this. Anyhow, thumbs up from myself!

That is not really the same situation since those who are in the wrong place do not have valid admission for that time.

Maybe I'm not getting your point, but there are people with ADRs using that line while regular guests are lined up. And there are days where the gates are opened early. I've been in both situations several times and it has worked fine.

On the other hand, Disneyland's early opening line is mass confusion.

I have an AP but I typically visit the parks with friends who don't. Would they be able to go on line with me or would they have to wait on a different line?

If someone without an ADR tries to enter the park what happens? They are turned away because they do not have what is required for entry. What happens if a non-Passholder gets into the Passholder line? Turning people away for such a technicality comes across as customer hostile but anyone being able to use the line negates its benefit.

Annual Passholders only. But I know that won't stop people from trying.

Personally, I'm all for this. Now that our kids are older, most of my family can typically bypass the general cattle rustling... err... security lines... for the "No Bags" line. If Annual Passholders get a separate security line and a separate turnstyle, I will be quite pleased. This is something that we've wanted for a long time. Remember - This isn't treating anyone differently once you get into the parks, just entering the parks.

As has been mentioned, Disney has tried to "stupid-proof" entering the parks, but it's truly, yet sadly, amazing at how many people still can't get it right. You don't have to hold your card or MagicBand near the touchpoint until it stops spinning. Hell, our mantra since day 1 has been, "Kiss the Mickey's". Easy peasy. Once it turns green, you can scan your finger, no need to wait for a solid green on the touchpoint. Just knowing/doing that saves 5-6 seconds in line. If we could save that 5-6 seconds per person, over the course of a day, week, month, year... That's one helluva lot of time saved, and just imagine how much quicker the lines would move entering the parks.

It will be interesting to see how many AP holders aren't good at it. :hilarious:
Also, I am curious how are they going to police whether the peeps getting in line are AP holders vs 'just' Resort guests.
Will I need to glue my AP car magnet to my chest? :p

If they wanted to, they could make it so that non-AP tickets don't even work at the AP tapstiles. This would take the heat off the CM. People are programmed to accept that a computer program can't make exceptions on the fly and will be resigned to get into the line they should have gotten into in the first place.

Signage will become very important to wave off non-APers and to keep the AP tapstile as far away from the others as possible so that people are being segregated way before they get near the tapstiles. Big sandwich boards that say "Annual Passholders This Way -->" without saying why will do the trick.

Logically this would work, but we're talking about tourists here. "Guests" can't even read the clearly marked FAST PASS signs at ride entrances. Example, on Dumbo this past weekend. Family tries to walk into the Fast pass line without scanning. They're told this is the FP line which was followed up by the "FP, what do you mean I need a FP?" Point is even if clearly marked, "guests" won't pay attention.

True, but that doesn't mean FP is a bad idea or that they'll get rid of it because of those guests who are confused by it.

Speaking of FP, WDW could do a lot better job with signage for the entrances to their rides. I'm pretty familiar with the rides and the lines and even I have to sometimes stop and hunt around to make sure I'm getting in the right line looking for the FP entrance or making sure I'm not accidentally getting into the FP line when I don't have a FP. Sometimes I'm even taken aback by the sign "Stand-by Entrance" and my brain goes, "Wait, what is stand-by? Is that a fancy way to mean FastPass or some other elite group? Oh, it means simply, that this is the line." Who the heck thought to name "Entrance" with the insider terminology "Stand-by Entrance"?

Would love it if there were just two very easy-to-spot arches with one that says "Entrance" and the other that says "FastPass Only."

The AP line will have a slow start. I'm guessing 3/4 of AP holders are on Blackout now until the New Year. I can't image that many own Platinum passes.

Lol I've thought the same when going into the "Standy-by" entrance. Is this the rube line? Anyhow I hope the AP entrance works out. I think it would be especially useful this week or other peak times for us APs

I think this is a really nice perk because a lot of non-APs wait until the turnstile thing circles several times before putting their finger on the scanner, and I think this is going to be a faster and easier way to get APs in. But I wouldn't be surprised if this is a test to see if Disney could charge for priority entrance to the parks

Just heard on WESH news (local news here in the Orlando area) that this is only through January. According to the news it is a thank you to APs (some thank you considering a lot of APs are blocked out). Please keep it around longer!

Just about everything Star Wars that was added to DHS last year was announced to be a "Season of the Force" and online schedules never went more than a few months at a time. And yet, turned out to be permanent.

The first time Club Villain was offered, they extended its run twice. Then brought it back this Fall. Then extended that run.

Of course WDW is going to say "For the next month..." If it doesn't do well. They stop it and that's that. They don't have to embarrassingly pull the plug on it because it had a baked in expiration date. But, if it goes well, they'll keep extending it, even indefinitely until it seems like it's permanent.

IOW, just because it's announced with an end date, doesn't mean it will definitely end. It might. It might not.
